                  • @xphonerz: @xphonerz Yeah that's my situation too - would love for the 20% to work on gift cards.

@vash5 Will you please say the steps necessary to buy the gift cards online and getting the 20% discount?

                    • @smokeymr: FYI i have never shopped at Costco so i haven't a clue.

Just saw this deal and thought about a loop hole.

Probs best to give the store a call and go from there.

Can a costco member buy a gift card e.g $500s or $1000s then gifted this to a non member to visit costco without need of membership for entry?

    • following

    • Yes, this can be done

    • Yes, I did that yesterday and went smooth

Yes and you can buy your next gift card as a non member too

  • Costco playing funny buggers here

literally yesterday this was available for $999: https://www.costco.com.au/Baby-Kids-Toys/Toys/Building-Sets-…

now all of a sudden its "out of stock"

    • +5

Or maybe a lot of people just bought one because of this deal?

  • +1

Doesn’t apply to PS5 either. Added two to cart hoping I could get them for $1400 - 20%, so like $560 each.

Doesn’t seem to show any further discount in checkout :(

    • Yeah I know that’s weird. It doesn’t say PS5 is not included? I thought maybe it was just limited to one, but still doesn’t work.

      • +5

It does apply to PS5, and I've confirmed it via Online Chat. They will provide a partial refund.

        Response from rep:

Hi, thanks for contacting Costco Online.
The PS5 is part of the 20% for orders over $1000
If you place an eligible order and are charged incorrectly, please provide your order number and we will lodge a partial refund for you.

Works on Xbox series X. Do you think the old buy 2 and return one trick for 20% off will work?

    • +4

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Did you realise Costco's service decreased significantly compared to 2-3 years ago? I still remember Costco had friendly staff who are always approachable, but my last few interactions with the staff were like, "I don't care, GTFO". There were not significant interactions, most were like "Where can I find YYY product?", "Could I get a raincheck for an out-of-stock item?"

    • +2

Yes! The staff at Morrabbin is terrible

    • +1

I think they've always been like that. Friendly and polite enough, but not forced to do fake smiles and customer-is-always right BS.

Like they're human beings, and not just corporate drones.

      • +1

Thank you. I am here for low price, as long as you keep them low I don't care for service.

  • anyone in melbourne wants to half xbox serie x with me?

Non members can bot buy shop cards. Non members can nit add value or top up cards that have been bought for them by a member. Non members can not pay part shop card, part other payment. If you shop total exceeds your shop card value, you can not pay the balance some other way.

    • Thats an odd policy. Then how is a non-member going to use the remaining balance? Eat $1 hot dogs till no more balance :)

      • +2

Either they need to buy suitable items to use up the rest of the balance or get the member to load more cash onto it. I can understand why they have this policy in place, otherwise people can use shop cards as a form of membership as long as it has credit.

If the 1k spend seems a little high, you could always use a high value non-discounted item (eg iPhone) to get you over the mark and return it using their famous no questions asked policy.

    • You sure we could do that?

      • Seems to be working in the cart and I've never had a problem returning anything to costco.
