Everything is coming down in price … except GPUs

    • Fingers crossed it comes down in time just before Phantom Liberty and Starfield come out.

      • Starfield is AMD sponsored, Phantom Libery is Nvidia sponsored. Rip.

  • Does this need heatsink for PS5?

Dang it, I thought I got a good deal at $177 yesterday, poo!

    • I know the feeling I purchased it for the same price yesterday too. Mine has a delivery date of 2 weeks and hasn't shipped yet. Hopefully, there aren't any further delays.

Now if only there would do a better deal on a NAS or mass storage I was looking at. :D

      • At least we can commiserate together :) Mine just shipped, I was going to cancel if it hadn't. I was looking for a good deal on a UPS but nothing going at the moment.

        • I would have too, but I also have a cashback pending on it that gets close to the new price, plus re-ordering would mean going to the back of the queue for stock too. :/

Wondering if may be worth replacing one of my existing 1TB NVME drives and just putting that in a new NAS for SSD caching… decisions.

    • Same here I FOMO’ed yesterday :’)

  • Jeez, I didn’t think I needed - but honestly at $75/TB for a top tier, I don’t see why not. Thanks OP.

  • Any recommendations on a heat sink?

  • Tempted ,
But 2-6weeks will probably mean 6 weeks and in a falling market …

    • +3

Another way to look at it is you can lock in the price now and if within a week or so, a new deal comes up, cancel it.

  • Which one is better this one or https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787772 ?

    • +3

      The P41 is faster.

      • Which would you chose for a PS5? Things have probably changed but I read months ago the WD was better for gaming, supposedly loaded assets faster.

    • +1

I would get the SK Hynix Platinum .. its newer and runs cooler so it won overheat as much inside the PS5

  • Is this for PS5 use only or can it used on a PC as well?

    • +1

It'll work for a PC, but the concerns about a heatsync are specific to the PS5.

      • +1

Not really, these can run very hot in PCs too. Personally I wouldn't use it without a heatsink

      Good one 🤣

Anyone know if this would be compatible with a 2015 MacBook Pro retina?

    • With an adaptor it should be, just limited it gen 3 speeds

  • P41 is as lot better. Worth the extra $28, particularly if you're buying it for a laptop

    • This might explain this rapid price drop…

    • "a lot better" is a stretch. This is an amazing deal on a drive that barely benchmarks worse than the p41. A difference you'll only notice if you are benchmarking.

  • This or 980 pro?

  • the price has increased to $190 now

    • +1

Looks like it dropped back down to $147.81

      • +1

holly shit, yes, it even goes further down now

  • +1

    NO .. its $147.81

      • Amazon is good like that.. you secure you order and if the price drops or you find something better in the next few hours you order again :)

  • I got the 1TB 980 Pro for $72.74 yesterday.

    • i got 2x for $135 - $67.5 each

  • $147 now! 👀 I paid $230 last week 😮‍💨

  • They cancelled my order at !147!

  • My order at ~$147 also got cancelled.

  • +1

    It's $313 now, or US$134 at Amazon.com (US).

  • +1

I cancelled my order and it became $313 when I went back to reorder!!!

    • Yeah this sucks, dodgy as - I wonder if anyone else’s got cancelled at the ~$150…

They just pulled the US product listing I think?

  • Its back to 147 again, lets see if this get cancelled or end up sending me a 1tb

    • I just bought the P41 instead…

    • +1

Lol I just ordered and it instantly got cancelled a minute later

  • I purchased one last time they were ons ale (I needed to upgrade from a 1TB M2; there wasn't enough space for heavily modified Bethesda RPG + all of my applications + several other A list games on a 1TB). Western Digital Black SN850X have excellent performance.

  • Will i get 5 years WD warranty as same as WD sold in Australia? or only 12 month Amazon AU warranty?

  • Anyone kind enough to share a screenshot of invoice for price protection?
