Update: As a part of the new Accor Plus feature, I have also been credited with 20 status nights towards my gold. If you are starting from scratch, you will start at silver + 20 status nights, so will only need 10 more to achieve Gold. For Accor, the sweet spot is Platinum where the real benefits start to kick in like free breakfast and access to the executive lounge.

Similar to previous deals being offered in our Southeast Asian countries, Explorer Plus membership is offered in limited regions, Indonesia and Malaysia, from a quick search.

My partner already has the Accoe Plus via Amex Platinum. I just signed up as it was cheaper to book two nights worth $530 with this $388.

Note: You can't book two consecutive nights even though you have two free nights. Either you will have to make two separate bookings at the same hotel and reach out to them to make sure they are combined or two different hotels.

I used Surfshark to ensure I wasn't transferred to the AU website. Paid using Wise, AU Amex was being rejected.

Free coupons: MY and ID offer free coupons to use in respective countries. I have entered my Aussie address, so let's see if the kit makes it to me. Otherwise, I am still pretty happy with the digital card.

        I recently managed to renew my previously AU Accor Plus to the Indonesian version. I signed up via an Accor Plus salesperson (not online) and they had to do a "process" to transfer the membership to Indonesia which took ~1 week. I was also told that there is going to be an increase in the membership price some time in November (not sure if this is true - please take with a grain of salt).

        This process is obviously less convenient, but I did it because of similar reason to retain my points & status nights.

            @R3XNebular: I don't believe so. As far as I know bookings will always be in the hotel's local currency.

            I can't really think of any downside. All benefits (dining discounts, red hot rooms) should be exactly the same.

                @R3XNebular: Yes, for me it took ~1 week to transfer. The benefits only became active after this transfer was completed. My accor membership number stays the same, along with that my status nights and points were also retained.

      Both 2 nights. One is via Malaysia and other Indonesia. They will give you country specific coupons as well in post.

      I haven't received anything yet, not sure if it will make it to Australia.

    Just confirmed. Support Helpline could not help me with the Accor plus Malaysian membership. They are only willing for Australian membership.

    Oh well. Better stick to my IHG and Hilton programs.

              @abs898: Yeah no need for 5 star buffets, local foods are cheap and delicious. In Thailand they got that eatigo app anyway if you want to get half price buffets and the like.

              I'd probably use the two rooms in Aus, accommodation isn't that cheap anymore.

            @G-rig: I wouldn’t mind if it’s easy to do. I had the Accor plus from Fiji before and found it useful in Asia. With covid travel restrictions all gone we like to travel to Singapore Indonesia and Thailand again.

            But getting around to obtain the explorer plus deal from Malaysia is proving to be hassle not worth my time. I think ihg will suffice. I was hoping Accor to be another additional option for me but since they dun like my business then it’s their loss.

                  @Jared17: Having your account locked or stuck with previous country is pretty standard with any brand, just just hotels. Usually they have to manually change countries.

    I've now used my Stay Plus nights after helping a few on here check availability. Can someone please check the Fairmont Blue Mountains between 10-13 October. Room for 4 (2 adults, 2 kids). There is a Red Hot Room rate for $199 so want to see if the free nights are available and if there is any extra surcharge. I have 2x one night bookings and I paid an extra $100 on top of free night for each night.

    Seems a lot more expensive but I can't tell what you get.
    Is it $388 and you get 2 free nights (non consecutive) over the 1 year membership period? And 50% off restaurants?

    My brain's not computing well today so I'm sure it's a deal, I just don't quite get it yet.

    I'm looking at using it for Vietnam in particular.

    @abs898 thanks so much for the post, I found it super helpful and am pumped to have pulled the trigger.
    I just realised that "Your Accor Plus membership is valid for 12 months until the final day of the month shown on the membership card." which means had I waited two more days I'd have gotten pretty much an additional month has I started my membership on the 30th of October. Perhaps you could pop this in the description so no one else makes my error?

                @abs898: Turns out it was my card, no idea why. I have foreign transactions on, never had an issue using it for anything ever before.
