What is Allianz Swim Club?

  • Royal Life Saving Australia research has found that 1 in 4 adults are either weak swimmers or cannot swim at all.
  • Allianz Swim Club is a free swimming program available across 5 states, aimed at getting adults confident in the water.

Ready is our mission

  • Allianz Swim Club normalises not knowing how to swim by creating lessons exclusive to and designed for adults – preparing them to be confident in the water.
  • Knowing how to swim provides an opportunity to get more involved in your local community and embrace the very best of Australian culture, of which swimming and the ocean are so central.

Swim Club dates

  • We invite all adults who don’t know how to swim to register for our free 8-week learn-to-swim program. The program will commence on 9 October 2023.
  • We’re kicking off Allianz Swim Club with 800 participants, in 15 pools across 5 states.

Register your interest

  • Join our inclusive learn-to-swim program in partnership with AUSTSWIM and Masters Swimming Australia. Registrations will close at 11:59 PM AEST on 1 September 2023.
  • Successful registrants will be notified by email.

Terms and conditions

Allianz Swim Club opens for registration at 12.00 PM AEST on Thursday 20 July 2023 and closes at 11:59 PM AEST on Friday 1 September 2023. It has a capacity limit of up to 800 swimmers, and is unreserved (first-come, first-served) and is available to all Australian citizens and non-citizens over the age of 18. To be eligible to participate, you must be a non-swimmer: an absolute beginner who has never had swimming lessons and cannot swim.

Allianz Swim Club is limited to 8 lessons across 8 weeks which will take place between October and December 2023. Depending on your state and/or pool, your start date and lesson times and/or schedule may differ.

The Allianz Swim Club voucher is non-transferrable, cannot be exchanged for cash and is only redeemable at one of 15 selected pools across 5 states, including New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia. The vouchers expire at 11:59 PM AEST on 7 September 2023. Once vouchers are redeemed at one of the selected 15 selected pools, swimmers are subject to that pool’s rules, regulations and code of conduct.

The offer of a 3-month Masters Swimming Australia membership is only eligible to swimmers who complete the Allianz Swim Club 8-week program and is available for registration until 31 December 2023.

This is the only way to learn.

100%. They should teach this in schools

    • That's pretty much identical to what my swim instructor did to me when I was like 5. It didn't work.

    • +1

What, by acting like you can't in the manner of a child actor in 1953?

  • +9

The closest swimming facility to the city is 2 hours drive……

    • +2

      Mine's a 4hr drive back to Sydney

    • +3

can't you swim up / downstream to swimming facility?

    • +2

Kill 2 birds with 1 stone, learn drive and swim at the same time :p

    • Cairns, Mackay, Noosa …

      • All these locations near me!

Please learn to read and think before negging a deal.

Outdoor pools can be heated you penalty box word

      • From October to December I think it's Summer time so I don't understand why people are complaining about outdoor pools?
Also people can wear a suit too.

    • Maybe they will provide wetsuits.

    • usyd pool is indoor anyway

    • Well that's just incorrect.
Way to research before posting, but what's new for internet?

  • Nice one locals, Bravo

  • +1

I had registered yesterday but got rejected.

    • 3 days old news and averaging 53 places per pool so don't have high hope, especially for the ones that are closer to the city.

    • Because places were already filled? Or some other reason? I might get a relative signed up if spots are still available

  • +2

They should also offer free driving lessons so we can drive there.

  • +2

They offer free course, but it will cost me full tank of petrol for return trip..

  • +4

Fantastic initiative, great opportunity for the 800 who manage to get themselves a spot. Wonderful skill to learn.

I’m not a strong swimmer myself but I can get by, I can only image what it must be like to not be able to swim at all.

Swimming is an incredibly important life skill some of us weren’t lucky enough to be taught.

Learning in a group with others helps remove the stigma and anxiety. I would like to see more of this.

Why does it feel like there’s a reason they’re not teaching Tasmanians to swim for free

    • +13

Tasmanians have naturally webbed fingers and toes

    • As in insurance company, they have calculated their higher risk and therefore lower profitability as target customers.

  • +1

Hey I'm a loser! don't lump these swimmless hippies in with my lot.

  • +2

This is amazing, thank you so much OP. My wife is from Latin America and hates that she’s doesn’t know how to swim with our daughter. This is perfect to get her confidence up!

  • +1

The closest pool in VIC is Frankston 50km away from city. And it is full now. Thanks anyway.

  • +4

Rock up pretending not being able to swim and by the end be the top student and then get that swimming medal I always wanted :')

  • is there a waitlist if one of the locations is full?

  • Darn, tried to sign someone up for Darlington but it says 'Lessons Full' :(

  • +1

Thanks OP. Interesting that Townsville is left out, given its size.

  • toooooo farrrrrrrrr

  • +2

I'll just turn up, pretend to not swim for entry.

After class head to the lanes for my set of laps.

    Ozbargained!

    • Ahaha love this

    Great locations NOT

  • Have Signed up couple of days back got a confirmation of registration email saying ,
Keep an eye on your inbox and we’ll be in touch soon with more information once your place in the program is confirmed.

    Not sure what happens next

  • The majority of drownings come from people with ethnic backgrounds. Those (NSW) locations definitely do not represent that cohort of people.

  • just throw them in the pool, let natural selection take it's course.

  • All vic sessions gone. Shame I actually really needed this

  • Any suggestions for improving swimming techniques in VIC?

Like an intermediate class or school, but for adults?

  • Now only available for two locations, QLD - Noosa and Mackay. Probably needs to be updated to reflect now QLD only.
