Costco Price Adjustment

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Couldn’t find any references here about the Costco price adjustment.

I have been using the for a few years now without any issues.

Recently bought Collagen Powder from my local Costco at $54 and it went on special for $42 a week later.

Walked upto the membership enquiries desk and ask for the price difference. Gave them the date of transaction and they looked up the purchase and refunded the difference of $12 onto my card.

Typically, whenever I buy items in stock and notice they go on special on my next visit, I easily get the price difference refunded without any complications.

If this doesn’t belong here, please mods could you move this to forum.

  • This should be in the forum. Not a deal.

30 day price guarantee… That's what they call it.

  • great deal!

  • doesn't belong here as it isn't a deal.

It works until you get some grumpy operator who acts like they are giving you the price difference from their own pocket.

I had one lady act like she was doing me a massive favour and threw a hissy fit when I dared ask for the price difference.

    • I had a grumpy operator asked me to return the product, then purchase again at the lower/discounted priced at the time. Too much work for $12 saving, gave up..

    • Don't over use it on $12 item as OP suggested, I have used once to price match with other retailer on a $300 difference day after I bought it.

      • Costco do price match? Which retailer?

        • I'm not sure, the price went down $300 a day after I bought it on Sony website and I asked them nicely instead of Ozb lol

    • Maybe a deal?

How did you get the phrase "would have" correct then in the same sentence get it wrong with "never of"?

It will cost you an extra trip potentially worth's $100 stuff U probably wouldn't have bought and 30 mins in queue.. in not playing this game again .

It's their 30 day price adjustment policy. Has anyone managed to get it for over 30 days if the item is still in stock? Saves the trouble of rebuying and returning on old receipt

      • Yeah it says 30 days but if the item is still in stock when you've bought over a month ago, then I think they should still refund the difference. otherwise people might just rebuy and return it right away for the old price, since their return policy is pretty lax.

I did do the rebuy thing when their baby chair went to half price 2 months later, probably should have just asked instead lol

    • Tried a few days ago with an online purchase >$1000 with a price difference of around $250 for about 85 days.
They could not assist, saying the system does not allow. An option is place another order, and return it in store, but did not bother.

  • the difference of $12 onto my card.

    which card ?

    • +1

Any debit/cc card, sometimes if it's small amount, they ask if I want cash instead.

  • -4

    this deal not very good

  • +1

Does that apply to online purchases too?

    • +2

      https://www.costco.com.au/member-care/refunds-and-return/pri…

For online purchases only, Costco will gladly issue a credit for the difference between the price you paid and the promotional price, if your purchase was made online at costco.com.au and was within 30 days prior to the change in price. Credits are typically issued within 7-10 business days.
      Please note:

The special consideration for promotional pricing is for end consumers only. Resellers must purchase the item during the valid promotional dates to receive the promotional price.
If you purchased the item at a Costco warehouse location, please enquire at the membership counter at the Costco location where you made the purchase. Refunds are at the discretion of the warehouse.
Costco does not price match with other retailers.
Costco does not honour a price match request unless the item is in stock online.

eBay doesn't have a forced membership fee.

      • +2

        It's still the same sentiment.
If price cheaper, get difference refunded.
Just that the ebay one is a better offer.

        • -5

Not saying you don't have a point, as you do.
But for some people it's chalk and cheese.
Me as an example. eBay, it's at my fingertips. Costco is a minimum 2 and a half hour round trip for me and that's only driving into and straight out of the carpark without going inside. I live in Geelong. Part of my sentiment is jealousy as I live in a town of near 300,000 and we don't have a Costco or an Ikea. 😂🤣

    Mods still asleep?

      • iirc they are paid, so perhaps the site doesn't want to pay them weekend rates. Or they got drunk last night and are still in bed.

Costco has always been overated overpriced bulk goods selling for retail

Its only worth it if youre a family of 10 with a weekly food bill of like $200+

Op needs to find something better to do

    • Absolute tosh mate. We are a family of two and we get our value out of Costco. Apart from the groceries they have a decent range of brand electrical devices, and clothing, that goes on special. Also alcohol tends to be cheaper. Sounds like you don’t know how to shop Costco.

      • +3

Better off with Aldi and specials at Coles/Woolworths

        • +1

Yep. Ppl don't seem to factor in the 'do I REALLY need it' category when defending purchase locations / retailers.

          • -2

@Protractor: So you only buy what you REALLY need. You must have a pretty boring life. No holidays for a start.

            • @try2bhelpful: Holidays are most definitely needed!

            • +1

              @try2bhelpful: ure a bit catty today ;p

              • -1

@capslock janitor: Nah, just sick of the people who think Costco is all about the groceries. In my case it is mainly about the other things they sell. That is where you can get the real bargains. Also the ability to return stuff you decide isn’t for you helps. If you want to talk about catty how does “OP needs to find something better to do” rate?

            • +1

@try2bhelpful: You seem to have real difficulty reading or you are targeting my posts.

              • @Protractor: Neither is true. Then again I’m not paranoid either.

                • @try2bhelpful: I never said 'buy only what you need' BTW. But that's what you claimed.
                  I said factor it in.
So maybe rather than diagnose other users, or misread words,

you could align with your username?

                  • @Protractor: Your response was in reply to what I was talking about, therefore the first misinterpretation was with what I was saying. If you want to complain about people being unable to read can we start with you.

                    • @try2bhelpful: Nice try at rewriting history.
Frankly, I’m having trouble working out what your post is trying to say.

                      • @Protractor: I could say the same for your post. My point was you can’t just base Costco on groceries as it has many other things available. I’m not sure why things have to be factored on need in relation to purchasing at one particular store.

      • +1

Curious, how you think it's going health wise. I too have a small family and used to live practically next store to Costco but never used it. I found the cheap junk food (hotdogs etc) and the need to purchase large serves, eg trays of muffins instead of one, meant I'd just be over consuming.
Also found they didn't have the brand/flavour variety I wanted and it was hard to have a quick shop.

        • +2

I've yet to shop at Costco. Everything there seems to be supersized ….. 1.2 kg cookie bag = wt? And even the chooks are said to be huge.

    • -1

Garbage. I just paid $16 for a raw whole chicken from Woolworths that is smaller than the roast chickens at Costco for $7, plus you need to cook it yourself 🤯

      • You need to shop around

        • I saw the per kg price and assumed it was the price of the chicken, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

How is this a forum post but all the FYI style “this show is available on this streaming service” posts are deals? At least this one literally saves people money.
