My review for this item:

Compact yet solid build; Easy to use

The GaN charger makes the unit more compact than regular chargers, and you can charge multiple devices with this instead of bringing individual adapters on your holiday. Make sure you have compatible cables that support the power required for your device.

What I really liked most about this product is that the Australia pins can be rotated in two ways such that you can position the unit in either direction (see photos 8, 9, 10). Photo 11 shows that the included spare second fuse is easy to swap out using just a flat head screwdriver. Photo 12 shows highest-speed charging possible on my Pixel 6 (2130mA).

My Google Photos album of product: https://photos.app.goo.gl/UnvrVUdKd6SrW58BA

If you want compatible cables that are somewhat future-proof, I've also bought these USB4 cables that support 240W charging.

Sweet, picked up two - mine just broke

    • Whats the difference between a GaN and a Non GaN charger…

      • +1

        size and performance

      • GaN charger is smaller

    • +5

Yes it says so in the title, you don't need to keep posting this comment on every GaN charger deal.

  • +1

I have this works well and even has a built in fuse.

  • +3

Coincidentally, I was reading about this charger on another forum yesterday. https://forum.thesizzle.com.au/t/aliexpress-good-stuff-threa…

Only a few bucks cheaper on AliExpress so this is a good price for a speedy delivery!

    • +1

Why would you pay for that when you have free OzB

Cheers. Been eyeing something like this for my own upcoming Japan trip so I can charge my laptop with its AU plug. And charge my powerbanks/phones via USB of course. Very nice price.

    • +3

This - AU Cord with any earthing will be hard to connect without something like this

Had to use a JPN type to figure 8 cable straight into a MacBook brick as all the converters didn't have a earth connection

      • I figured I'd be able to find one of those cheaply enough whilst there but just in case I figure this'll do the trick. Not sure I've even ever seen a power socket in Japan with the earth connection. Same in the US. Maybe once.

    • +1

Make sure you’re not plugging in other appliances to the port. Laptop converters can use 110V but most other things can’t, these aren’t transformers.

Grabbed one for upcoming Europe holiday cheers

      50% on 45W still available, don't hesitate https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BNNRX22D

      • Looking for the 65W for charging my laptop, I'll wait for the next sale (hopefully)

      • I bought the 45W version a few days ago mainly because of the 10A fuse to allow for a 2kW hair dryer. Will be carrying a separate 100W laptop charger to get stable output current, be careful charging expensive items using cheap unstable circuitry.

        • this 65w have fuse too ?

will it wreck electronics or burn house

  • +7

Grabbed one because everyone else is.

    • worst case we can start class action lawsuit ..

  • +1

i dont have the tickbox for the 50% off, am i missing something

  • +2

It's appearing as $79.99 for me and no checkbox for further discount.

  • +1

    Checkbox for discount is missing

  • There's also this smaller, much more basic one (1x usba, 1x USB C) for people who only have a phone and basic devices.

I intially bought this before this GaN charger, it doesn't even charge my Pixel 6 since the USB output is a mere trickle :(

      • Good to know, I'm not used to the 110v static electricity recepticle.

Just be aware that these don't have a connected earth pin so you won't have any safety protection from an RCD.

    • That is a very good point, thank you!

    • smash or pass?

      • +2

It really depends on the devices you'll be plugging in to the mains socket on it. If your device doesn't need an earth pin, it'd be fine to use. I wouldn't use devices like an iron or kettle like their photo shows though.

        • kettle

          damn, whabbout a printer?

          • @capslock janitor: If your printer doesn't use an earth pin, it'll be ok. Printers usually have non-fixed leads though, it'd make more sense to just replace the lead?

  • Got thanks op

  • +5

How well does this stay connected to a plug point in the wall? I've had a similar adaptor before, and when it's plugged into the wall it's always on the verge of falling out.

    • +1

You’ll have the same experience. Here the switches are under the charger block which pushes them out slightly. Also the weight is an issue.

    • Same experiences… it always feels bit of an electrical hazard since the socket is exposed

    • +2

Seems like a design flaw of some overseas powerpoints. This thing is pretty heavy and chunky - would work fine for an Aussie powerpoint, but the two round European prongs do feel like they don't offer much in the way of stability.

    • I have the same concern with the weight; perhaps this one a better option? although might need to bring 'international converter' ourselves

  • +6

Can find these on Aliexpress Super deals section for around $17-22 on a regular basis. I bought 2 of these and they work well. Can charge laptop without problems.

    • Is it the same brand? Or are they just rebranded stuff and exactly the same whichever the brand is?

      • It is the same brand.

    • +7

Great tip! Just grabbed one of the 65W delivered for $33 Here

        Cheers,
Created a new account and even managed to score it for $15.28 + tax ($17.57) delivered.

    • Imagine the mark ups on products like this…

  • thanks OP…got the 45w one…

  • Damn! Been eyeing these off over the past week

  • Anyone tried this brand out?

I’ve seen some nice products but they don’t seem to have much in terms of reviews.

  • Ordered through AliExpress. Thanks

  • +1

The cheapest one is still 50% off, the higher watt one was 25% off, better than nothing, good enough for me. That should be plenty of USB ports to charge from and a 61W laptop charger - good enough.

  • +1

No indepth reviews of the exact name but it does seem to closely, if not exactly match this model. https://youtu.be/YHpab3k7Zvg https://youtu.be/5A7xbuiyqZo Any thoughts?

  • +1

Thanks OP! I have been looking for GAN + USB-C PD travel charger for ages, and awesome review which helps

  • +1

Forgive my ignorance but the 10A fuse that the 65W/45W uses, if I need to get another replacement that isn't provided, what do I google search for? Is it called a "Cartridge fuse"?

  • Note: does not convert voltage

    • how do convert voltage?

      what model converts ?

      • from what I understand these travel adapters never convert voltage , as you need a bigger device

  • Can it super fast charge samsung phones?

    • +1

Yes it can. I didn't even know my phone was capable of super fast charging until I saw it appear on screen when I plugged it into this charger.

      • Thanks!

  • only see 25% coupon now ?

    Total: $79.99
    Promotion(s) Applied: -$20.00

Just used this while traveling overseas for a fair while - worked flawlessly. It does get quite warm when under strong load (and by strong load, I mean charging 5 devices at once), but performed very well. All my friends ended up borrowing it to charge their phones and laptops too, as it had so many ports and charged super quickly. Build quality feels nice as well, which I didn't expect.

  • Is this one ok? With 50% off, it works out to be $16 something

this does not look like the GaN model

  • +1

With this kind of adapter, would there be any risk with fire? AFAIK electrical device to have CE (or something similar) mark to be sold in AU?
Keen to order this, but if it could burst in fire when you are sleeping, perhaps not worth my time

    Thanks everyone!

Update: seems the other type of Lencent GaN adapter has more approvals (ROHS, CE, etc)

  • +1

I ordered this 65W on AliExpress for $27 instead https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005688036457.html?spm=a2…
    Same brand, less ports.

They also have the 100W one for $64.99 - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005633528711.html?spm=a2…

  • If I buy a USB-C to MagSafe 2 cable, will this charge my wife's 2017 MacBook Air without damaging the laptop?
It would be nice if she could leave the bulky laptop charger that came with the laptop at home and just use this.
    Thanks

BTW, I saw a (Australia Stock) USB-C to MagSafe 2 cable on eBay for around $18. Are there cheaper options?

  • Ordered the white one and dimensions are too WIDE for my single socket wall plate …
    :(
Won't go flush cos one side is pressing on top of the wall switch.

    • Swap the socket over, go to bunnings and buy a double gpo, turn the power off at the main switch, and swap it. happy to talk you through it if you like

    • You could plug in a double adaptor to raise it a bit.

    • +1

      both model "636DV

      • Oh yeah.. didn't even look at that, duh!

Thanks! Ended up buying the AliExpress one for like $18.. going overseas in about 3 weeks and estimated delivery is literally a few days before I fly so hopefully comes in time.
