Would be worth it just to get a bird's eye view of the Commonwealth Games sites.

  • Is this return flight?

    Or one way…

    • +4

It's always return with a balloon flight. How fast you come back down is a different story though.

Well ideally returning to the place where I parked my car too.

        • Well, that could also be arranged, but whether it's at terminal velocity or not is up in the air (see what I did there?).

          • @Munki: Terminal velocity please

    • Lol. Yeah, one way to the moon.

But yeah. Most balloon companies will get you back to where you started. Maybe not in the balloon but with other transport. Minibus etc.

      • Well it could drop me off at…i dont know, frankston.

        • +1

Well yeah. It depends on which way the wind is blowing as to where you end up!

Its a return trip in the balloon, vertically, just not horizontally. Thats why i clarified the bit about transport. ;)

@Fredorishi: I have been on one in turkey, landing location is highly wind dependent and ground crew followed it with trailer and mini bus for passengers. Believe it or not our pilot landed it directly on trailer

            • @AAN: The pilots have some pretty amazing skills. I was only ground crew for a brief while, but the handful of pilots i worked with were very impressive.

              • +1

@Fredorishi: In Cappadocia on average they have 120-140 balloons flying in the morning. Each balloon has it own ground crew. Its a magnificent sight to be flying in a balloon with 100+ balloons around you.

@AAN: That sounds amazing. Im in the Yarra Valley and reckon it looks cool when theres half a dozen in the sky. Lol..

  • Only if Superman and Spiderman are around and a $10 Billion life Insurance!!!!

  • "even packing up the balloon was fun"

The AirBnB of the experiences world.

    • Set up/pack up is mildy hard Yakka. The customers might help a little but they should have staff for that. Road crew as well as pilot/s

  • i remember watching one come down in Balwyn Victoria, narrowly dodged a crane, then presumably crash landed as i didn't see it rise again, open plains should be better for emergency landings

    • +1

Why would it rise again after coming down? Once you're back on the ground, the ride is over.

  • I have done 3 balloon flights in the last 15 years as birthday presents for myself. the first one was awesome. I would do it more if i wasnt so poor. the views are spectacular and it is strangely calm in the air because the balloon is moving the speed of the wind, you do not feel the wind.

I did not fly with this company.
