  • damn, tempting
    this lowest ever?

    • +3

Cheapest I've seen, I paid $772.16 with ebay coupons a few months ago.

  • +2

Damn I wanna play horizon in VR so bad!

    • +13

they need half life Alyx in their library

    • +1

I enjoyed Call of the Mountain but to be honest it feels more like an Uncharted game than Horizon - lots of climbing! Looks great though.

  • Good price

    • +4

      Care to elaborate?

        • +14

          I looked -

Valve Index sold 150,000 units a year at its peak.
          PSVR1 sold approximately 5,000,000 units.
PSVR2 sold 600,000 units in its first 6 weeks of release.

Probably on track to be the best selling VR headset on those numbers. What a 'flop'.

  • +18

I think I'm a bit burnt out on VR. First PSVR and then Quest 2. It's fun for a bit, but in the end of it's just another expensive hobby, no different to the other expensive hobbies of the past. Good for a few months, then that's it. Happy to try something different with life.

  • +9

Feedback: the headset is great, software library is still lacking.

I've got a wheel set up and gt7 with the Wheel and VR is amazing, so if that's of interest, you'll enjoy it.

VR games wise: Horizon was disappointing, pretty but meh gameplay, The walking dead Saints and Sinners was great though.

    • +4

Plenty of fairly big games coming in August - Firewall, Crossfire, Phasmophobia. I'm having heaps of fun with Synapse at the moment. I probably have less play time than most but I still haven't even started RE:Village (which seems to be the best rated game so far) or half the demos.

But yeah, GT7 in VR with a wheel is fantastic.

      • +2

re4 remake will be amazing also

    • +2

Man, I wish PSVR2 would work properly on PC. That would be the ultimate combination given Valve has decided to just abandon PC for the time being.

      • +4

It's coming, great progress has been made. https://twitter.com/iVRy_VR/status/1680416154890665984

        • +1

Oh shit. If they get that happening I am 100% in.

I would honestly buy an Index after using my mate's one, but I'm not prepared to pay 2x retail for a grey import. EB Games seem to have deleted it from their website entirely…

      • +2

psvr is a hit and miss - if you have VD one day it works great, the next its laggy, there are always small issues if you go wireless etc but psvr2 - you just plug in and it works, no fiddling around, no adjusting - its great out of the box and headset specs are better then anything on the market if im not wrong

        • Wait, you're saying it works right now on PC? With the controllers?

        • +3

If you have VD (venereal disease), I'm pretty sure you've got bigger issues than lag…

  • +2

Good to see price is coming down. So tempting at this price, but sadly I've got 4 huge games to finish up before I spend more on new hardware / games :| (and omg, few other games on game pass that I installed but didn't play)

    • Ditto those sentiments. I doubt I'll be done with my current backlog before Armored Core 6 either, which I'll probably drop everything for and be playing for ages too.
      Very tempting though.

  • +4

I think I'd bite when it hits under $400 if it ever does, but otherwise still is just way too expensive given how limited of an experience you'll get (i.e., you'd likely play through the entire games catalogue in 3 months or so atm). Happy to wait for much cheaper prices in 2 or 3 years and with a few more games available.

    • +3

There are 90-odd games out already, some of which you could play just about forever (GT7, Pavlov, Walkabout Mini Golf) and more coming out pretty regularly. The only way I'd say the library is lacking is if you're coming from another platform like Quest 2 because a fair few are ports.

      • +4

There are some baffling omissions though.

No good mech games, for example? Where the hell is my VR mechwarrior game, Sony?

No good flight sims at all?

Very limited driving games outside of GT?

No-one has gone and asked the Ace Combat people to make the whole of Ace Combat 7 work for PSVR2 (which would be the best VR game on the market if they did it)?

Far, far too many of the games are gimmicky things that are little more than tech demos IMHO.

The hardware is amazing but the games are jut not there.

      • +2

$500 for me… Just tried it on my friends PSVR2. Keen for call of the mountain and RE series for VR . Beat Saber looks the same as PSVR1. For me $500-$600 is the sweet spot.

  • +3

If/when this works on PC it will be an instant buy for me

  • +10

Fk I bought one…need to keep off ozbargain

    • +8

If I had kept off Ozbargain, I would have owned a house by now

    • +3

I regretted buying mine on impulse on the $774 -$20 cashback but after playing it for a couple of months it’s been sensational. There are enough games already and more will come.
HCoTM was my first ever VR game and it’s an awesome intro to VR
Red Matter 2 was also excellent
GT7 is pretty cool. Haven’t gone too far yet but it’s so much better in VR
Plenty of time wasters like walk about mini golf, rythym games like beat saber, zombieland etc.
But I just started RE Village and this is epic in VR! Terrifyingly immersive albeit with cut scenes that destroy the immersion…
I’ve still got no man’s sky, Star Wars tales from the galaxy’s edge and synapse to even look at.
Sure, there needs more bigger exclusives and hard core gamers might be disappointed but for the average casual gamer there is a heap of really good content already

  • +3

Great Deal, I bought it for $772.16 when eBay was doing a sale with The Gamesmen.

Great unit, lots of fun with games like Resident Evil and GT7.

I'm yet to play Horizon Call of The Mountain but I'll get to it when I find time as time is precious when you have a young family.

Expensive outlay, but good fun and a good option to get into VR gaming if you have a PS5.

  • Oh is this out already?!

  • +1

thanks i got in there! just finished horizon forbidden west and loved it.

  • I would love to get this mainly for Gran Turismo 7 as well as a few others (eg Tetris Effect, No Man's Sky). But just too worried that it'll make me feel sick, and even at this price it's a hell of a lot of money for something I might not be able to use.

    • +1

thats the biggest issue with psvr2 - if you never played vr before you get thrown in a game like Horizon and your instantly sick as.
it took me a long time to get used to quest2, and they have lots of nice little easy games you can do

      • +1

Most games have comfort options - I know Horizon had the 'swing arms to move forward' setting, as well as click turning vs smooth movement, vignettes on movement, all that kind of thing.
First time VR players I normally put into something like Pistol Whip or Beat Saber though.

    • Maybe Amazon would accept to send it back due to making you feel sick?

      • yes, you have a month to return with Amazon - so best to buy it from here

    • +1

Take this before playing till you build some stamina.

  • +5

Late to the party guys. Be more like me, buy on pre order, pay $200 more. Let it mostly sit because you can't find the time. Go to ozbargain half a year later and imagine how I could have spent that $200. Has it been worth $200 to me to be able to say from Day 1, "yeah, I've got one!" Spolier : nope.

    • +1

      Count me in that club.
Though I did use the $100 Amex offer to somewhat soften the blow. Totally justifies (hah, not really) the half hour I spent on the bundled Horizon since launch.

  • Darn I just sold my wheel..

  • +6

My wife bought this on a whim (she makes good money) and I told her not to, because psvr1 was a failure and it's all a gimmick.

    I was wrong.

We haven't played a non vr game since April, many great games. GT7 alone is almost worth it (yeah, even with just the controller)

    It's pretty cool, recommend it

    • +1

I'm with you mate. I sold the PS VR 1 after a month. I even had this for sale on the day I bought it as I went straight into games like RE Village and got sick. Ended up keeping it (even after I had a buyer lined up) after the wife said give it time. I always thought I was a flat screen gamer and this was always a device to play short sessions on the side.

Since launch of the PS VR 2 I have barely touched the PS5 for flat screen gaming. You will see so many opinions around here about "theres no games" but I guarantee you 95% of them are people that only look for AAA games and won't try anything else. I am actually like that with flat screen titles most of the time.

I have played the following and found they all have been great. GT7, RE Village, Walkabout Golf, Synapse, Before Your Eyes, Moss Book 1 and 2, Switchback VR, Rez, Tetris, Thumper, Beat Saber, Zombieland, Runner, Nock, Pistolwhip. Only games I haven't loved are Hubris and Saints and Sinners (that made me a bit nauseas but might get back into it).

This has been one of my favourite consoles ever and I never thought I would say that 6 months ago about a VR headset. And we aren't even 6 months into the life cycle.

  • Does this include the playstation too or is it just the headset?

    • +3

Just the headset, controllers and game - BYO PS5.

      • Ahh thankyou for clearing this up for me. Much appreciated 😀
I thought this was a complete package and was gonna jump on it lol.

        • +1

Bro imagine getting a game, a PSVR2 and a PS5 for a few bucks more than just the PS5 itself.

  • +1

For me Games and Movies both are equally important features when it came to buy VR. I bought it when it was released but that time I didn’t knew that there is no 3D movies support and there were not much games to play so i returned. I played Horizon and it was pretty awesome. VR2 is lot better than VR1 but unfortunately missing 3D movies feature that it had. I will grab it in sec if they release some updates to support 3D movies.

  • +1

How's the experience for people with the glasses?

    • I wear glasses and play with them on the majority of the time, no issues - maybe need to leave the lenses out a little further just to make sure they don't contact when I'm moving so get a slightly reduced FOV.
There are a few different manufacturers offering prescription lenses for the headset which are a good option if it'll mostly be one person using it - they do clip in and out so other people can still use it though.

    • id say you need to fork out for lenses - game changer

      • Doesn't this then make it not work for people with good vision?

        • you can remove them easily if you dont need them - they just clip in

  • +2

if they had HL Alyx - I would so by this

    Does this have backward compatibility?

    • +1

No backwards compatibility (because the control system has totally changed), so you can only play PS VR2 games with this.

    • Lack of BC is a real curse.

One or two great ones we're missing

      • no BC - damn not worth the jump right now

        • Heaps of content being converted by devs. Lots already there.
Six months in with heaps of games and enough on the Horizon to satisfy most users. Only hard core gamers would be disappointed

  • If you haven't bought it yet don't miss on JB Hi-FI bonus $50 deal on your next purchase, first get JB to price match amazon using the chat then buy it today only 31/7/23 to get the deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/790268

  • is playstation vr2 or quest 2 better?

    • My take on it is if you have a PS5 go for it. I have one. If not, look at alternatives. Wouldn't probably buy a PS5 just because I wanted to hit VR.

      • PSVR2 is technically better in pretty much every way, but Quest ecosystem is more open and the headset is wireless - great to be able to play anywhere but with the con of also managing battery life etc
In terms of power it's comparing a PS5 to a mobile chip, but so far a lot of games are ports so the library isn't as different as it should be - yet.

    • +1

Personally I prefer my original Oculus Rift to the PSVR2. I actually sold my PSVR2 a week after I bought it. I understand that technically the PSVR2 is much better but I found the headset to be much more uncomfortable and harder to get into the sweet spot which really ruined the experience for me as I could never get comfortable. That and the lack of games. I'm holding out for the Quest 3 in a few months time.

  • +1

PSVR2 Desperately needs heavy hitting creamy & ground breaking (non-ported) VR games

as it currently stands - I don’t think it’s good value.

  • +4

Its now showing even cheaper at 741.42. I'm super tempted but not sure if this will be a 1 week thing and then collecting dust like my mates one.

  • This or Meta quest 3? I'm leaning meta because of certain non gaming content that I'd be keen to try out…

  • Decided to return mine.. not as good as ppl say it is..
