          • @SolitaryMan: Stalking/trolling is not my thing. You just don't bring a valid reason for some of the negs and replies you leave.

  • I think a 4070Ti 16GB would be good for $999
    (and in MSI)..

    • +1

      we're not even seeing a 12GB 4070ti for $999 :(

    • +1

I had my MSI for the past two months got it for $1100 last eBay CA deal and sold the code for $60 so almost $999

  • At this point ima die with my 1070

    • 6700XT maybe a good replacement

    • Same. Been looking for an AM5 7900 XTX build. But the prices are crazy atm. Will wait until some good deals come through.

      • Sorta same, sitting on 5800x3d but desperate desire to beef up my system with a a new gpu.
It's mostly a matter of principle in not paying exorbitant prices for a a gpu

        • I did a 1070ti to 6700XT @ 1440p its definitely worth it!, for $450 just do it!

    • +1

this, but rx570 4g. The older i get the better at waiting.
At these prices 6mo ago i would have bought, but now i may as well wait to see how the 7700/7800 series turn out next month.

    • +1

A fellow 1070 holder - glad I'm not the only one

  • Can someone in true ozbargain fashion tell me why I shouldn't buy this? I have a 1080 and pretty ready to move

    • +3

thats basically what nvidia has been targeting, getting people on 10 series off it. Its just not a good value right now. However if games aren't running as well as you want them too then you should totally get it. But if they are running fine just cruise for a bit, there'll always be better stuff and when the AI craise dies, nividia will have to come back to us

      • +1

Interesting. Games are running OK but not great, and I'm running two 1440p monitors which wouldnt help. Haha, last it was the mining craze, now AI craze, I hazard to guess what the next one will be

        • yuuuup feel your pain, im running a vega 64 and ive been thinking about upgrading for a while and funnily I got two 1440p monitors
the way I see it rn unless my gpu dies or a game that im super invested in cant run it, ima just wait until a sick deal or buy used and just see what happens for the next yr
im pretty sure battlemage and amd rx 8000 series are both rumered to come out then and possible rtx 5000 series early 2025 soooo things could happen

          • @Disum: I got 2x Dell S3220DGF (1440p 165Hz) which are great for games, graphics, productivity but couldn't look at the bezel in the middle to use both for gaming. Bit of a shame as Forza would rock!

Guess one day wouldn't mind one ultrawide but would be $$ for a similar size.

      • +2

AI craze is just starting… you remind of Bill Gates what he said about the interenet.

    • No reason.
The best new games oare remakes of decade old games.

    • 6700XT $440.1 is batter value

    • +4

As someone who just upgraded from a 1080 to a 6800 I can tell you it was kind of meh. The 1080 played all the games pretty well on medium, now I can crank settings to ultra and wonder if I can really tell the difference. Honestly I was kind of disappointed, I upgraded because I thought I needed to but in reality I could of probably dragged the 1080 through another year and waited for the next generation. 1080 is a good card. Really think about what you play and decide for yourself.

      • They used to say NVIDIA was always better for compatibility, I'd probably stick with those.

I tend to agree. None of these prices make you want to upgrade quickly, my 2060s still does the job but don't game that much (maybe Forza Horizon 5 with tweaked gfx settings and get about 100-130 fps @ 1440). It does a great job on CAD and modelling too but will need more tax deductions next year so hopefully the deals get better.

      • +1

I went from a RX470 4GB to a RX6800 16gb and i play all the same game.. nothing has changed for me.. i still get over 60FPS.. thats all i want and both old and new card gave me that

The tech inflation is largely due to Apple's influence since 2010, the consistent high prices their products demand and NPCs buying them. Without Apple, a 4090 could likely cost around $1500.

  • Still no 6800XT deals?

    • Looks like all the good deals on 6800 and 6800XT cards are SOLD OUT .. going for $500 used :) or $800-$850 new

  • If this thing is the real 4080, then wouldn't the 4050 be a literal POS?

    • +1

      4090 = real 4080 Ti
      4080 = real 4070
      4070 Ti = real 4060 Ti
      4070 = real 4060
      4060 Ti = real 4050 Ti
      4060 = real 4050

Everyone knows there are slots waiting to be filled for a "4090 Titan" (real 4090) and "4080 Ti" (real 4080)

And then realise the best of RDNA 3 - the 7900 XTX - only matches the real 4070

AMD is so far behind NV that they are already leaking that high end GPU's will not be developed for RDNA 4 because a 8950 XXTXX would not even match a 5070 Ti

If this thing is the real 4080, then wouldn't the 4050 be a literal POS?

      Yes

Do not put it past NV to package the RTX 4050 Mobile into a desktop GPU and sell it as the "4050 Ti"

  • 4090 was cheaper before https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/766902 but not many good deals since.

    • what would you say would be a good price to buy the 4090? 2300-2400 AUD range?

      • This is a decent price for a 4090 board.. ML, data science, deep learning is just too hot and the 4090 is the perfect point of entry for it .. Till NVIDIA has the CUDA monopoly they can and will charge whatever they want and unfortunately most will happily pay. I am not into gaming but I have no idea why gamers dig NVIDIA when AMD is so much more affordable at not much of a loss in performance if you take CUDA out of the equation but if you want to play games on a 4090 you will need to pay a premium .. I paid 2700 2 months back ..might go down to 2500

    • +2

nah this one after 10% off is like $2429

      • True, it's a good deal.

  • +1

Its a good price but dont recommend Centrecom, support is horrible, staff are rude, they'll try anything to get out of a warranty claim

If you can manage to get this at another tech shop I highly recommend that

    • +1

I second that, they will do anything to dodge a warranty claim.

  • I recognise and appreciate the sentiment about misleading product model numbering in 40x0 generation

but overall there's no card that is worth buying for 4k, the only decent one is 4080 and it's severely overpriced

4070 Ti might be considered but it needs to be this price. overall I think 40x0 gen is cooked, and I am staying on 3070. will wait for 50x0 I guess and hope there are some options that make sense, or at least 4070 Ti will be priced to clear. 4080 will likely be pulled off the shelves when 50x0 approaches

  • +3

Have they jacked the price on the 4070 to make the discount look better? I swear I saw it for 888.5 last night with an 88.5 discount with the code.

    • +1

Yea prices are now jacked up

  • 6700xt now says $519 making it $467 ?

Was the deal for a few hours only ?

    • -1

Don't waste your money. Just pay a bit extra and get a 4070

      6700xt is end of life

      • +3

I don't know much about Nvidia but all 4070 results are $800 and up. So by a bit more you mean double the price ? ? ?

  • +2

Cheaper prices are over. They've price jacked cheaper cards.

    • +3

Yeah some prices have changed over night. A list of RTX 4070s I was watching:

      Item 11/08/23 12/08/23
PNY GeForce RTX 4070 12GB VERTO Dual Fan Graphics Card $885 $899
      PNY GeForce RTX 4070 12GB XLR8 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X RGB Triple Fan $949 $999
      Asus Dual GeForce RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6X Graphics Card $949 $949
      MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X 12G OC Graphics Card $949 $949
Asus Dual GeForce RTX 4070 OC Edition 12GB GDDR6X Graphics Card $959 $999
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE OC 12G Graphics Card $999 $999
Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6X OC Edition Graphics Card (Pre-Order) $1149 $1149
      MSI GeForce RTX 4070 GAMING X TRIO 12GB GDDR6X Graphics Card $1149 $1149

  • Wonder why their losing out on $200+ dollars, unless someone knows why.

    Is it tax clearance stock.

    • No one is buying it at current prices

      • So your saying their business is doomed

        • Most of NVidia profits are not from consumer GPUs.

          • @Hydralyte: Then their liquidating stock due to tax, encouraging a sale so they can replenish their stocks after October due to tax season.

Makes sense as consumers wouldn't be the target audience.

  • Just got a brand new 3070ti for $503 and am pretty happy with that given the pricing that seems to be coming with 40 series.

    • That’s a good price

  • Price has changed.

    $809.10 Now before surcharge

  • +1

Why would you price jack for $20 - $30 more ?

My thinking is you would lose more customers than you gain. Then again I'm assuming other people think like me. I was ready to buy this morning, while $30 more isn't a big thing , price jacking overnight is to me. So now = no sale.

I'm organising my purchase around Starfield. $470 for the card with free Starfield OR an XboxX copy of Starfield or whatever the equivalent works out in gamepass (versus copy of the game on it own)

    • So what will you buy now?

      • I have no god damn idea………..

  • Yep they jacked up the prices overnight the title is no longer accurate

  • There seem to be a lot of votes for this deal, but nobody is buying the 4070.

    • The price/performance ratio is just ridiculous. $1000 for a 4070 is just not worth it. Better off getting a used 3080 for like $500-$600

      • yup. 4070 Ti needs to be this price then it's worth considering, even though it's a bit weird offering looking at VRAM bus width.

        • Yeah or 4090.

          • @G-rig: wishful thinking but unlikely! also, not everyone will have a PSU to run a 4090, or will actually be able to fit one in the case. I haven't seen a model that would fit in mine lol running a 10L rig and like to keep it that way

            • @shabaka: Ah true, I reckon 4070ti would be the sweet spot, and got a good 850w PS so it should be plenty for most stuff but not about to upgrade that or the case (Meshify C, 315mm max GPU). It looks like those trio style cards are a bit long but some 3 fan may fit).

              • @G-rig: yes depends on the case. mine goes well with anything up to 320mm long, 60mm wide, 140mm tall, even though I had tp some creative cable management with current 2-cooler card that is like 130+mm but cables pressed against case coolers

  • Ended up doing Xbox Live Gold conversion to Game Pass Ultimate. Game pass until January 2025, works out about $8 a month. I really wanted to play Stalker 2 on PC but I will need a new GPU for that. So unless something comes up dirt cheap I will just rely on Xbox SX for now.
