For a6700, I’d rather get the sony 70-350. Cheaper, better range, lighter and a dedicated APSC lens

    • I dont know much about lens, one is APS-C lens and another is FF lens, not directly comparable. For A6700, sony 70-350 is value for money.

      F4@200mm is pretty sweet though.

    • If you are considering an FF lens for APS-C camera, you're considering wrong.

70-350mm APSC is a GREAT lens. I also use it on an A7R full frame set up in crop mode if Im trying to keep weight down when hiking and want a Long zoom and a lot cheaper than the 70-200

  • Wish the coupon applied to the teleconvertor bundle!

  • This or tamron 70-180 f2.8?

      horses for courses.
I owned the Tamron 70-180 and it was fantastic!
However I recently sold it when I upgraded to the 35-150 F2-2.8 as it basically gave me a leave-on-all-day lens when I don’t need my sigma 35/1.2.
If you can make do with 180mm vs 200mm, then There’s a very good chance 150mm will also be adequate. Having 35mm vs 70mm on the shortens is a SIGNIFICANT difference/advantage.

It depends what you shooter. They’re probably a similar size and weight, if you aren’t into shooting postage stamps close up you may find the 70-180 better, 3 dimensions of IS vs 5 from the sonys OSS, but the in body IS is still very good.

IMHO the 35-150 is the most amazing zoom lens I’ve ever used. I recently acquired the 70-300 for $630 as I posted here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/789832 which is a lot of range for a low price and weight.

  • Tempting, if I didn’t have the sigma 70/2.8 macro already… personally hard to do macro with a longer focal length pile 150 or 200 but this lens is very exciting.

Most of all I wish someone would make a new version of the Tokina 100-300 F4.

  • Thanks OP, picked one up! Was eyeing the Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 for some time, but the macro abilities (I shoot food) of this and stabilisation do it for me.
