HP Dual USB-C Port 65W GaN Charger $39 + Delivery @ AusPCMarket

610

First post, so apologies in advance for any formatting issues, but I saw this on sale and noted it was substantially below the RRP.
HP for example lists this charger for 109 USD on their American website, and that’s inflated as one would expect, but locally it appears to range from 100-130 AUD or even higher.

As a ‘bargain’ it may be a questionable value proposition for most people looking for a phone or laptop charger, compared to buying Anker or Belkin, etc.; also the cost of the Standard or Expedited shipping options brings it up to slightly worse than 50%-off (vs. the bottom-end of the abovementioned price gamut), but the clover-shaped IEC power connector may make it good for travel, or other specific use-cases (a retro gamer modding your old systems to take USB-C, as one other example) plus the extra port could be handy if you need to charge multiple devices without wanting a full desktop hub like eg. a Ugreen nexode charger.
The build quality also seems good from preliminary investigations, so unlike a brick from Heymix et al. it shouldn’t cause any housefires. See the below link for a tear down;
https://www.chargerlab.com/teardown-of-hp-65w-dual-usb-c-gan…

Hope it might be of use to someone out there.
Thanks for your attention.

              @jv: nice tread, would bt a shame if someone comes in and interrupt the current flow

    Delivery cost $13

      And can only purchase one.

  • That's a solid buy for the peace of mind of the build and brand alone.

  • HP stuff varies a lot in quality from one business unit to another, but their chargers and cables are always solid af.

    Missed the boat but great post OP. The research and tone are appreciated.

  • Can't believe I paid $129 for one of these whilst away for work.

  • USB-C Charger with ground pin? Give me a dozen, please.

    • But is the ground pin connected? Need a teardown check. Still I agree that better than literally any deal on Aliexpress.

    @Proliferation, Excellent deal.

    Hope we find a GaN charger from a reputed manufacturer with free shipping in the next couple of months (Black Friday)

    What's does Gan III mean and does it make a real difference?

    Some or most of the specifications listed in generic GaN charges are fake. Any tear down on the following:

    LENCENT Universal Travel Adapter, GaN III 65W 2 USB Ports & 3 USB-C PD US$15.07 (~A$23.24)

  • Excellent deal, but TBH I'm more than happy with the 65W Lenovo (non GaN) laptop charger that was $23 a couple months ago. Once you reach a certain wattage, devices charge so fast that it doesn't matter to me whether there is one port or more.

    I can just disconnect my laptop, plug in the phone for 20 minutes, and everything is good for the rest of the day.
