Yes people are still wondering about the ?

  • My recent experience with MAL was very good. In comparison SAL service level have gone down.

    • SAL as in Singapore Airlines?

      • Sorry it should be SIA

Airlines the worst for refunds and cancellations.

They cancelled a flight I booked from KUL to Phuket and because it was a non-refundable ticket they said they would not to give my money back or even offer me a diffrent flight even though they cancelled the flight ?!?

Kicked up a storm they agreed to refund but had to physcially attend their office in KL to get the refund issued!

Not worth it, go with SIA instead.

    • i can't find any customer service contact details for airfares on SIA after booking.

      • Refund might take a while with MH, but at least you can reach out to someone you can assist with your queries. Unlike, SIA its pain to reach out to the support team directly.

Why was the flight canceled? If its the airline's fault like a mechanical issue then yes they should put you on another flight (or refund you if nothing is suitable). If it's out of their control like weather then that's why travel insurance exists.

      • Dunno why I'm being negged but this is how it works in much of the world and also what the law in Australia is. Out of airlines control = airline not accountable, in airlines control = their responsibility to get you from A to B.

This is exactly why travel insurance covers things like weather that are out of the airline's control but doesnt cover things like mechanical issues or operational decisions because the airline is responsible.

Exactly how it works in Malaysia as well - 'exceptions occur during “extraordinary circumstances” including security risks or extreme weather which the airline could not have known would happen.' https://www.mavcom.my/en/consumer/flight-delays-cancellation…

    • Hope this help. mavcom. Got response from MAS and Airasia after complaint to them.

  • Fly Malaysian Airlines at least once a year and they're always wonderful. The FAs seem much happier than other airlines for some reason.

  • Pre Covid had travelled with MAS a few times and always been good.

This deal also looks like a good deal. But did they pick the cities randomly or calculatively? My 2 favourite are not listed: Kota Kinabalu and Ipoh….

    • don't have a flight from KL to Ipoh, may be that's the reason. You got to transit through Singapore to fly to Ipoh from Kl :D.
      Kl -> Sin -> Ipoh.

  • Flown MH last month. The domestic flight meal was much better than international flight.
