      • +2

And what about the WiFi issues ?

        • what wifi issues… mine seems to have dropout issues :(

        • You can fix it using a piece of alu foil. Involves a bit of dissasembly though, so do it with care.

    Any deal on Ainol Flame/Fire?

    • +3
        • +46

well to be fair he posted the aurora as the bargain, not the fire.

        • +5

It's just an Ainol plug to go along with his main listing.

        • +8

How is it a random advertisement when requested the response from the OP?

  • do these units have hmdi out?

i need something that can play ppstv and has hdmi out

    thanks

    • Hi, Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II has HDMI out.

  • -2

good price REP. however, last time I checked there were a few sellers on aliexpress with the same price.
could you give us "ozbargainers" a code to make it $100?
we like nice round numbers around here :-)

    • +2

Hi,$109 is the best price we can offer. However, free shipping service is available.

    • +28

"we like nice round numbers around here :-)"

I'm sure they could round it up to $110 for you :)

      • I think in fact 0 is the only true round number :P

  • +1

with shipping damage insurance and $2 for Australian plug it comes
    to $116.98

  • +4

    Ainol, not sure if srs.

  • you getting the upcoming ainol crystal?

    • Sure :)

    • i just quickly googled the specs and from what i can see, it appears inferior to the Ainol Fire - unless its super cheap?

M6 vs the fire's MX processor
      1024x768 vs 1280x800 screen res

      what am i missing…

      • Its running jelly bean so it should probably still be smoother as these tablets aren't renowned for having great custom roms.
In saying that i did see the fire with a jelly bean update so it actually may be better to get the fire.

  • +1

can i run ppstv with this in australia to watch tvb?

can you add a discount code for DHL / FedEx / EMS (Average 4-8 Days) $19.90

if so i'll buy one :)

    • +1

no can do buddy, tvb has b7 ALL international IPs, doesnt matter how you try get around it, no proxy no worky either.

      • is it just tvb or other asian channels as well?

        what about paid vpn?

      • I am interested in this PPSTV issue too, I though a China base VPN or a Proxy at china can fix the problem???

Of course the alternative is to use a JBed Ipad/iphone. Heard that works quite well.

        • ppstv works on a PC in Australia. Why doesn't it work on a tablet?
Has someone tried on other Android tablet?

        • +1

ppstv works yes, however, anything from TVB doesnt, no VPN or proxy will fix it, theyre extremely ainol about it going great lengths to make you u dont get around it

If you can sell Flame for $150 then I am game!

    • +2

If you can sell Fire for $150 then I'm another Buyer!

    • +2

If you had the Flame/Fire for $150, I'd buy 2.

        Then make it happen!

      • +1

        Me too Mate.

Do the Fire for 150 and I'll take one

      • Count me in too if you make a deal on the Fire!

    • you can purchase the Flame/Fire fire $160 easily on Aliexpress - and these come with DHL shipping!

  • i'd buy one too for $150

  • +1

good price for aurora…. i own first version and it is very nice… would be perfect if it had bluetooth.

  • +2

Got one through the recent Buyincoins offer… very happy with it, haven't had any wifi problems and there were no dead pixels!

  • Received Two recently from Buyincoins no Pixel problems both are A Grade units and have Aug2012 manufacturing dates, Firmware can make a difference if you have WiFI issues. The out the box firmware was ver705 on mine and a bit flaky. I changed both to Pat moss DS24 firmware http://doublestuff.secureinstrument.com/. And both run great so far, it also removed the Chinese apps.

  • Slightly off topic, but is there an equivalent bang for buck android phone that can be purchased outright for sub $150? Or is one better off getting second hand? Would be looking for quad-band 3g, with gps, and modern android version.

  • Anyone know how much it weighs?

    • +1

      750g

    • Description says 320g.

      • 320g is net weight of the tablet.

  • How does it compare with Onda V711 ?

Heard good reviews about Onda so confused between Ainol and Onda.

  • Is this the best 7" around at this price?

    • +1

      Yes

  • +4

I'm waiting for the day they name one of their products "Beads" or "Plug"

  • I'm also comparing the price with Flame, its only $20 expensive …brings Bluetooth, additional camera, slightly bigger battery :

    http://m.aliexpress.com/item/630040288.html

    Your opinions ?

    • Fire is better. but with shipping it's close to $150 last time I checked.
% wise is a fair difference of $.

  • Great price. Bought mine for $160 all up a couple months ago. Update the firmware and you're good to go

  • I bought one of these Aurora 2's in the last ozbargain (buyincoins ~$120). Build quality is really nice but I had a MAJOR issue;

    • If the device goes to sleep it (the screen) will not wake up. I have to hard reset the device and power it on again. Easy solution was to leave wifi on, but that drains battery :(

BuyInCoins were nice enough to refund 15$ (I didn't want to dick around sending it back), so I guess I'll live with it.

I tried multiple roms (including a Jelly Bean/CyanogenMod 10 one) and it has the same issue. Was VERY easy to root.

    Common problems;
    http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/37319-current-aurora-ii-prob…

PS Android Jelly Bean is really really slick :)

    • So…better bet is to either get the Elf 2 which has less issues or pay more and get the Ainol Fire.

After getting my Cube U30GT tablet, and seeing its defects I'm actually quite convinced that Chinese tabs do have terrible quality control. Not that the CUbe u30GT tab is crap, but it's not made perfect either.

      • Elf 2 pretty much equals Aurora 2 except with non-IPS screen. So similar in fact that most of the roms for Aurora are ports of Elf roms.

I had an Acer Iconia a500 and a501 before this, both had similar annoying bugs, so I wouldn't limit 'quality control' it just to the cheap Chinese tablets.

My opinion is that considering expensive tablets might/do have bugs too, may as well save the money and risk it on what is seen as a very good device (Aurora 2) that has a lot of 3rd pary/after market/hacker support. I'm happy with it, its a good size and build quality seems fine. I think the issue I have is more software related, but who knows?

  • can anyone confirm if these are set up in english out of the box? Also would you recommend the screen and neoprene covers?

    • All tablets are set up in English before sent.

  • Is it 8Gb or 16GB? in the Additional Information tab it says 8GB but in the product title it says 16GB.

    • in the comments section on the product page, the rep confirms its 16gb

    • It is 16GB white edition.

"To make the Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II portable and easy to take"

Oh, come ON. That has to be deliberate!

  • To the guys that have this…a few questions please:
    - How's the battery life on it?
    - Can it play basically any video file type you throw at it?

and perhaps, the most important one… How much does it heat up when viewing something 'graphic intensive' like a 1080p file? Don't really want it burning hot! (Is that why they call the other one Flame?)

    • I love that the other one has had three names. Fire, Burning and then settled on Flame.

    • Battery life is decent about 3-4 hrs of heavy use playing games and the like
can play and decode any vid file ive thrown at it.. like 1080p mkv BR-RIP
does get a little warm … so do the ipads ive got

      • Roughly, how high were bitrate of the 1080p files you use?

  • hi rep i wanna buy one but can you guarantee the screen will be perfect with no any dead pixels and stuck pixels? thanks

    • same here, ready to pull the trigger, BUT dont want to be buying a defective product

    • +1

Sure, all tablet come with perfect screen.

  • bought one from buy in coins a few weeks ago. Mine had a minor screen issue, some condensation under the middle of screen. not a major issue, but something to keep in mind. I had some wifi issues, some touch screen issues and SD card prep issues- these were solved with DS24 ROM. It's still runs a little hot though, especially with Video files.

The cheapest Flame (Fire) I have found on the internet is here :

    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Stock-Original-Ainol-Novo-7-F…

    $139 delivered. Any opinions please.

    • The $139 bundle 1 doesn't seem to come with a charger? If you select Bundle 2 to get the standard charger (whatever it means) the prices increases to $158.99.

      The notes also state:
notes:We will post all the tablet pc with no packing except Option 2.

Elijah from Aliexpress has a better reputation and more ratings.

      • Yes you are right…probably worth paying $10 more and order from a reputed seller. Cheers for that.

        • +2

Are these units rechargeable through usb? Saves on buying the ac adapter.

        • They are, but they will only charge at 500mA, and not 2A like the AC charger will provide, so they charge a lot slower through the USB port.

        • Thanks. I don't mind it charging slower as I would plug it in overnight anyway. Will use my PCs ports & USB AC wall adapters for the job.

    Is this Ainol rootable? :)

Yes, not very painful at all.

      • +3

The more you do it, the less painful it gets

      • Y would someone neg that ?

  • Hi Rep / other OZbargain Gurus,
I am willing to spend upto 150 or so, is there a better specs out Ainol tablet available?

I am still looking for a simple comparison table of these different variants put together can't find it anywhere.

    • Hi, buying Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II will save you $40. You may also wait for our next Ainol Novo 7 Fire deal.

  • Honestly the Flame/fire seems to be the go man from that Brand. But extra 100 will get u a quad core beast (nexus7). But no micro sd, no hdmi, no 3g etc.. Argghh I'm the same boat. I just bought the Bauhn 9.7 tab from Aldis on sat but i wanna get a good 7"(no pun). Apple is rumored to bring out a 7" in the next 24hrs but dunno
now i have been exposed to android…. ahhh dunno. But yeah Flame/Fire for me.

  • Rep, I agree, I'd rather spend a little more and get something better,
Do you have a spec comparison sheet or something ?

Do you know When is your next Ainol Novo 7 Fire deal. coming?

    • Hi, you may find comparison of Ainol Novo 7 Fire and some other similar models here http://ainolstore.com/forums/topic/256-ainol-novo-7-fire-rul…

      • I just got the compare feature on your site to work.

No worries, Can you tell me if you could do a deal on this one >

Ainol Novo7 Fire Dual Core Android Tablet IPS Screen 1280*800 Dual Cam

Basically it is the same except it now has the Bluetooth + dual cam. Is that right?
        Thanks

  • +1

Having a hard time deciding if I should get the Ainol Flame or Freelander PD10 Olympic(has tv tuner).

    Good points of both are:

    Ainol Flame- $140 shipped
-MUCHHHHHH better CPU- AMLogic AML8726-MX 1.5GHz
    -Mali400 GPU
    -16GB Flash
    -1GB DDR3
    -IPS lcd
    -1280 x 800pxl res
    -5point cap-touch
    -802.11b/g/n
    -BT
    -Dual Cam F-2MP, B-5MP
    -HDMI

    Freelander PD10 Olympic- $120 shipped
    -Slower CPU- Cortex-A5 dual-core ARMv7 1.2GHz
    -Mali400 GPU
    -8GB Flash
    -512MB DDR3
    -800 x 480pxl res.
    -5point cap-touch
    -802.11b/g only
    -BT
    -Dual Cam F-0.3MP, B-2MP
    -HDMI
    Stand out features-
    -HD DVB-T tuner
    -GPS

Hmmmm, clearly the flame wins by miles, but for $20 cheaper get tv & gps (if important to you) & also much crappier specs overall. Honestly, there are just too many tab options these days that its overwhelming…

    • Link for Flame $140 shipped please

      • Yeah I'd like to get a flame / Fire for 140 $ Shipped let me know where you found it ?

  • GPS on a tablet not that imp I guess, if TV is really imp go for Freelander, else pay 20 $ and go for Ainol

    • Still want the tv func, but want to root it & put CM10 JB rom; worried there won't be any custom cm roms for this unit that has the apps/coding included to drive those functions on HW lvl. Seeing as the user support base is almost non existent compared to ainol, custom roms would be very rare so I'd be stuck with stock ICS rom.

So at the end of the day I'll probably have a 'flame' in my hands (& also $140 missing from my wallet :P)

      • Hi, Ainol released source code of Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II. So I believe that we will see a lot of great custom roms for the tablet.

  • Good thing I can pair this up with the pinhole camera

  • @ denghongterry

please fix the site as I can't select Expedited Shipping and update the cart?

    thanks

    • Hi neosin, I just tried the process, and everything worked fine. You may try another time or try with a different browser.

      • Hi denghongterry

        it does not work!!!

if you choose Expedited Shipping and press "update total" it does not update!!!!

i tried with latest internet explorer and google chrome

  • I bought the Ainol Novo 7 Elf 2 for $102 from BuyinCoins, very happy with it so far, rooted with DarkElf 1.1.
Chose the Elf2 over the Aurora because of reported issues with the cheap IPS screen, and a couple of other things.
