They’ve offered 100k points (25k X 4 months) twice this year. Unless you’re desperate for Virgin points, I’d hold off until they offer it again.

Good card though. $129 travel credit was easy enough to apply for and use.

I got mine under the offer back in April. Just finished my 4th month of $1500/month => 25k Velocity points/month, plus the 30k bonus Velocity point offer back then. Not including the 30k, was $6000 for 100k points vs $3000 for 60k points now.

    • This is my situation too. What’s your next step - churn or keep?

      • Haven't decided, as I have taken advantage of the travel credit yet…

        • You can cancel the card and keep the travel credit, just go to virgin money website and redeem and it will be in your virgin Australia travel bank within a coupe of days

    • How long did it take you to get the points for each month? Just got my card last month and should have met the minimum spend requirements.

      • +1

They are scraped to your Velocity account 2-3 days after your statement date each month.

when these companies getting rid of the annual fees!

Probably never now.. People used to be flush with money, now people are desperate for any credit they can get. Game has changed.

  • Anyone know how to link your cc to the velocity ff account?

Check the T&Cs carefully for bonus point spending exclusions.

I get the feeling they have pulled their head in and made it pretty similar to other cards, but a few years back it excluded a few basics such as rego, insurance, water rates and council rates (the later now being a common exclusion). They were very loose with "semi government". I had to get the Ombudsman involved to get my points.

Again, I think they realise the Ombudsman charges were racking up and it was easier to relax the t&cs.

“Similar to other cards” uhhh… don’t they pretty much all have these exclusions?

      • Not rego and insurance. Also they excluded water rates as semi gov. SA water is privately owned. AFCA agreed with me on that one and I got the points. But was a few week process to get points that auto landed with ANZ, Westpac, NAB, Qantas, St George, Kogan etc.

  • Are payments to
    Strata
    Council
    Utilities
    Insurance counted towards $1500 spend?

I was able to use DEFT to pay my rent on this card in January to get 100K bonus points (only cost $70 extra in fees). So if you can pay your bills using DEFT you should be able to.

  • Which app does one use?

I notice there is the Virgin Money Australia app, the Virgin Money Credit Card app, and the Virgin Money Mobile Banking app lol

@cpox10 This is what I use: Virgin Money Australia [https://apps.apple.com/au/app/virgin-money-australia/id1198060050]

About to cancel my card after receiving my bonus points and travel benefit to be ready to rinse & repeat when I qualify (I assume in 12 months?).

      • Thanks mate =)

  • Can velocity points be redeemed for retailer gift cards ? If so, how much $ equivalent to 60k points
Or can it be used for travel only ?

    • Yes
$350 Ultimate home gift cards = 67,000 points

  • Anyone know if you cancel the card mid-month if you still get the points already earned for that month?

    • You lose them, so wait for statement and for them to land in your velocity account.

    • Personally i wouldn't cancel a card until all the points have landed.

  • Got this on the last offer posted (100k points). Approved last Thursday night, card arrived Wednesday and activated. Annual fee charged same day as activation, and this morning I wake up to a statement. Be careful folk.

    • That happened with my last card, I still got the next 4 statement 25k points after that.

    • Terms states that they charge the annual fee immediately from activation/first transaction.

But yes, happened to me on my new card

  • Hi, understand that government charges are excluded from "eligible purchases". Just wondering if anyone tried paying government charges such as council rates using Sniip (or any other), and whether these would count as an eligible purchase?

    • If you pay via Sniip it will be fine I have done it 100 of times(well maybe not that much…)

    • I've found that paying council rates on my AMEX Explorer using PayPal on Australia Post Bill Pay will give me the normal 2 points instead of the 1 for government bodies. I wonder if I can do the same for this Virgin Money Card as it doesn't appear they can see that it's a government charge.

I'll meet the first month spending with clear eligible transactions for the first month but will also pay for my council rates with above method. I'll see in the first statement whether I get points for the council rates.

    • I usually pay with BPay via Zip (no fees) if that's an option.

  • Can the travel voucher be used on reward flights?

  • Anyone not received their points / bonus points for last month? Previous month was quick after statement was issued but nothing yet.

    • Not received points yet either.

    • does anyone know what their definition of "month" is? based on calendar month, a pre-fixed date, or the individual's activation date?

e.g. if I get approved on 27th of the month, does that mean my first month only goes from 27th to 31st?

    5,000 bonus virgin points:

Applied Sunday afternoon but didn't have time to upload documents. Got a call 24h later from Virgin Money offering me 5,000 virgin points bonus if i supply documents within 24h - deposited in 3 months time and there's a case note on the file to dispute it if not paid. Just a tip if you apply, hold off on documents for 24 hours IMO - they are desperate

    • Thanks, I tried this today and it worked.

    • Got the same thing too, applied at work and was going to upload documents once I got home. They called me within the hour to give that same offer.

When do bonus points come through?

  • This offer has now been extended to 10 Jan 2024
