    Travel period:

    3 Sep 2012 - 18 Sep 2012
    10 Oct 2012 - 14 Nov 2012

  • flight center don't beat the price, they just match it and give you a $10 off next time you shop with them..

    • +5

I just did it 2 weeks ago, they beat it by $1 and give me $20 voucher. I like fc becausr they dont charge me cc fee

      • +2

Indeed, the flight centre i use doesn't even charge a fee for Amex (when they price beat)
If you are spending 2k on fares, the amex points are worth about $40.

    • If seats are limited and you try to match the price at Fligt Centre, they will hold the seats for themselves so that you can't buy it online and say they can't match it cause there are no more seats.

So you are better off buying it online rather than risk loosing the seats.

      • +1

most of travel agent got allocated number of seat, they did try this trick to me once, but then i check with other travel agent and got it, try zuji, expedia and this travel and bestwaytravel as well. never fail mate as long as you booked asap not close to the expiry of the promotion

      • +3

        lose = loss
        loose = not tight

If I had a penny for every time I saw this on the internet….

        • Cheap date for sq indeed!

        • If I had a penny for every time I saw this on the internet….

          Then you would have pennys.

        • Thanks mum.

  • +3

Nice find, even cheaper then flyscoot.com when you add everything up

  • +2

I just got an email from "Scoot", with one way fares from $124 (Syd or Ool) to Singapore. I KNOW SQ is much better, but you ARE paying quite a bit more.

  • +3

Scoot's probably cheapest to Singapore at the moment. I just did a random date selection on Expedia for dates mentioned by Jesseboy89…worked out to be $327.

    Sydney to Singapore
    Fri 12/Oct/2012 - Fri 19/Oct/2012

    1 Ticket: Return

    Traveller 1: AdultAU$327.00
    FlightAU$197.07
    Taxes & Fees AU$129.93
    Expedia Booking Fee AU$0.00
    Total: AU$327.00
All prices quoted in Australian dollars

As for Flight Centre, they beat by $1 and also give a $20 voucher for each adult. http://www.flightcentre.com.au/cheap/lowest-airfare-guarante…

    Just sayin…

    • But was that no frills scoot? What about when you add on luggage, food, etc?

      • +2

Dont compare sq with flyscoot please. Mercedes and cherry has their own market share. For me 8 hours flight i need plenty of refreshment, food and entertainment, included luggage

If i flyscoot those extra might cost my tickey more

        • In terms of target market, I'm not too sure where a fit in — last month I flew a $88 Scoot fare to SIN then the next evening took a Qantas A380 in First Class to London — probably as big as an extreme as you can get. :P

SQ in Economy vs Scoot isn't a Mercedes vs Cherry comparison, IMHO — SQ isn't that good and Scoot isn't that bad. With Scoot, checked luggage costs $22-$36 extra for a 15-25kg bag. Food and refreshments can be smuggled on board (technically against their rules if you don't have some medical reason for doing so, but I didn't see anyone get questioned who did — even someone with a KFC bucket of chicken). I have a tablet, so entertainment isn't an issue for me either.

That said, I personally wouldn't pay much more than $150 for a one-way Scoot fare since I have frequent flyer perks with Qantas/oneworld (it's hard for me to give up access to the First Class Lounge in Sydney!). :)

        • +2

Some decent subtle big-noting going on there

        • what table do you use for 8 hours?

        • Table? Do you mean tablet? (Scoot has a fold down table in front of you… hehe.) ;)

I use the latest iPad, which easily holds its charge for 8 hours (lasts about ~11 hours just watching movies with Airplane Mode turned on) — most good tablets (Asus, Samsung etc. etc.) should have pretty similar battery life. :)

        • yeah tablet, but i like drinking and eating during my flight :)love to seat beside my family. not really sure if the air cabin as good as SQ stewardess :)

wow you always fly with first class?

        • +1

As a fellow bargainer who falls in a similar category in term of target market, what kind of magic did you use to purchase a first class ticket on QF to London?? Not a full price ticket I hope??

        • Redeem his qff points, seems he is heavy duty traveller, could be 100+ travelling within a year

  • +2

Althought airfare is cheap, accommodation in Singapore can be quiet expensive.

    • +3

Try small hotels away from the CBD. Even during the Formula 1 race it was possible to stay in good accomodation at around $120 per night.

    • +4

If you're fine with dorms, this place is pretty good.
      http://www.agoda.com/asia/singapore/singapore/woke_home_caps…

Around 24-25$ / night for a clean capsule located in Clark Quay so right near lots of the nightlife and relatively cleaner than the Chinatown district where all the other hostels are located. I stayed there on my last trip and I was very pleased with the overall experience especially at that price.

      • +1

I stayed at Woke home as well last time, and would recommend. They just didn't have an EFTPOS machine yet but that should be sorted now, and also weren't too happy about me using a different currency for my key deposit, which was weird. The internet is really fast.

I also stayed at another hostel in chinatown, as well as a cheap room in Geylang sex zone, and definitely recommend Woke home if travelling solo.

    • We got a tidy room, in a recently refurbished (Traditional style (Can't remember which tradition)) hotel for $70 a night, that was in Little India, which was about 20 mins MRT from the CBD.

    • -1

go to geylang area around sgd 60-80/ night, good for single male that want have extra entertainment around that area :)

  • +2

Oh, how convenient that the first travel period ends where I need to spend 5 days in Singapore in order to wait and see the Singapore F1, and then wait another 17 days to get a flight back. :)

  • +1

What class is this fare? Is it V class?

    • +1

The fare rules for a dummy $592 booking I made in September gave the fare basis as TLXNSP35, so I believe this is a T class fare.

      • That's a bummer, no credits or points on Virgin :(

  • +1

anyone knows where i can find cheap return flight syd-honolulu???? i booked the "to" flight when jetstar was doing special, but not the "return" one.

  • is it an upgradeable ticket?

  • Good deal if you can get on their A380

  • What is the shopping like in Singapore these days? Are there still good prices to be found with electronics and clothes?

    • +1

      clothing - ok
electronics - not that so.. HKG will be better prices.

  • why do u say this NOW? i just booked my flight a week and a half ago to singapore for $872 on emirates!

    • coz i just got the email today mate :)

  • +1

search for flight between "19 Sep 2012 - 9 Oct 2012", nothing came up as "$688 Return" advertised :(

    • +1

that is the departing date, try return on the 10, you can get 677 at zuji, try compare at byojet.com.au and price beat with fc

  • +1

Flight Centre do Price beat by $1 and issue you with a $20 gift voucher for your next travel. They can do things with airfares that Expedia can't. They dont work off alotment though, they have live availability. but they have the ability to hold flights for you too, and often they have private rates on fares that other companies dont have.
