  • What domain names?

    • Hi exc3113nce

We support a range of domain names, however the deal is limited to .com .net .org .com.au .net.au .org.au .id.au

The .au namespace applies only for our business plans as you need an ABN for eligibility requirements (AUDA rule)

How much memory is allocated for each account? What version of PHP? Thanks

    • These question are much more important question than the so called "unlimited bandwidth" or "unlimited disk space" (all other "unlimited" such as domain, email, etc is quite trivial)

      • If phpinfo() is executed, what will be the reading of memory limit there (by default)? can this be changed? Some hosting limit this to only 40MB and you cannot modify it and you will get lots of "Internal Server error" or just blank screen….
      • Wordpress blog with few plugin can easily creep up to 30MB per load, how much this temporary use of memory is allowable (not allocated, as it is not dedicated/VPS - I understand) before the monitoring software complain about "excessive use" ?

      Thanks!

        Hi xtanda,

Excellent questions we truly believe at avoiding companies that carry the unlimted bandwidth and disk space tag (moreso bandwidth), offering truly unlimited aussie bandwidth just isnt sustainable. Not to mention theres always a limit - be it the PIPE on the network end.

I wouldnt say unlimited email, SQL dbs etc is trivial, many hosts distinguish the difference in their plans based on this alone. Many of the major Australian companies.

I would argue that wordpress with a few plugins (well coded plugins) would use that much memory. And simply if you are you should look at decent plugins, and possibly even a caching plugin, to limit the dynamic calls on page loads.

We see WordPress blogs getting thousands of uniques a day without issue.

Im reluctant to say the exact limit in a public forum, for the sake of server sec - however it is significantly above 40MB

That being said our wordpress experts would be happy to work with you to provide a stable solution, as we do with many of our bloggers.

Hope you take advantage of this bargain. Thanks for the techy questions!

      Hi phobaphobic

As its a shared infrastructure memory is not allocated - thats more in line with a VPS

5.3.x - we regularly upgrade PHP so it changes as new updates are issued.

  • It depends on what domain name it is, if it's some au.net nonsense then it's not that great.

I went with these guys because they allow unlimited bandwidth and they're pretty cheap: http://bit.ly/PssX0s

Are you kidding? Sorry to be negative but I had a hosting account with Bluehost (Which is where your link sends me) and they oversold their resources like it was going out of fashion! I started my own hosting company because I got so sick of hosts like them that said they could offer me one thing but could never live up to it.

      • Spot on there mate the same thing drove me to start Optic Empire years ago!

Unlimited bandwidth always rings alarm bells for me! Also thats US hosting so your account is located in the states

  • I feel the Quotas need to be multiplied by 5x in relation to the Bandwidth provided…

+ve because you have been quite helpful on here…

    • Elijah, thanks for the feedback and +ve

The bandwidth allocations certainly do allow for a lot of traffic (for the disk)

Deal is not too shabby. The more realistic prices + rep activity on here seem to indicate better than average service = more highly recommended for businesses, etc.

    • Thanks gabtug. We do our best to be on the ball.

Hoping some that have taken advantage of this deal this morning start to post their feedback so far.
