Should have a $20 voucher via the app which gives $20 off similar to last time. Making it $80 for $200 credit.

    • If you could use the $20 voucher on double days…can get min 3x value $60-$20=$120 only $34 with a 15% off GC….

      • also…no need for a phone number for that voucher.

      • I presume you can't use the $20 voucher at kingpin locations ? The voucher states timezone qld locations only

        • correct. No good at kingpin, there is another $20 voucher for all non nsw and qld locations too

    • Just checking. That voucher I have to go into store to use? I can’t see how to redeem it via the app…

    Utter waste

      Cool your jets Boomer.
This is an awesome deal for anyone that can afford to play

        • Come on. Think of the children.

          • -6

@HitlersDad: Children can go out and play in the park. Enough scren time already

            • @U30004: They have plenty of games without screens.

    • +3

Same can be said for the time you spent to write that comment.

    • +1

      Ok old man

    • Literally anything in the world can be considered an 'utter waste' if your mindset is that way. I think groceries and petrol are an 'utter waste' because I don't like driving to work or having to spend money to survive.

Are holidays and other recreational activites an 'utter waste' too?

      • -1

You are right.. these things are utter waste too. Minimalism is the way to go

        • Sounds like your off to the park while other are going to timezone with their double vouchers.

This is the idiots forum where you will be shot if you dare to have a differing opinion

Not much value at Timezone but my nephew loved… for myself, as a grown child I’d rather spend the money at a retro arcade bar

    • which one do you recommend?

      • -6

Sorry, no recommended ones. I feel like I'm being asked to give a brief review on each one I know, prices, games, drinks and the like.
Best I can do is that the closest one is best

      • In Sydney you can go to Fortress at Central Park mall.

    • +1

Go for the rhythm games, you get a lot of time on them for the small cost. Taiko no Tatsujin (the drum game), chunithm, MaiMai, etc. all excellent.

  • +6

    Sorry dealbot.

Support your local and proper arcades, people. Where 99% of games are a $1/pop. And none of that card shit.

In Brissie; Netherworld, Pinball Haus, Pincadia, 1UP Arcade (the last being a pay reasonably low entry fee and play all day).

    • +7

When it comes to small arcades, you usually really have to pay the "tag" price. However with Timezone, you get all these double/triple value loads, mid tier bonuses, coupons all stackable with discounted gift cards. The real cost of playing a timezone game is probably somewhere between 50-70c if you are stingy enough.

      • Exactly , although do they ever do Triple Dollar loads?

        • Not formally but with the current PLAY20 coupon you basically get $45 for $15. Just create as many accounts as you need, no issues topping up multiple times when the place is not busy.

Better get in quick as it is ending on 30 July.

        • +3

Kind of… Kingpin (you can load your Timezone card there) had a $500 for $200 deal. I had one of those 10% off ultimate gift cards and at the time kingpin, was also doing a free $20 coupon. So for $160, I got $500 of Timezone credit. So that was 3.125 times credit, not even counting the progression towards mid-tier bonuses.

The stars really aligned so I can’t imagine it happening very often. Also Timezone staff have a 30% discount, so if you have any friends working at Timezone, you could easily get $200 for $70 during double dollars. ;)

Definitely beats out local arcades on value.

          • +2

@Thaos: Nice, didn't know about the Kingpin trick. Although I won't load up $500 at once as the kids won't be able to stop until they have use up all the balances on the card. The current $15->$45 promo seems perfect for those with young kids. For adults playing themselves, the Kingpin one is definitely the better way to go.

Also if you have a Costco nearby I believe they have 20% off timezone/kingpin gift cards all year round subject to stock availability. I usually stock up some when I have prepaid cards to burn.

            • +2

@truetypezk: Don't forget to ask to spin the prize wheel at Kingpin after loading $100+. If you don't like your prize you can ask for points instead.

              • +1

@Clear: Nice, this Timezone - independent arcade comparison seems pretty similar to the Coles/Woolies - Aldi one. If you are stingy enough to exploit all their promos and loyalty programmes it turns out to be a lot cheaper than the supposedly "cheaper" alternative.

    • Any in VIC?

    • +3

As much as I love a pint and some House of the Dead or pinball at Netherworld, Timezone is really the only place you can play rhythm games and games like maxitune due to online connectivity and venue whitelisting by Konami/Sega/Bandai Namco.

Probably the minority, but if you get decent at the rhythm games it's about $2.6/15min (before double dollar discount and not counting the 5 minutes between songs in maimai). Plus all those cabs tend to have a community around them that you can get to know if you want to.

I agree though that if you're mainly playing redemption games you're just wasting your money though.

    • +1

I would never patronise any business owned by Quadrant Private Equity (e.g. Timezone).

    • I remember the time when arcades where 20 cents are pop and now people are saying 1/pop is the norm.

  • How much do I get, if I load $25 onto my card?

  • +6

I wish they still had proper arcade machines, they're dominated by prize machines these days :(

Super Sessions in the 90's were amazing.

  • Just in time. I've got $30k to load and that plastic whistle in mine for sure this time.

    • +1

I'm going to get me that lobster harmonica.

      Come on, lobstie!

  • Thanks OP going to load up with hundreds of discounted GCs… been holding out till now

    • where do you get those discounted GCs?

      • Costco

        • Costco stopped selling these a while back. Have they started again?

      • +1

        15% Ultimate GCs

  • How much are games?

    • +1

$2 something and dont last for more then 2 mins if you are lucky

      • Sounds like you're bad at the games.

        • Lol may be would rather get a used xbox instead of timezone credit

  • +3

Meh, mostly just a bunch of rigged cashgrab prize machines. Miss the olden day real arcades with mostly games/cabinets where you'd vs randos for hours or make new friends as a kid. Also $100-$200 burns out fast, especially for a small family. Better off saving your money and going to pax or similar events with no limit all day arcades/games.

    • Exactly my experience.

    • +1

      Central has a karaoke machine

  • +1

How many points/tickets does everyone here have?
    6000 for me

    • +1

      15000

      • That's a healthy amount :)

        • +1

Got there with friends once a month not they hard to stack up

    • +2

80k, trying to find something to spend it on!

      • Wow, a few years back they had a home arcade cabinet for 100k.

    • +2

      300,000.

Honest truth. Waiting for 10% off and see what's in stock.

      • 300k, that's a few consoles at least. The rewards shops do have worthwhile items so you won't have to get junk.

        • Back then it was crap. No PS5. Not sure about now haven't checked but my kids have been spending my points on lollies and I just have to keep earning jackpots to keep it at 300k.

      • Do they do 10% off prize redemptions?

        • +1

Once a year. Sometime last year they had one.

    • +3

265,000. I recently "broke" the claw machine with the giant tickets that you drop onto a pusher. Broke in the sense that you could grab from the area it normally drops the ticket.

      • That's a crazy amount, I have 6k over nearly 10 years. Hope you get some cool rewards from the shop.

        • +4

I still have a significant amount to spend on prizes. Last time I was in Japan I ended up shipping back 6 boxes of plushies and other prizes from claw machines there. Cheaper, easier to win and JP exclusive Pokemon plushies.

      • Nice one, did you get many of those tickets from claw ticket machines?

        • +3

Tens of thousands. Unfortunately I attracted a crowd and eventually the staff. I was "banned" from the store but my account and card is fine. Fortunately I was an interstate visitor so they'll forget about it in a few years.

          • @Clear: Care to share your secret? =)

            • +1

@mwclih: The machine was broken. There's no secret.

  • -1

Timezone used to be so much better.

  • +4

Don't forget that the credits expire after 1 year. Loaded up $60 last time on this deal, life got in the way for the past year and when we finally wanted to use it last weekend, they had expired. That's $60 down the drain.

    • +1

That's if you don't use it. If you go once every two months, it'll be 12 months from last use

      • It's not hard for them to show expiry of the credit in the app lol

  • My son is going to Melbourne next month on a school camp and they are going to kingpin one night something different for him not even a single arcade game in our regional town.

  • +1

LOL wtf, the promos I have in my app have $20 voucher for all states except NSW and QLD, and another QLD only. Of course I'm in NSW, fml.

    • +2

they ran the nsw vouchers until like the end of june, the other state vouchers came in a bit later after the nsw voucher dropped so that's why you'll probably only see other states vouchers for a bit

  • +1

Please note that most "skill" based prize games are programmed to only allow you to win once certain overall money-in thresholds have been reached.

  • -3

    "games" 😂

  • Hot damn! I have just reloaded yesterday!

    • check your app as ypu might have won an instant prize, and you wuld have been entered into the 4x 5k travel voucher comp

      • Nope. 3x reload in recent times. 1 got tix and 2 got none / draw.

        This is better.

  • Can I keep any unused bonus credit for use beyond 30 July?

    • Yes

  • For those unaware there's a $28/hr timeplay which works out better if you just want to play a bunch of non ticket games

    • Considering you can get games for about $1.20 each in this deal, you would need to be playing more than 23 games per hour to even break even with that, and then you dont get any tickets. For a good player that could be over 10k tickets

      • 23 games an hour? those are rookie numbers.. you can tap the card every 40 seconds so you rotate it on your kids

  • -2

Good news for the no-lifers camping the rhythm games 24/7

    • +1

Ikr! I can't play my DDRs anymore (but it's good to see girls playing DDR - too bad they didn't do it in their TXUs / Lorna Janes)
