qn85b is an IPS screen. just saying! not too suitable for dark room viewing.

    • +2

on the other hand, wide viewing angles and outstanding brightness really good for watching sport whole family on one long couch

      • Go for qn90 think its a VA panel and has the brightness to suit daytime usage in large room.

        • I got Frame 65" for $920 from one of Samsung deals involving loyalty discount

it's sufficient for daytime watching (north facing room, floor to ceiling windows), but I imagine qn90 would give a solid boost for brightness

otherwise I normally run my Frame in Filmmaker mode for milder colours and less aggressive brightness, but I may be on sensitive side I guess. can't imagine what it would be like handling twice the brightness output of QN90..

  • Waiting for some 65" deals!

    • The deal has now a 65" as well.

  • anyone actually gotten there samsung tvs from deals in the previous month or so?

I feel your pain mate. My son is also in a toy throwing phase and cracked my OLED just this week.

I just received my Samsung QN90B Neo QLED 4K Smart TV (2022) $999 from this deal. Very happy with the exceptional TV.

    • Missed on that .should have got one

    • That is a stellar deal - thought I had it great with sub $1343 a few months back.

      Nice 👍🏻

    • Hey mate, what sort of shipping/tracking information did you receive? I ordered on 25/7 for delivery on 4/8. Shipping notification on 27/7. No updates using the provider tracking number. I’ve taken the day off work to be home for delivery, but I’m not confident it’s actually going to be delivered.

  • I'm trying to select a good 85 inch tv in the 2-2.5k range. The compare TVs option on the Samsung website is crap, it doesn't even compare the refresh rate of the screen. How tf do I chose what's best between models when there is so little information? Q70B and Q70C seem literally the same on paper. Any tips will be much appreciated.

    • I m in the same boat

I google for reviews personally. A decent number will compare the A to B or B to C in reviews, or at least I found that to be the case when looking at the QN90B which was compared against the previous years A model. The A, B, C progression seems to be a year by year increment, and at least for the QN90’s wasn’t massive and something reviews would refer to. The fact they’re immediate successors makes it more likely those models are compared directly also, as articles often will point out if getting last years model on clearance is a better buy or not.

Comparing other models is a bit harder. Again I googles the model numbers and hoped that someone had discussed them.

Can pay to ignore the display size too as long as your point of comparison has the same specs outside of the size. Reviews may focus on one size but point out if other sizes have any points of differentiation worth considering.

It is a hassle and takes a bit of time but.

      • Careful about using different size of the same model as a reference as manufacturers quite often have different specs for different sized models. An example is the larger tvs sometimes have more dimming zones but can see poor optimisation of all the additional zones (software). Other times its a whole different panel type, I forget which Samsung tv it was but the large 85" model had a whole different panel type 🤨

    • I have ordered 85 inch X90K from Jb-hifi 2 weeks back, it is supposed to be delivered by 15th August, so yeah I m waiting.
Got the TV in $2250 after getting 22% discount and gift card (5%) discount.

Although I wanted QN90B from samsung, but the cheapest I was getting $4500 for 85 inch so left it

      • Did this ever get delivered? How is it?

  • Do these deals come every so often or is this a once a year clearance or?

How do i login on my .edu email to check Samsung’s verification code?

    • That's isane of you to ask , seriously!

      • -2

        Yes
        How do we login?

  • Dang, 85” qled, so tempting.

What’s the issue with it in a dark room?
    Is it too bright?

    • +1

Will have a uniform backlight rather than Local Dimming or per pixel OLED. Rtings write up on the differences but TLDR is dark scenes will look like shit and be hard to make out any image detail when watched in a dark room.
