Waiting for someone to come on here after their order is cancelled, and insist that it's their god-given right to receive the product at the advertised price and that they're going to the ACCC to complain.

    • quite popular store in Victoria from Google reviews. Just a price error, shouldn't be a personal info collecting scheme.

    • Far out. it’s getting close to dictatorship in VIC.

      • +5

Yes and no. It's a bit of a storm in a teacup IMO. it's for NEW houses not existing, so they aren't ripping away people's existing gas appliances. Plus, IMO it doesn't make sense to install gas in 2023. The cost of gas is far to great, the environmental impact too, plus personally I'm not too keen on having gas stoves emitting fumes inside my house.

Induction stoves are far more efficient, easier to clean and look nicer I feel. I have a separate wok burner to a 9kg gas bottle outside.

Electricity is offset by my solar, so my energy costs are very reasonable. Previously paying gas bills was getting horrendous. RCAC is also much more energy efficient than gas ducted heating.

If people want to continue using gas voluntarily, good luck to them, but it's going to cost them.

          • +1

@shegeloaf: I wholeheartedly disagree. Inductions stoves can provide much more precise temperature control - can go far hotter than gas and also simmer much lower than gas. I can safely leave something simmering without it boiling over. You might be confusing induction with ceramic electric - the latter being harder to control temperature.

Electric ovens in my experience provide much finer temperature control too.

There's no way I'd ever go back to gas. Even cleaning an induction is so much easier, I used to hate cleaning the grates on gas stoves!

            • @placard:

Inductions stoves can provide much more precise temperature control

But are crap for wok cooking.

          • @shegeloaf: Clearly never used a modern induction cooktop! It's as @placard said. My current gas cooktop isn't that good at stirfrying and is useless at simmering.

            • @FTTNope:

. My current gas cooktop isn't that good at stirfrying and is useless at simmering.

You need a Miele gas cooktop then…

              • @jv: I don't rate Miele. Their entry stuff feels cheap despite not being that cheap and there's better value in the mid/upper range.

                • @FTTNope:

                  I don't rate Miele.

I've owned one for 20 years and it's still going strong…

        • it's for NEW houses not existing

          UNTRUE

It applies to anything that requires a building permit.
eg. renovations at you existing home.

      • +1

vic resident here: no it's not, relax

        • IBAC disagrees with you…

    • +2

do you not currently have gas connected to the home? kinda rare in Victoria.

      • Lots of small towns in rural victoria dont. Full electric in my house bottled gas is common.

        • bottled gas (though cumbersome) is a really good option imo. rLPG is only a few years away yet.

          • +1

@ExtraSalt: Yep I've just replaced my reticulated gas with 9kg bottles. I only use the cooktop now. I'm not going to be paying $1.20 per day in supply charges now.

            • @stumo: Mate, we are looking to switch from electric to gas cooktop. We don't want to use gas for heating. Just for cooking.
Will it be cheaper to just do what you're doing? If so, what is the process? What does it look like? What do I need to buy and how often for a household of 4?

              • +1

@lordra: If you already have retic gas cooktop, you just need to re-jet it for LPG and get gas bottles hooked up to the existing gas line outside, instead of the retic. But if you currently have electric then you have to get it all installed which could be expensive.

We have a family of 5 and only use gas for the cooktop. We use about $3 worth of retic gas per 2 months, but that was costing us $53 due to the daily supply charge. And that supply charge was about to go up by over 50%.

So now we use 2x 9kg swappa bottles. A single bottle will last 5 months and cost $20-$30 to swap/refill. As opposed to well over $200 for 5 months worth of retic gas.

                • @stumo: We have the same setup. It came with our house (Brisbane). Works fantastic for us.
When one runs out we just pop down to the servo that is 2 min away and swap it.
Also means we have a backup bottle for the Weber too.

            • @stumo:

I'm not going to be paying $1.20 per day in supply charges

              Ummm…. 79 cents per day…

    Look at this broden

    https://imgur.com/a/h2YEouI

You know who you are, reading this right now

    • What website is that?

      • Facebook Marketplace

    • +8

"selling 20 units, $1.5k ea, bought recently"

haha! Amazing how greed can make people blindly optimistic. This is how a lot of scams work: too good to be true, but people want to believe in easy money.

      • So u don’t even have to buy it? And pretend selling it, since nobody would have it delivered yet

Edit or did he buy a while ago

        • +1

Highly likely a broden as it was listed after this deal went up.

      • -1

Would be an easy 30k if it actually worked out 😆

        • Depending on the ethics, to someone it would be even easier to rob a store…

    • JASON THIEU?! 😅

Edit: wonder if they will get their $150 back when they're cancelled.

      • +5

I don't think brodens have morals

        • B1 and B2.. not sure which one is smarter.

      • They'd better dont get the deposit back and learn from this otherwise stupid like this will get scam harder than this,by the way really have people this stupid just pay the deposit to this thieu guy when he stated he bought 20 items that coming with cheaper price but don't even have pics…

  • Nice, ordered one. Now let's see how we go in the morning

  • +2

can I have this deal for ovens? lol
