  • Would have been perfect if it supported HomeKit…. or if I didn’t use Apple

    • +4

This is why I went with this for $489, not a deal but it has amazing features.

Aqara U100 Smart Door Lock with E1 Hub Kit

You get $10 off for new members and also 3x on the woolworths rewards points (1497) my just go to be Qantas points if that floats your boat.

      • +2

Looks nice. Does it automatically unlock when you approach with a phone? Or do you need to scan it like paywave? Or do you need to unlock and press buttons etc?

        • Goood questions would like to know too

        • +3

You could set up an automation within your own network that once your phone connects to your local net it unlocks the door. Or something similar to geolocation on garage doors home kit displays a prompt on your phone or CarPlay to open.
          Really options are endless.

It’s got a crazy number of different ways to opening.
          Fingerprint
          HomeKit
          NFC Fob
          Keypad
          In app
          Google home
          Matter
          Alexa
          Mechanical key

I hope the extend the NFC to Samsung as my missus won’t be using HomeKit. I will just give her a fob I guess or she can use fingerprint 🤷‍♂️

          • @Fuzzyduck: Are you able to get this working well with Apple? Apple seems to want you to confirm on your device that you're ok to unlock the door, even if it knows you're going home.

            • @browncamry: @browncamry I haven’t installed yet, will double check when up and running. An extra step like that sounds frustrating I hope it’s not the case.

              • @Fuzzyduck: Yeah it'll do things like turn lights on automatically… but will need confirmation for any security related devices like a door lock. It is quite frustrating and I feel like it should be my choice.

I had to use home assistant to unlock the door when a light turned on. There were a few nuances to that and I can't exactly remember why, but I've since turned it off and unlock the door with a button on my apple watch instead.

      • Nice one. Will compare to the Schlage Encode Plus. Little more expensive but wonder if it’s better in any way. Has the apple HomeKey thing also.

It says it supports Apple HomeKit on the listing?

      • Yep, I will be using HomeKit but people with Samsungs or other android phone won’t get that functionality.

      • Yes

        • +1

Set your store and it goes to $318?

          • @hamza23: That's what I'm thinking might happen……

          • @hamza23: Mine stays the same when setting a store but unfortunately I get an error when adding to the cart - "Updating cart failed, Please try again!"

Seems someone from their IT mixed up with this one

oops, someone updated the non video version price to the system….

  • +1

Has anyone DIY installed one of these eufy locks before? I'm always hesitant to use in case my existing door lock holes don't match the eufy one, then it would be extra cost to get someone to install

    • +1

If you have a deadbolt it should fit. Easy 10min job

      • Yep got deadbolt lock already. So I guess just like for like replacement then?

    • +1

pretty easy, even if you have to drill the hole yourself.

the hole size is pretty standard for a deadbolt lock, you shouldnt have much issue replacing it and it’ll just be a 15 mins job.

      • +1

It is easy but not for a complete noob. Especially on your front door.

    • +3

I have done mine and this is the first time touch wood related work. Took me three hours to get things done. Worked fine for the last 12 months. In case you need new hole due to camera hight, you may find this useful.
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-wood-door-lock-installatio…

      • 3 hours for 1 hole?

        • It's quite impressive in certain respects…or not….

    • +3

Please note this lock does not have a handlebar, if you do only have a single lock hole and you want to get this smart lock to replace the existing one, that might not work. Because doors usually cannot stop in the door frame without any force(need you to push/pull). The way to set up this smart lock is to drill another hole and keep both locks on your door.

    • +1

Yep. It took me about 1.5hrs coz I was a little confused but figured it out in the end that I had to use old locks face plate. I also used the wrong screws and took me a while to figure that out. I was doing this at 11:30pm after a long day…

    • I installed one but had to redrill new holes. I was going to replace the current handle but only realized until after that there would then be no handle to grab lol. My deadbolt lock was on outside of the door which requires drilling into the door and frame so the eufy bolt can pass through it.

  • anyone know how long the battery last on this? and does it use wifi?

    • 3 - 6 months from my experience, cannot remember if it requires wifi set up because it has a separate doorbell chime as a company, and that doorbell chime needs to connect to wifi. Works perfectly overall.

      • +1

May I ask how do you charge battery? I took it out, charged and put it back in. Ended up resetting passwords & finger prints. Thanks

        • same with you, but no need to reset the password or fingerprints

        • +1

I just take it out of the door. plug it in to charge then put it back. Did it last night and nothing reset.

    Imagine bunnings won't honour this..

    • Last time i bought a drone on price error they cancelled and gave goodwill gift card

    • ouch. how easy did he pick it!

    • That was a different model, this is is a keyless lock

      • +2

Yes different model but it does have a key hole under the doorbell button if the battery runs flat

        • +2

          Ok I stand corrected
I guess at least with this model you might get to see the video of whoever picks your lock LOL

  • Disadvantage of having some weird ass metal door in my house with a long vertical cylinder design - can't install these

    • replace the door with the saving you made from buying this

  • bought one

    • +1

New door for a old house is not recommended. Het a new house plz

  • +1

    JBHIFI will price match..

    • Yep can confirm - just pricematched via live chat: https://prnt.sc/dboVvXbWvnTC

      • Was told its a price error and they wont match it

        • Same here they're onto it: "hey sorry we are just having trouble with this item and its coming up as a pricing error on Bunnings site so we cant price match this". I persisted but no dice.

      • extra $30 off with perks

  • +2

can confirm pricing error…better be quick

    • +1

      will you honour it?

      • +1

cant see why not, wont accept screenshots, price will need to be live

      • Can confirm just bought one in store for $318, price is in system and on shelf

  • What's the difference between these two?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Eufy-T8520T11-Security-Smart-Touch…
Is the bunnings one newer with the video capability?

  • +1

better to do the price match in jbhifi and buy using 5% giftcard in jbhifi

  • bought one with powerpass

  • +1

Someone has depleted the stock at Doncaster before my eyes 😂

    • How many did they buy? Did you ask their eBay username?

  • -1

Why would eufy includes physical key as one of the way to unlock this lock. A deal breaker to me.

    • perhaps if WIFI goes down or battery dies?

      • +1

If Wifi is down, I can still use the fingerprint or passcode to access. If the battery goes out (on the assumption) that you ignore all the battery warning, they should include the design like Yale Smart Lock where you can connect it to a 9V battery. (Of course, you will need to go to Kmart or Bunnings or whereever to get a 9V battery).

This lock is really not design for security. It does look fancy.

    • so easy to get access. The weakest point in this lock from a security point of view. Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GwAu-uw-e8M

      • +1

you don’t want the key? just silicon the hole inside and problem is solved

        • Probably the first thing that I would do if I get this lock. Wish it supports Zigbee and has no key hole

    • for when the lock becomes faulty like mine did so backup was to use key.

  • amazing, i was going to pull the trigger after work for $510. you saved me a ton.

  • My door doesn't have a separate handle. Do people usually just install a dummy lever?

    • +1

yes, or just a door handle

you will also also need a way to hold the door when it’s closed, such as normally another door lock with latch or a roller catch or magnet or whatever creative idea you can come up with.
