$99 pretty much all the time. Though I’d like to hear experiences of people, especially at rentals. Is it possible to use without altering the blinds chain or returning things to the original state?

    • +2

Yes, this is something you put at the bottom of the beaded chain where you normally pull it.
You can stick it to the wall.
Note that this doesn’t work on its own. You need to purchase an additional Aqara Hub.

      • Will it work with other didn't hubs? Conbee or sonoff etc?

        • +1

I am not sure if other hubs will work.

        • +1

As far as I know it doesn't work on other hubs.

        • @cachehunter I have 4 aqara chain drivers paired to a sonoff zigbee dongle on a Home Assistant setup, using ZHA. There used to be a glitch where sometimes the aqara specific settings didn't come through for them when added to ZHA (and people were having more success with z2mqtt), but that seems to have resolved itself at some point.

      • Which exact Aqara hub are you using with this and where did you buy it?

    • +3

I have a similar thing. Not exactly this. The thing is, the chain needs to be taught tight itherwise it will slip when rotated. And when tight it pulls up on the device and the stickers holding it to window frame eventually get tired and let go so you have to re-stick it. A bit annoyning. Would be way better to screw it down but rental…

      • I’ve bought the Kogan wifi one, which works similarly. The bead chain thingy can snap off due to tension

  • I'd recommend the ones from Kogan for $69. I have three of these and they've never skipped a beat. They're just rebranded Tuya's and don't need a hub.

    • Do they (Kogan) work with Home Assistant?

    • +1

What is the approx battery life like if this is used twice a day

      • Ah okay, these aren't comparable at all. I didn't realise the one posted by OP has a battery.

        • So Kogan ones are not supported by battery so you need keep them plugged with electricity power

      • it really depends on the size/weight of the blind, i have 10 of the aqara ones and it can be abt 4 weeks(1.8m *2.1m) ~ 10 weeks(0.6m * 2.6m)

  • +1

I got 3 of this and love it. Like others said, need the hub to work. Tension could be an issue initially but once you get it right work like a charm. This also have 3(or 4) different type of roller bits (not sure whats it call) to suit different chain, just have to try to get the right one.

Make sure to wipe area with methylated spirits before sticking it. Or you could screw if you like.

What i noticed was oversea version seems to allow you to change the height position once you stick/screw so you could still adjust. But it could just be mine is the older version.

I got mine from JB. I just use the hub E1.
