  • Hey folks!

Anyone on Tangerine have any thoughts about their service? I'm currently on More with that CBA offer and has been pretty good, so will only change if reviews are good!

    Cheers

    • Stay with More. I just left these chumps after 1 month, the speeds are horrendous at peak times, packet loss etc when gaming. Switched away and the problems disappeared. There's a reason it's cheap.

    • Tangerine is a bloody nightmare I'm with them and have no internet 4 days now all calls are off shore spent hours on the phone last 3 days only to be told tonight that the other people I talked to didn't lodge the fault with NBN and didn't send the information to NBN and likely to take another 48 hours to correct this is the second time in 6 months this has happened ,avoid them like COVID ground zero .

    • It's the same company. Identical service.

    • My conclusion is that they heavily shape wired connections ( not wireless). I assume they feel there are more likely associated with file-sharing. However its an absolute nightmare if you do WFH as in Sydney I would get 5Mbps upload, but 22Mbps via wireless. This is with a PC directly connected to FTTP port (ie eliminated any possibility it was the router) on their 256 service. I assume they packet snoop and look at the HTTP headers.

As a company, they are one of the worst I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

NB I now use Optus on the same FTTP port, so its a unique issue to Tangerine

No problems since the change from Spintel, or can be even said, better than Spintel, not even a single dropout

Tangerine service was fine, but I'm stuck in an infinite loop trying to cancel my contract.

The account balance keeps going into debt by $10 every month as a 'late payment fee'. I ring them up to say the contract is cancelled and they waive the fee, only to get another $10 next month.

    I cancelled in January.

I would be a bit worried about a company that can't figure out how to close an account with finality.

    • I had that same issue with Optus, for about 5 months… Ended up in the hundreds. Sucks

  • Just signed up yesterday, with 85 cashrewards offer. Not sure if I should be able to add up the code now.

    • 85 cashrewards offer.

This cashback is from Econnex / CIMET, and you are forced to go through their signup flow where they don't let you enter any coupon codes.

Not sure if I should be able to add up the code now.

      Choose one or the other.

  • More is still cheaper, have like 7 months still to find a better offer though

    • Could you please provide the link, how is it cheaper than this?

    • +1

This offer is an additional $15 off the listed price (i.e a total of $30 off for the first 6 months when including the $15 new customer discount). It only shows the additional $15 discount once you enter the code.

Tangerine don't offer a 250Mbps plan though, only 205Mbps then the 1Gbps plan.

      • +1

They offer the 250/25, it’s just that they can only sell it as 205Mbps as that’s the typical evening speed as measured. Does indicate some congestion at times.

The 1000/50 doesn’t even have a typical speed advertised, it’s just “configured on the 1000/50 tier”.

Shit service provider, delete support tickets, lie to to tele ombudsman, slap fees on randomly, and continue to bill after cancellation.

  • +1

    Terrible customer service!!!!!!

  • I was with Tangerine from late 2021-early 2022 for 6 month honeymoon discount and recall they were OK at the time (HFC, basic 25/5 plan), although not a heavy user.

Would be keen to hear more feedback before re-joining as my 6-month discount with Auspost nbn is sadly ending next month 😢

    • an extremely solid network, better than superloop actually in peaks. Most of the issues are user ones not the provider

      • Could it be your location as well? Less congested so getting better/stable connection.

        • Na woolloongabba, always congested

I was a Tangerine customer for 6 months. Coming in, they stuffed up my billing (overcharging) that took many heated phone calls to get fixed.
Coming out, I cancelled 2 weeks before next payment due, but missed the "billing cycle" by 2 days which cost me $90 odd for no use.
What a rip off! Worst telco I've ever dealt with

  • wonder if bupa rewards only for bupa customers with hospital cover (we only bought basic)? I searched in whole APP & online login, couldn't reach life rewards section.

    • +1

edit: found under 'Manage your cover' as well as gift cards offer, never thought that title could be clicked :)

  • Thanks OP. $39.90/month on NBN FTTP 50/20 set up for the next 6 months. Original price was $54.90/month, and the code brings it down by $15/month.

    CAUTION

I signed up recently for Tangerine Mobile (porting from Amaysim so that I can sign up to them again later) using my own Bupa code (via the Life Rewards section of the Bupa website).

When I signed up, the upfront cost was 0.00 (since the first 2 months are free).
Today, they sent me a bill for $20 for the first month.

The CSR on the phone was completely useless as usual. She asked me for my Bupa code again saying it needs to be validated.

    • How'd you go in the end? Was it relatively painless to reverse charges and get things fixed up?

      • Painful, and an epic waste of time dealing with multiple agents.
The agents themselves were pleasant enough to deal with but they don't seem to know their own systems (i.e. lacks training).

In hindsight, I should have waited for a Boost Mobile deal.

        • Thanks, wondering if I should go for it or go back to Superloop instead…

Just discovered this stacks with $40 Fresh Fibre promo if you're switching from FTTN or FTTC.

I'm looking at $34.90 pm for the 100/20 plan for 6 months.

Hopefully service is not too bad!

  • Is the mobile prepaid or postpaid?

  • "Cannot redeem offer because the offer's redemption limit has been reached." probably should have jump on sooner - I had a working code too!

  • Oh what really? I'm gonna try soon, was gonna set up next few days 😢

    • +1

I managed to sign up for activation end of week with my BUPA code. In my app it says offer is available between the 04/07/23 and 13/10/23 so should still be available for those who are with BUPA.

  • My Bupa shows the end date of this promotion to be 13/10/23 and I tested the link and code and they still work, so this shouldn't be labelled "expired".

I want to ask: what's the process like after I sign up? How long do I wait for NBN to be active? I previously had NBN but stopped using it (relying on mobile network).

    • You're right, I think they extended it. Maybe a mod can update the deal expiry.

      • Reported with comment on extended expiry, unsure if it's the right process though 🤷‍♀️

        • Updated, thanks.

  • What's the process like after I sign up and pay? How long do I wait for NBN to be active? I previously had NBN but stopped using it (relying on mobile network).

    • Did you pick immediate activation? I've signed up but mine doesn't activate till this weekend so can't give you an update just yet.

    • My suggestion is to not activate on a weekend, or if you do, you will have to follow up with customer service to trigger the transfer/activation.

Also because Tangerine uses PPPoE feels like some websites are blocked; YT has restricted mode automatically turned on (can't turn off). Connection wise seems OK so far.

  • Just cancelled my Exetel service (sucks you gotta give 30 days notice) and used my Life Rewards coupon.

As a new customer it looked like this stacked with the promo so ended up on 100/20 for $47.90 for 6 months.

Lets hope it actually activates on the day I asked through the website!

  • I accidentally closed the code before copying it, anyway to recover the code?

  • Is this deal available for existing Tangerine customers ?

  • +1

I signed up over the weekend for activation on Monday. Got an email this morning to say they have the order and it’s being processed with NBN. My internet (HBF) cut out around 11am. Not sure how long but as I was on a video call, quickly changed to mobile data. After the call finished I tried again and it had changed over. I didn’t need to configure my router (Telstra Gen2). No issues since.
Moved from Leaptel (just finished the 12 month offer, shame as I didn’t have any issues with them).

  • Has anyone been able to redeem code twice on separate occassions? Was thinking of taking up the 2 month free mobile SIM offer- generated code on app but it says max redemption limit reached. I have already redeemed once for NBN offer and was planning to redeem second one for mobile SIM.
