Drinkmate OmniFizz $93.49 (Was $109.99) + $20-$25 Delivery @ Drinkmate / $93 + Delivery Only @ Harvey Norman

50

First post! I've been waiting for this to go on sale. Not as good as previous sales though, which have been for 20% off.

Delivery to Melbourne is $20, and I think it's the same for all the capital cities.

Note that you can actually purchase the white or black version on Amazon AU for $109.99 with free delivery. The other colours are from international sellers and the CO2 cylinders we can buy locally will likely not be compatible with those machines.

I bought it directly from Drinkmate though because the accessories (i.e. extra bottles) are also on sale. Don't forget to use the referral code for $5 off.

It's cheaper? Apparently it can carbonate other liquids, not just water, so you can re-carbonate soft drinks or use it for juices, wine, etc.

Similar price once you add delivery. You can carbonate other liquids with other devices perfectly fine, they just don't recommend it to avoid any issues.

I'm wondering what's specific about this one, that they happily advertise other liquids are fine, but can't find anything to state what's different.

This is from their FAQ: Drinkmate is the world's first home carbonation machine that lets you carbonate any drink, not just water. The key is our patented Fizz Infuser technology. The Fizz Infuser provides a two-stage pressure release control that safely and easily allows you to carbonate virtually any drink. Other machines state they can only carbonate water, because they cannot safely depressurize beverages with sugar, flavors or alcohol in them.

@nomadic life: Thank you, that's what I was after understanding. That might be the same reason reviews like the NYT one suggest it tends to keep carbonation longer than other machines too.

Tempted now, especially with all the horror stories around the Philips' quality control.

            • @Hybroid: No worries! Yeah, I read the reviews on the Philips too, not great…

Hmmm, I tried to carbonate juice once with Sodastream and half of the bottle ended on the floor

Yes, as per @donga100, you can use it to carbonate other drinks too. Maybe re-carbonate a flat beer?

    Why awaited this in particular?

    • +1

I had originally planned to get a Sodastream, but because they've changed the cylinders in their new machines to the pink connector, I wouldn't be able to get refills from Billy bubbles

  • Interesting!
So i have a sodastream with a kegland gas bottle and sodastream adapter - will it fit this too?

  • Has anyone here made fizzy wine or revived a flat beer with this?

    • +1

yep works fine but it does create a foam which needs to dissipate

  • Pretty happy with mine. The design difference is the nozzle, in the omnifizz you attach it to the bottle and it has a pressure release as part of the nozzle. If you carbonate non water drinks you will need to wash the nozzle in warm water to get rid of any sugers.

  • I have one.. better than sodd works doesn't waste gas get more water

    • Does it work with sodastream bottles?

      • +1

Just received mine yesterday - no it's not compatible with Sodastream water bottles
