  • Is it possible to order and send to other? Or it needs my ID and address? Colleague is asking help to purchase one for him given he doesn't have telstra account.

    • +1

      It's locked to your id

    • +1

The receipt would be in your name.
Just get the cheapest Sim as recommended or price match

      • Price match on OOS items may not happen..

        • ah true, you'd have to wait for more stock.

Can't dick around with deals like this.

  • I am trying to order, the ID and address verifies fine and then when I click next I get "something went wrong. We're unable to process your order at this time". Have tried different browsers, devices etc.

    Anyone else seen this??

    • Try in person may have more luck. But stock is limited I just tried three stores and only had two left in store.

      • +1

Was able to order in the end by installing the app on my phone

        • +1

Glad to hear hope you get it soon

  • Im assuming these are unlocked already?

  • If you are not home when they attempt to deliver, where will the phone be taken?

    • +1

      Post office.

  • Yesterday evening stock was there in Telstra Narellan store, all three colour available in 128 GB

  • Any one tried calling a Telstra store? I just end up on voicemail for every store I try

Edit: Finally got through, no stock found so far

  • Just triple checking, if you buy the P7 for other people, say your parents, it's not tied to your Telstra account is it?

    • It is not

      • Great. Thanks mate. Just got 2.

  • How do you get a Telstra ID?

    • Get a $2 sim from Woolies or Coles and get a pre paid service setup.

      • Or go in person to a Telstra store with stock, no need to get a SIM just did it myself. They create a Telstra I'd on the Spot.

      • Cheers, had tried that but it would not let me proceed. Went in store and their internal site showed pre-paid was not accepted and wouldn't do the deal. Ended up buying it through a family members account.

  • Another dumb question. Do you have to have an active service or just a Telstra ID? I've got a pre paid service but no credit, needs recharging.

I've ordered the phones ok but will Telstra check my service details?

    • If you've already ordered the phone, then you're all good :)

  • +1

Don’t worry about Telstra, OW, JB. Just went Optus store and I got one match straight away. Easier. This Telstra ID is a joke

  • +1

Isn't Samsung S23 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 a much better option if it an be purchased at a discounted price as posted in this forum

    • +1

It is, but a Pixel 7 at half price is where majority of ppl are buying this for

I went through lots of hoops to get a Samsung S23 Ultra for below <$1k via the recent JB x Telstra deal

      • +1

        Samsung Galaxy S23 128GB + Galaxy Watch5 $749 + $49
Agree need to jump through multiple hoops but not a huge price difference if you use or sell the Galaxy Watch

        • Still available?

    • +4

Depends what you want, some people hate Samsung OneUI and prefer a cleaner OS.

Pixel 7 camera is ranked #14 according to dxomark while S23 is #28.

      https://www.dxomark.com/smartphones/

      • +1

Yeah no bloatware and faster updates is the appeal for pixels, plus of course the camera. I rarely even consider anything else.

      • -3

Samsung OS is amazing and base S23 has telephoto lense.
Superior hardware and software on the Samsung compared to Google P7 which only has its software to support it.

        • Let me know what people dislike about Samsing One UI.

If you haven't used it, do not comment.

  • Optus are price matching, don’t need to be an existing customer. All done within 10 mins

    • They wanted to recontract me (on a cheaper plan with much less data), wouldn't let me do it outright…

      • +1

No contract nothing pure price match for me at Optus store.

        • Same here, never been an Optus customer, not asked to sign up. Just paid the 499.50 and left.

          • @ozrex: Which store? What state? I'm in SA and apparently there aren't any left 256 GB in stock. They're happy to order one in, but making me jump through hoops and won't sell it outright

      • +2

you should show them their own price match policy -

The way it works is simple. If you see a better priced 5G phone, just tell us. We’ll match any competitor’s genuine retail price on the same 5G mobile phone provided it is in-stock and the price is not tied to any lock-in offers. The 5G Phone Price Match discount is available with outright purchases or can be split on a device payment plan over 12, 24 or 36 months.

        https://www.optus.com.au/mobile/phones/5g-mobile

    • Some Optus stores don't. They say they only match price if I'm a current customer with Optus and wanted to port my number over. I said no thanks.

      • I guess best to call and check before going to the store

      • same with the melbourne-box hill one. Forest hill rejected a price match

    • In store or over the phone?

      • +1

        in store. purchased outright

    • Which Optus store?

    • +1

Got it for 5% cheaper at OW

  • what does "Snow variant - OOS: mean?

    • Out of stock it stands for

    • +4

      You know nothing Snow Variant.

  • +1

If you really want this and missed out online try your local stores I picked mine today last one left. You may get lucky and didn't need to buy any extra Sims or plans just created a telstra id on the spot and done

  • For everyone trying to get one, I got 2 today. 1 at Optus Airport West (256GB), and 1 at Telstra Airport West (128GB). No dramas.

    • Are you optus customer?

  • trying to buy one online - already have an existing Telstra ID and active service, yet they STILL need my driver's license to verify me…..wtf? it's like they dont want me to sell the fone in the future and just tie it to my name……

I wonder how many of these will be on fleabay soon

  • Sigh, just discovered the wife's s21 Ultra screen is cracked, thought it was only the protector but didn't have a chance to change it until today…🤦

Looks like there is not much stock about for a cheap(ish) replacement…

  • +1

+1 for doing it in-store. They just ask for your ID. Don't need an active service.

    • +3

This qu has been asked and answered in this thread repeatedly :)

  • Any Idea if any of the Telstra stores in Adelaide still have 256GB? Online shows OOs and not accepting back orders.

    • You'll need to call the stores to confirm. Best of luck with finding one

  • Awesome deal .
Walked into a Telstra store and gave them my number . My boost account came up so he just used that .
Too easy . Quite a different experience to Telstra phone support I've had to endure over the years .
No choice of colour apart from black but it was in stock , so I got to walk out with it .

  • what Gb?

    • +7

      Yes.

  • +1

Google Anniversary sale seems like it’ll only be 25% off - surely this deal here is the best deal going round?

  • Welp, my pixel 3 has decided to cark itself this weekend. Is the play to ring up a bunch of Optus stores to price match and buy outright in person, then hit up a Telstra store to grab a Telstra ID on the spot if Optus doesn't work out?

If I'm going through a Telstra store, what's the requirement for getting an ID: just an activated $2 SIM or equivalent?

    • No need for Sim as mentioned earlier. Ask store to buy the phone outright they grab it and help set a Telstra Id for you easy as that

      • Oh that's pretty convenient, sweet. This is assuming the store in question has stock though yeah? I'm wondering what the situation is if the store doesn't have stock and you try to place an order for delivery, since the website says it's on backorder and the stock checker doesn't load for me

        • Good question, honestly not sure about the back order one. I'd give a few calls around the stores and see how you go. Some people have been lucky with Optus price matching also in store may just be a luck thing.

  • +1

Looks like a good deal. Not compelling enough to upgrade from s21 5g though. Anyone else in same boat?

    • +1

Yes, other than reducing battery capacity, my s21 5G is working fine. I still get a day out of it though.

  • +1

Bought one, without thinking first. I am thinking to keep my s21 5G for little longer. Can I refuse delivery or take it to Telstra store for refund?

    • +3

Just keep for a few days and see what this hoo har about the deal from Google is about. People seem to think it will be cheaper than $500 but doubt it.

Sounds like your current phone is fine and got ozbargained into an upgrade. Guess you could wait for the pixel 8

      • I guess so many upvotes as the purchase is straight forward and takes a couple of minutes the most and you get a good phone for $500 unlike the recent Samsung S23 and Galaxy Watch 5 deal.

    • Hows your battery holding up on your s21? I have an s21 as well, but the battery is starting to show its age (2.5 years old)

      • It's about 60 % capacity compared to new one. I now have to remember to plug it in whenever it goes less than 50 %.

    • Can anyone confirm what the actual return policy is for return of an outright phone from Telstra?

      • +1

Sell it on ozbargain. There are many who missed out

        • That's what I am going to do. Pass it to a fellow ozbargainer who missed out.

      • Refuse the delivery if you want to return. Telstra will not accept change of mind returns. It will return only if defective or not as per order specification.

  • -4

When's the deadline for this deal? I need a new phone, I also have bills…

    • Offer ends 7 August 2023

    • +7

      Should have gone to specsavers

      • -5

        Lazy….

  • lol, still cant purchase one….

  • Anyone priced matched with OfficeWorks

    • judging by most comments around that in this thread, it seems very unlikely

  • Bought one to replace my dying LG V7.

  • Price matched with Optus online. 256GB Obsidian is available. No need for an Optus account but like what another member mentioned, you need to pay the full amount and the difference will be credited to the same card used for the purchase which the agent said may take 15 days.

    • I just tried that and they said they cannot price match the 256gb as it's not in stock at Telstra :(

    • Was it in stock today?

      • My online order with Optus went through (at around 2pm AEST). The Optus page for Pixel 7 also seems to suggest that it is currently in stock.

    • +1

I tried yesterday with Optus online and got rejected as Telstra stock on backorder

      • I successfully ordered today even if it's OOS with Optus chat

        • +1

I have tried twice, tried again today using chat via my Optus account. Everyone seems to have different experiences…

They actually agreed until I asked them how to pay and then then withdrew the offer saying Telstra on backorder

        • I also tried two times but no luck.

  • I have a feeling Pro model will be like $799 on Google anniversary sale.

    • +1

If this turns out to be true, can we get another 10% off on top of it using Unidays discount and another 10% back in Google credit by signing up to Google One plan?

  • +1

Can we use dual WhatsApp, Facebook and messenger on pixel 7?
