Bonus 70,000 Qantas FF Points with Citi Ready Credit ($199 Establishment Fee, Minimum Loan $5,000 90 Days, 6.9% p.a.) @ Citibank

550

Received an email today from Citibank with an offer of 70,000 bonus points for signing up to Citi Ready Credit and taking a $5,000 within 3 months.

I am unsure if this is targeted and what credit cards would be required to hold. I have a Citi Prestige.

It would seem you can pay off the full amount fairly early. A quick look would suggest worse case is $89 in interest and the $199 establishment fee. Not a bad cost per point.

      • I don't know i just checked my car insurance, it's $140/month, about $20 more expensive than my existing one. 3 months it would be $60, and that for 40k points is well worth it.

    • When I looked for my car, it was like 4000 bonus points! Now it says 20k points, but its nearly $900 where most others are $500 MAX.

So you're paying for the points.

      • So let's say $400 is the difference, you spread it over 12 months, that's like $40. So $120 over 3 months for 20k points. YOu should only do it by month payment

        • Yeah, it's just worth it but you can buy 20k points for $200!

Its a bit of effort for 8k points bonus!

          But I get it!

      • The insurance was $170 more than virgin who weren't offering points for the 2nd year so $170 for 23k was worth it for me and I'm in points club plus and I'd like to stay there.

i had the 70k bonus velocity points in March, the whole process was very seamless and simple to handle for me, in March the balance transfer amount required was only $500 not the $5000 we are seeing now, not sure if i'm now qualified for the Qantas version of this.

    • agree, I'll follow this thread and see how you go.

Based on my experience with about 1x Citi Ready Credit, 1 Citi Personal Loan and 1 NAB Personal Loan - You are eligible. You haven't applied for Citi Ready Credit with Qantas points offer.

Can someone break this down so it's the least cost? Do I need to be a Citibank member?

I am interested in the Qantas.

Thinking to finance the new car, 6.9% sounds not too bad comparing to current home loan around 5.9-6.x% already (for people suggesting take equity from home loan).

  • I wonder if anyone's done this, and then checked their credit score?

I just realized through Commonwealth Bank, I can check my credit score like instantly and free, and it doesn't give you a credit here!

If I decide to apply for this because of the points, I would be interested to see where my credit score is!

  • this is pretty sneaky, just like pearl harbour, that was pretty sneaky too

  • I just got the velocity deal, can I change to Qantas?

    • Ring and ask?

Do you know how badly, if it'll it affected your credit score??

  • +1

My broker replied to me: I wouldn’t worry about your credit score , some banks don’t even use credit score at all on homeloans

She use to work for Commbank, she said being 800+ puts you in the top tier.

  • Applied today.
Currently hold over $30k in CC (for the grind)

    • Did you apply for a balance transfer during the sign up or gonna call them to get the promotional rate? Or not planning on spending the $5k and just leaving eg $1 so don't care about the rate?

      • Just got approved. I did the balance transfer during sign up. I think I'll pay $4999 and keep $1 for 3 months? Need to check the other comments

        • Yeah just applied as well and ended up answering my own questions after going through the entire process lol. Now just waiting to see about the $1 balance thing since one of the previous comments mentioned minimum monthly repayments so might have to leave more than that in there maybe.

        • When were you asked to provide QFF number for this? I was approved a couple of days ago and I just transferred the $500. Now I'm second guessing myself whether or not I clicked on the campaign link or if I went straight to the website without the offer…

          • +1

@neme: I just got the link for the FF. Up to a month after the transfer

            • @Koipanda: Just following up since you're ahead of me, what was the minimum monthly repayment required on your first statement? Trying to minimise the debit balance.

        • Did you pay $4999 upfront? Is there any monthly payment?

          • +2

            @karma25: @vawiyoci @karma25

            So i paid $4501, meaning i had $499 left.

            I was charged this yesterday:
            ESTABLISHMENT FEE AUD 199.00
INTEREST CHARGED -PROMO RATE AUD 5.47

I'll just pay $450 and leave the rest for 2 more months

            • @Koipanda: Thanks for the follow-up. So was there not a minimum payment option like you'd get with a credit card? eg your balance owing is $1k but minimum payment is $26 or whatever etc.

            • @Koipanda: Thanks, I also got $199 charged, I kept a balance for $3 and paid remaining amount.

              • @karma25: @karma25 @vawiyoci

I got my 70,000 Qantas points. Just over 1 and a bit months since applying.

Somehow thought it was going to take 3 months but this is good. time to close :D

                • @Koipanda: Great, they haven't asked me for QFF number yet.

                  • @karma25: Try following up with them through their messaging system. I did that

                    • @Koipanda: Just recieved email to provide QFF number.

                • @Koipanda: How long it took for points to be credited after you provided your QFF number to Citibank?

                  • @karma25: I got my 70k points today. Paid the balance in full, going to close the account.

  • I did the velocity one, the timeline is as follows:

Applied in October, card came in November

November 6: Requested balance transfer $500, paid off $450 instantly
November 17: Points came and account closed.

    No establishment fee charged.

    • Wow so you didn't have to wait the full 3 months? Feel like they would've fixed that since then lol.

      • Nope, I got the email asking for my Velocity Number maybe 1 week after the balance transfer. I basically waited 11 days.
