I usually pay my bills. I use them the moment I get into the car in the car park, rip open the packaging and spend them.

The hackers hopefully have next to no chance of hacking my cards.

    • I either convert to Woolies GCs with 4% off or recharge my myKi with them

  • @WookieMonster When is the 10% offer due in SA (October?) Need to cue up a bonus spend credit card to match..

    • Is it Oct? I wouldn't mind a bunch!

I use them to buy wine from wholesales, extra 10% off. I paid my council rates too, no issue.

Last time my flybuys had five or 10 times bonus points as well so it was pretty close to a true 10% off even including the fee!

      • Points dont apply to giftcards off memory?

    • +1

I have given up on predicting timings for 10% off prepaid gift card deals, because Coles this year has shown they really do not want to follow a pattern anymore.

If they were going to stick to the old pattern, it would have been mid-October.

      • Seems like it's happened interstate a few times already this year.

        • Yeah they've chopped it up and applied various 10% off deals to different States but then not others, not following previous years patterns. So it's all up in the air as to predictability at the moment.

          • @wavesgreen: To make matters worse, they have implemented some weird policy about needing a fully registered FB card.

            • @t25: Isn't there a person here on Ozb that said they have "17" FB accnts.

              • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: @Neoika perhaps?

                • +1

                  @wavesgreen: No, had 13, now 8.

Pre 2019, the bonus on this Prepaid MasterCard was limited to once per flybuys per promotion only. Hence, more flybuys enabled one to do more each time.

                  • @Neoika: How'd you loose 5?

                    • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: After it started asking phone number, they became a hassle.

                      • @Neoika: Do you have multiple on the same number? Wondering if multiple on the same number stops them getting good FB offers as one of mine is a complete dud on offers, they also never sent the card an no option to resend, had to ring up and request over phone for the card.

              • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: I had 11 everyday rewards account now down to 8 active. I have 3 FB accounts because that is how many velocity cards I control and can use for redemptions. It works out ok with rotating the bonus offers.

            • @t25: Yep can't do ringer FB cards any more.

Hi there, does anyone know what number to call if there is issue with the Coles MasterCard Gift Card? My card got an ON HOLD status for more than a month and not able to contact Customer Service on +61 7 5660 6022 stated at the back of the card. I tried to call Coles directly and got redirected around and around, unable to speak to any team responsible. Appreciate your help in advance.

    • +1

not able to contact Customer Service on +61 7 5660 6022 stated at the back of the card

      Try 1300 304 990

      • Hi @wavesgreen
Thanks for the suggestion. I did called 1300 304 990 and a few others listed below, however, got redirected from one team to another. Not able to reach to the "incomm" team which was suggested. I wonder if anyone has the same issue and able to talk to Customer Service for this card.

        1800 061 562
        1300 306 397
        1300 095 072
        1800 061 562

        • Could it be an issue with the card not being activated at time of purchase? Do you have the receipt from time of purchase?

        • Paging @WookieMonster …

    • +8

+61 7 5660 6022 is the correct phone number to contact for assistance with Coles Mastercard gift cards.

I have called that phone number in the past to hear a gift card’s balance, as well as when I needed a customer service rep to have one of my gift cards unblocked. There was one time where I dialled the phone number above and the call dropped out after a couple of seconds. I suspect the phone lines were all busy when I called, so I tried again later and it worked.

The phone number above is for InComm. InComm is the gift card scheme owner, so they are the only company that can resolve the issue for you.

      • You will see Coles branding on the gift cards, but Coles is not really in a good position to help you, as Coles merely allows InComm to use the Coles brand on these gift cards. Coles also acts as a seller of Coles Mastercard gift cards, but Coles is not as helpful as you would think they should be, because the product you purchased was a gift card, so there is an issuer and/or a scheme owner you can contact for assistance.

      • You will also see Heritage Bank listed on the gift card as the issuer, but that is because InComm has contracted Heritage Bank to assist in the financial administration of the gift card scheme (which I understand is necessary for InComm to be able to operate this gift card scheme in Australia).

Whilst we are talking about phone numbers…

      • 1300 304 990 is the Coles Group gift card team. They cannot help, as they can only really help with gift cards issued by Coles Group (of which the Coles Mastercard gift cards is not one of them, despite the Coles branding on the gift card) and sales of gift cards through the giftcards.com.au website.

      • 1800 061 562 is the Coles Customer Care team. Theoretically speaking, if you purchased a gift card from Coles and it turns out there is an issue with the gift card (e.g. it was not activated correctly at a Coles Supermarket), this team should be helping, as they are the customer service team for the seller of the gift card. However, they cannot actually change the status of the gift card from ON HOLD to ACTIVE, as that is something only InComm can realistically do. (I mean, Coles Customer Care could chase up InComm in regards to this, but I do not know if that is something that Coles Customer Care actually does.)

      • 1300 306 397 is for Coles Credit Cards, which are issued by NAB. NAB has nothing to do with this gift card scheme.

      • 1300 095 072 is for Coles Gift Mastercards, which were the predecessor Coles-branded prepaid gift card scheme operated by Indue before Coles dumped Indue in favour for InComm and the Coles Mastercard gift cards. Indue cannot help, as that is a completely separate company from InComm.

My suggestions are in the following order:

      1. Try calling +61 7 5660 6022 again. I just called it and was immediately put through to the menu options (with the annoying American voiceover).

      2. Failing that, send an email to [email protected], explaining that you have been trying to get through to someone at InComm to resolve this issue without success. Heritage Bank probably cannot fix the issue themselves, as I do not think their scope of work (i.e. financial administration) actually covers your problem. However, they may be able to push InComm from their end and help you get a satisfactory resolution.

      3. Failing that, lodge a complaint against Heritage Bank through AFCA.

Thanks @WookieMonster for the detailed reply. Just called +61 7 5660 6022 and got picked up today. Issues solved. Appreciate everyone who helped on this.

Would like to confirm that the Supermarket Visa Card from ShopBack can be used to purchase the Mastercard. Thanks.

    • +1

Thanks for reporting that. What gift card did you use? I’m assuming you have to buy at least a $200 gift card to cover the $105 cost of one card. No good multiple of a $105 gift card available so a lot will be left over on the Visa card. This is assuming you can’t do split payments or you did through a manned checkout?

      • -4

I am sorry. I meant I would like a confirmation.

      • I did a split payment today purchasing a $100 ColesMC gift card plus some groceries with two SB Activ Visa cards.

        • Bought a 100$ Supermarket card after reading the misleading comment up top. Attendant said you can't do split payments when buying a gift card (which she said the MC was classified as). Now stuck with the $100 Supermarket card.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: I purchased 2 $100 shopback supermarket visas, and purchased 2 $100 mastercards in 2 transactions, 2 different staff members and both let me split the payment.

            • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Thanks! Just read this comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14140414/redir as well.

Will try later today (if they still have cards then)

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Yeah just try a different staff member, and if refused walk away to another staff member and try again.

                • +1

@HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Worked on the first try. Thank you! Could redeem the $100 visa shopback on which I got $3.50 Cashback. So ended up with the $100 MC for $91.5.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Good to hear.
3.50? Or do you mean 2.50?

Now take that 100mc and use it to buy another SB card, use that to buy another mc,
                    Rinse wash and repeat. :-)

                    • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: $3.5. $2.5 were the regular cashback on the visa. $1 from a challenge on Shopback for an extra 1% on gift cards (which the visa is classified as on the platform)

        • At the self check out you can use $5 cash first and then the Supermarket GC. The system allows this. And they do work.

          • @Yola: Do you mean insert cash first, then choose mixed payment? Yesterday I couldn't buy on self-checkout when I chose mixed payment first. There was an error message. I was going to pay cash with the Supermarket gc.

            • +3

@trixieb: Do not select Mixed Payments. You will trigger the error message every time you are purchasing a gift card and choose that option on the payment screen.

Instead, on the payment screen, select Cash and insert $5. Then go back to the payment screen and choose Card to pay the remaining amount owed (in this example, $100).

              • +1

                @WookieMonster: Thanks
                Will try again

                • +3

@trixieb: Alternatively, if you are on the payment screen and insert $5 without selecting a payment option, the checkout should accept the $5, then you can choose Card as the payment method to pay the remaining amount owed.

              • @WookieMonster: Now to decide if I want to trade ease-of-use for paying with non-discounted cash.

                • @wavesgreen: If I want to do split payments when purchasing a gift card at Coles, I always go to a standard checkout. No need to worry about using non-discounted cash!

                  • @WookieMonster: Can anyone confirm that we can use shopback supermarket(blackhawk) $300+100 one after another one immediately in same check out (self or manned)?? As i tried to use $300 first it was ok but wen i used $100 after that it was declined, even i tried at different coles. but wen i use $300 shopback supermarket gift card then remaining amount from efptos prepaid card i.e. $7-$31, it was ok. i was thinking upto $400 we can use in any variables but was wrong. no idea how they set up for limit $400?!! very confusing.

                    • @R n b: You certainly can't do $400. It is somewhere between $350-400 if you want to try and find out.

                    • @R n b: Wookie has a big post (somewhere) about how the Activ Visa (the SB Supermarket gift card) has a trigger when too many/much gets used within a certain time period. I'd say that's what you are hitting.

                      • -1

@wavesgreen: So if someone did a big shop before you and paid with the Activ Visa, you will be SOL?

If so, that's not a card worth holding onto.

                        • +2

                          @t25: Yes.

The restrictions cover Perfect eftpos gift cards, Activ Visa gift cards (including ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift cards) and OnlyONE Visa gift cards. Blackhawk Network does not distinguish between these gift cards when enforcing their limits. For example:

                          • I once redeemed $231.30 from a Perfect eftpos gift card at Coles and it went through. However, when I moved to a different checkout at the same store and tried to redeem $231.30 from an OnlyONE Visa gift card within a couple of minutes of the first transaction, it was declined by Blackhawk Network (Invalid Transaction).

                          • By extension, if someone redeemed $300 from a ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card to pay for their large grocery shop up to ten minutes before I attempt to redeem $210 from a Perfect eftpos gift card to pay for gift cards (or groceries), my Perfect eftpos gift card will be declined (i.e. I will be SOL).

Blackhawk Network do not want their gift cards to be used to pay for gift cards (and I say this, because the packaging for a physical Activ Visa gift card manufactured in 12/22 says in bold Cannot be used to purchase Gift Cards.) This is one of the controls Blackhawk Network has implemented to enforce this, which is heavy-handed and will catch out people who are actually trying to use their gift cards to pay for an actual grocery shop.

                        • @t25: The moral of the story is don't buy these cards if you are actually looking to spend them on groceries. Someone might have just maxed out the limit with a bunch of gift cards.

                          • @truetypezk: How about 2$100 or 3$100 ??? Can we use one after another or do we need still wait 10 minutes??

                            • @R n b: You couldn't do both of those back-to-back. Need to wait for the cooldown.

                              • +1

                                @wavesgreen: You don't. 3x$100 is absolutely fine.

                                • @truetypezk: No I meant you couldn't do $200 and then $300.

R n B asking if you could do either of those means he hasn't read Wookie's comment, which beggars belief.

                                  • @wavesgreen: Thank you. This is the reply i was looking for.

                                    • @R n b: Are you sure? You are asking if you can use 5x$100 one after another? That would be a very unusual way to phrase your question.

                                  • @wavesgreen: I thought either/or means just 1 of them, not both. I believe he wants to know if he can use 3x$100 (or 2x$100) back to back, which he certainly can.

                                    • @truetypezk: Yes, im asking either 2 $100 or 3 $100 back to back…..not 5 $100.

                            • @R n b: It is somewhere between $350-$400/10 mins, doesn't matter how you mix & match.

                              • @truetypezk: One more question, I assume we can not use this card to pay uni/school fee, rates n bills as it does not have activation fee.Am i right??

                                • @R n b: Nop but you can always use the Coles Mastercards you bought with these for that. You end up earning an extra $7.5 ($2.5+$5)/card.

    • The hassle is remaining balance on them. This route may be better as it is up to $750 for a universal card.

CBA Rewards has a 2% cashback on purchases made in supermarket categorized retailers in August and September.

      • Where do you see the CBA cashback? Nothing like that in my CBA app > Rewards. Is it targeted? I never get anything good there

        • Yes, targeted for low spend customers probably.

It is worth checking as the 2% cashback(up to $30/mth) becomes free money here.

  • +5

    @Yola
Yes the shopback supermarket visa worked.

    • Thank you.

  • Anyone know why the Disney+ cards are $45 for a 3 month subscription? Disney+ monthly subscription is $13.99 … why would the gift card cost more?

    • +1

I'm confused with the pricing too. at least with 2000 points, it becomes the same rate as if you pay annual sub.

    • Perhaps its $45 worth of credit in your Disney+ wallet. Has anyone seen these in the wild to confirm?

      • +2

I had a look at the gift card packaging yesterday, and it said you would need to go to this link to redeem your gift card.

The gift card terms and conditions makes it clear only new and returning Disney+ subscribers can redeem this gift card, which makes it sound like you will not receive $45 of account credit, but you will instead need to create a new account (or choose an existing account with no active subscription) to have three months access assigned to the account.

        • +2

Thanks @WookieMonster for looking into that. Might still be a good deal for some or if you want to gift a physical card. Its a $3.03 premium on an online monthly subscription otherwise.

        • Thanks for taking a look. I tried finding any info about it online but ye it doesn’t say why you’d have to pay an extra $3+ for the gift card. It’s so weird.

          • +1

            @Buyer0fBargains: I have a theory.

Disney probably does not want to absorb the full cost of a new/returning customer using a Disney+ physical gift card to access their service, particularly in light of the recent announcement of another round of subscription cost increases in the US and a large drop in the number of subscribers

For a physical Disney+ gift card to exist, a third party (in this case, Blackhawk Network) needs to be brought in to handle the gift card scheme. Manufacturing a gift card (and its packaging) and then having it shipped to a physical store is not cheap, then there are additional costs with running systems to allow you to exchange your gift card for a Disney+ account, having support staff around to handle any issues, etc etc etc. Having a gift card scheme (particularly a physical one) would probably be more expensive than just charging someone's debit/credit card every month/year.

Obviously, there are other streaming services that let you purchase a physical gift card to access their services (e.g. Netflix) and they usually do not charge extra for you using a gift card, particularly since third parties typically also handle physical gift card schemes (at least that is the case for physical Netflix gift cards, which are handled by InComm).

    • Damn. Forgot already a subscriber when got 3 months free Disney+ with my $99 Fetch Box

  • +1

Has anyone using the SB Supermarket card experienced these issues described by WookieMonster in another post?

You cannot redeem more than $400 from a single Activ Visa gift card at any supermarkets each day. For example, if I have a $500 Activ Visa gift card and go to one store and redeem $300 from it, if I go to a second store on the same day and attempt to redeem the remaining $200, the transaction will be declined with error code 12 (Invalid Transaction).

You may not be able to redeem more than one Activ Visa gift card within an approximately ten minute window at the same location. I have previously been able to redeem $200 and $50 Activ Visa gift cards at the same Coles store within seconds of each other, but I have not been able to redeem $200 and $250 Activ Visa gift cards at the same Coles store within seconds of each other.

    • +1

      This person said they did.

I also had someone else privately messaging me about this restriction earlier today, as they experienced it when trying to use 2x $300 Activ Supermarket Visa gift cards back-to-back at a supermarket.

    • ye did practice the 2nd point, had to wait (probably at least 10mins) for 2nd pay, funny but boring exp :)

yet to test: if pay 2nd at another POS with another active card on another phone, will that work straight away?

      • Unlikely.

During a 10% off Coles Mastercard gift card deal earlier this year, I paid for 1x $250 gift card using a Perfect eftpos gift card without any issues. I then went to a different self checkout and tried to purchase another 1x $250 gift card using an OnlyONE Visa gift card, but it was declined with error code 12 (Invalid Transaction), as the OnlyONE Visa gift card was being used only one minute after the Perfect eftpos gift card had been redeemed.

  • +1

I can confirm that you can do a split payment with the Shopback Supermarket Activ Visa Card, you just have to go through the Customer Service Desk. Or possibly a regular manned checkout, I just went through the checkout that is attached to the CS Desk.

I bought the $100 Coles MasterCard Gift Card and $50 worth of groceries and paid the $155 total with two Activ Visa Cards. Easy peasy. My local Coles knows me though so YMMV when it comes to checkout staff balking at the pop-up message about split payments when purchaing gift cards.

    • You can do split payments when purchasing a gift card at any standard checkout (not just the service desk). Just be mindful that some checkout staff may not have been taught how to do split payments… or may not let you do split payments at all (and I’ve had both happen to me at Coles).

      • I just always go through the checkout that is attached to the CS Desk because I know there is a Supervisor there and, well, I know most of the Supervisors at my local Coles.

I wish the update on flybuys points is instant like everyday rewards, always worried if I won't get the bonus points

      Or shows pending status.

  • Anyone know if the Special Super Shopper cards can still be used to buy SB cards?
Checked Special earlier and the super shopper card now states it can't be used in supermarkets anymore so wondering if one can still use them at SB.

    • +1

Tested and no, was able to buy a Special Super Shopper card with a coles MC, but it can't be linked to SB anymore, gave Unable to contact issuing bank or something to that extent.

  • Received my 10000 FB points

    • Ok, so its 5 x mastercards for 10k points. The T&Cs were "ifffy" and I read it as 2000 points per card type. Ie. to get 6000 pts you would need to buy a $100, $250 and Disneu card.

      3 × $100 card would only get you 2000pts.

But you can confirm you bought 5x$100 and got 10 000 pts

      • I've purchased 11 $100 mc's(several ppl in this house :-) since Wed and so far all of the ones purchased berfore today have tracked 2000 points each.
5 per accnt and all 5 can be $100 mc's

        • have tracked 2000 points each

Yep and then the next day redeem it $10 off my next ColesMC purchase. Pays for the $5 activation fee on the next one so I don't have too much leftover balance on my Activ Visa cards. Nice and neat.

          • @wavesgreen: Umm, FB dollars can't be used to buy these cards, I've tried.
Also these cards can't buy themselves.

            • +1

@HopSkipJumpFallSplat: I don't use FB dollars. $10 off redemption pops up every time I spend more than $10. I have done this every time I've bought a ColesMC during this promotion. Literally did it today.
