15% off Sale (Pay with Qantas Points) + Free Delivery on Most Items @ Qantas Marketplace

I can't see myself ever flying Qantas again so I thought I'd burn my FF points. Quite happy to discover they have a 15% off sale on their FF marketplace. I was able to get some Apple gear without having to pay cashee money.

      Good deal for certain products

      Such as?

    • +2

Please tell us which deals on their site are a "good deal"? I am not seeing any.
Far better to use points for flights.

    • +2

I just tried with a macbook out of interest setting the points to the lowest non-zero number it let me with the rest in cash. The discount it displayed for the cash component was only around 2.5% of value.

  • +2

If you want to spend points on something you will actually use and not be ripped off, just redeem them for Woolworths vouchers. Qantas Marketplace and Qantas Travel prices (Hotels etc) are way above what you will find using actual $ on other websites

    • +1

Flights are way better value, not even debatable

      • +3

Sure, but the OP said he didn't want to fly Qantas, so probably isn't interested in redeeming for flights!

  • This discount stacks too - I bought something this morning that was discounted, then there was another 15% off on top. Even though it's not the best ROI for points if you want to burn some this way at least you're maximising value.

  • Qantas Hotels is running 25% less points which ends tonight. I used 300k points for a hotel stay worth almost $4k. Thought this is a pretty decent deal considering that it's extremely difficult to find good reward flights to popular destinations. And it's not like I'm looking forward to fly with Qantas again so I'm happy to just burn the points for a really nice hotel stay instead of a business class flight.

Qantas quality has really gone down the drain in the last few years. I'll be cancelling my Qantas frequent flyer card and replacing it with an Amex card when they run a decent bonus points promo. I know the points exchange won't be as good as Qantas FF but I think it's worthwhile just for the flexibility to fly other airlines and lounge access without having to fly Qantas.

    • 1.3c is solid value

    Qantas - disgrace of Australia

    • I can say the same for other big names in Australia too (Jetstar, Virgin, etc). We need more competitions

      • +6

Meanwhile the government rejects Qatar to have more flights to “protect local jobs”.
Well at least Virgin etc. did not waste taxpayer money.

        • +5

Qantas told the government to reject Qatar. A couple weeks later Qantas is promoting the government's campaign on their airplanes. Coincidence?

All politicians get Chairmans Lounge privileges from Qantas, in return Qantas get sweet deals from both sides of politics.

          • @CheapBrah: Such a rort that this is continuing.

            How do we stop it?

            • +1

@movieman: Qantas also decided to give Albo’s kid a Chairman’s Lounge membership at the same time as the Qatar decision.

The CL is the biggest rort out there, but good luck stopping it when both sides of politics benefit from it.

      • But none of those calls themselves "Spirit of Australia"

Seems like half the people here do not realise they can book flights not on Qantas with Qantas frequent flyer points. Ah well, more reward flight availability for the rest of us.

    • +1

      My thoughts exactly. Lol

Just got back from a return trip to Colombia for 4 people booked with Qantas points but flying LATAM. Even though only economy the points per $ rate was far better than anything else I've used points for previously

I know I can book Oneworld Alliance flights with QFF points but I've decided I don't want to.I do not want to contribute to Qantas profits in any way. What I'll be doing henceforth is flying Singapore Airlines internationally and collecting KrisFlyer points.I love SA, as does everyone who has ever flown them. I can transfer my Amex points to KrisFlyer and I'll probably open an HSBC Star Alliance CC as my Australian visa card. I'll fly Virgin or Rex domestically.

      • Singapore are good but it is harder to earn a meaningful amount of points with them living in Australia (other than by flying) compared to Qantas

      • +1

Its probably worth transferring all of your points to Krisflyer before 4th October when they change the conversion 2:1 to 3:1.
Main issue I have with Krisflyer is the 3 year points expiry (no matter how much you keep using points).

      • +3

You realise you’re contributing more to Qantas profits by making a lower value redemption through the marketplace right?

  • Award flight availability to say Tokyo from Brisbane is non existent especially in business. Award flight to Nadi is available via Melbourne and then Sydney. Economy only. Absolute rubbish.

  • +2

    Free delivery on most items.

Except ones I'm interested in apparently

  • Aren't you better off selling the points?

Spending them online seems like really bad value.

    • Selling them is against the rules and people have had their accounts shut down and points cancelled.

  • Irrespective of your views on politics, this doesn't seem to be a bargain.

Does anyone want to shout me some plane tix using their points? I'll take the hit on their morals for them.

Boycott Qantas because they mandated COVID jabs and pushing woke Voice garbage. They should stick to aviation not politics

    • +2

Boycott them for having appalling customer service and price gouging despite hundreds of millions in handouts.

Literally couldn’t care less about the voice or the jab, I’m pissed at how crappy their service has become despite charging extortionate rates.

  • Boycotted Qantas by buying a M1 MacBook Air from Apple store online using Education discount + HCF 5% discounted gift cards. Worked out to 15% off in total. Knowing my track record I'll probably return it to Apple in 14 days too. Ha.
