    • *looks at meat pie.

"What kind of hotdog is this?"

    • +1

Really? I read that in Jean Nassif's voice lol

      • Me too lol “You Like Mrs Nassif”

  • +4

this invitation doesn't show it is restricted to Casula only

    • yes very strange

    • +1

Can anyone confirm this? I can’t find it on Facebook or on their website

    • +2

Just called the warehouse and they confirmed its the Casula store only!

      • Note: Commenter is associated with Costco.

  • +4

you don't need membership to buy a hotdog at casula?
Just walk in via the exit past membership

    • +2

      That's all Costco's fyi

      • +7

Not at Lidcombe. The food area is before you walk inside the warehouse.

        • yep I used to drive past and grab a quick lunch at lidcombe

  • its always $2 for a hot dog and drink for anyone lol

    • +2

says you can shop there for free without a membership for that one day

    • or $1.50 just for the drink

  • +1

Normally do I need to be a member to do windows shopping?
I've never been to Costco, don't know how good they are.
    Thanks

    • +4

normally you need to show membership to get in, but if you walk closely enough with the person infront of you, they'll normally wave you in

Alternatively, you can go through the exit, and come through the checkout area

      • +4

As long as you dont want to buy anything, which you cant do without a card (except hotdogs)

      • Note: Commenter is associated with Costco.

  • +1

Just want to confirm is it store specific ? Can we really buy without a membership ? Last time I went with a friend who's a member and i he must paid for my purchase first and I reimbursed him as the cashier said I can't use my own credit card to pay as members only.

    • yes - you need to be a member to actually purchase at the check-out ordinarily.

I really am wondering if this special event is national ??

      • The stores in Brisbane is soooo far away for majority of residents that's why I need to confirm the above instead of wasting my time.

        • +3

I live in Ipswich and can also confirm that North Lakes and Coomera are a fair distance away

          • +6

@charles4305: I live in Brisbane, and Ipswich store is so far away, and it's like traveling to a third world country.

I'm not sure it's safe and I need to visit my doctor to get the necessary vacations.

            • +1

@shoppe: That gave me a good laugh.

            • @shoppe:

I'm not sure it's safe and I need to visit my doctor to get the necessary vacations.

That's exactly how I feel when thinking about going to any Costco store.

    • I took a mate shopping at Auburn Costco recently and told him to tap his credit card and she didn’t care, she just wanted my membership card to scan prior

      • you just can't split the trolley
Took a friend once so he paid and I paid him back for my items

      • +2

        I've worked at Costco.
Can confirm you're not meant to use someone else's credit card. Card details should match your membership (or at least be your card)

That said, most employees don't mind.

        • We went to the Bundamba one and yes the cashier did care !

          • +1

@sistermay: Shut up and don't take my money!

            • @Bdawg: They don't! And they didn't let me buy the goods either ! 😏

        • Card details should match your membership

What if I tapped my watch or phone? How will they verify the name on card then?

    • +3

If you hadn't have said anything, they'd be none the wiser. Credit cards aren't linked to memberships.

    • I take my mum on occasions and she pays separately but using my membership card. They've never kicked up a fuss.

    • +4

Heard you can enter any costco and purchase stuff if you have Costco gift card

      • Yes, I used to do this

    • +1

Just called the warehouse and they confirmed its the Casula store only!

    • Some cashiers like to enforce rules that make them feel all powerful. Stupid rule.

      • More like stupid staffs…

  • +5

Thanks for the heads up. I usually shop at this Costco , but will go today as tomorrow will be insane.

  • this is a PSA for everyone else who has a membership not go on sunday

    • +1

      Did you mean Saturday?

      • +2

        ohhh dang… of course i did…

but if everyone skips sunday as well.. i might actually go.

        hahaha

        • +1

Sunday at Auburn Costco is always a horrible mess of people

          • +1

@Capitalshark: That Costco is horrible to get in and out of. I do enjoy gliding on the trolley down the ramps though.

      • The weekend in general

  • You like to shop, yes?
You like hotdog and drink, yes?

    • +3

      Then this is for you,yes.

      • I like cheap shop. This is cheap shop, yes?

        • +1

Cheap shop,no. No good for poor

  • +2

    Ozbers roll out!

  • +1

I went to costco after a few months of not going, end up spending $400….

Its just two of us and a dog

    • +2

Its just two of us and a dog

Woah man. No need to call your partner that. ( ͡° ᴥ ͡°)

  • +2

For the anti sugar gang, hit the back of the 7up near the button and it's soda water. It really helps my kids out who are already on a sugar high from sharing the sundae.

    • +1

Man, that sundae, too much, I asked the person to just fill it up half, and they topped it out even more, no need to be wasteful if you really can't consume that much anyways.

      • I let my three kids share one and ask for 2 more cups, Split it thirds. Works everytime.

  • I wasn't sure whether to read the description in the voice of Borat, or Jean Nassif..

  • +1
    • Oh,no! Now Ozbargain are going to stalk me 🥲🥲

  • +2

Apparently you can get a Costco member to buy you a Costco gift card and that lets you get in without a membership?

Otherwise how would you spend the gift card..

    • Would be a crappy gift if it required a membership.

    • +1

Done this last month. Spent $200. Paid $100 via gift card and rest on credit card. The cashier was not aware and had to ask his senior to confirm if I was allowed to do this.

  • +1

Hi all. I was being silly in my post, trying to be funny..

You are allowed to go in and shop at Costco tomorrow without a membership. I'm not too sure if it's just Casula or nationwide.

No,this deal isn't about the hotdog.

    • Based on previous threads, isn't Costco all about the chook?

      • Costco chooks are big. Bigger than Coles. Someone had posted a complaint in the Facebook group that the chickens aren't fully cooked inside.

        • I'll stick with the overcooked Colesworth chooks then

  • +2

Buy a gift card then you won't need a membership

    • classic hack

  • Executive members benefits?
    How much to join?

    • $130 a year.

  • -4

Place will be unbearably packed. Get a Costco gift card and u can shop all year round.

    • Good hack

    • +2

      It's unbearably packed every weekend.

  • Will avoid Costco this weekend, thx for the heads up

    • good idea

  • +1

Do we think we can buy a gift card without membership tomorrow and use it on another day? What are our chances?

    • That's what i have gathered from the comments.

  • Can you shop and buy without a membership?

  • +1

A similar event happened at the Melbourne warehouses a few years ago and it was absolute chaos with people everywhere. I would avoid.

  • I can imagine how people mountain people sea there will be tomorrow

    • -2

Comrade. I will see you tomorrow at the gathering. 明天见!

  • make sure you pickup some A5 wagyu

  • Costco trolleys are solid. They go straight and don't veer like normal supermarket ones do (actually, most of Aldi's trolleys are good too).

    • +1

…. veer like normal supermarket ones do

Colesworth trolleys are powered by AI. You're meant to follow the trolley as trolley knows best.

      or

Many Colesworth trolleys are possessed by the devil.

    • Its because most Aldi shoppers steal the trolley from Woolies or Coles when they shop as they don't want to pay the $2 and have to push it back in order to get the coin back ! Compare the wear and tear from constant use and little use, of course Aldi's trolleys are better in general !!!

      • I've had brand new trolleys from Woolies veer. The new plastic ones seem to be OK though. I've stopped using the large ones and only get the smaller ones.

I never go to an Aldi with a Woolies or Coles in the same complex though, so I dunno.

  • anything for VIC?

  • $2 hot dog and drink usually do not require membership, they are outside of checkout counters.

No membership required to shop, wondering if qualify for members' discounts.

They call it in warehouse savings: https://www.costco.com.au/warehouse-savings_FY23_AU_P12_W1-4…

  • Clear room in your freezer for 10 roast chickens…

    • 20 if you're an islander

      • -1

20 is the minimum number to order ahead, so maybe they get a lot of Islanders preordering their post chickens.

  • -3

I'm sure this will be a hugely enjoyable traffic and crowd free experience. Well worth the journey.

  • +3

There is nothing that I would enjoy less than to travel to a Costco on a Saturday to buy a $2 hotdog.
