    in for 1.

    needed 49 for free shipping

    now in for 2

    • +1

      Damnit, same..

How come the extra fines are soo popular?

      • +6

        Just like a woman.

  • +1

    Great find!

  • +6

Genuine question why should I pay $22.5 + shipping for a ballpoint pen?

    • +1

      It’s a LAMY. It’s prestigious!

      • +2

I have one from my company for 10 year service. Sitting in the pool room. J.Burrows is my daily choice anyway

    • Because it's Koala-ty.

    • +10

      It's cheaper than a sword.

      • 😏

    • You shouldn't, unless you enjoy writing with finer pens enough to justify it. Same as with clothes, watches, and many other things in life.

  • +1

thanks, bought one and a ballpoint as well to get free shipping.

  • Sold out of the rollerball and silver ballpoint while I was ordering.

  • +6

If you are ordering the fountain pen and you are trying to get to $49, you may as well order a z27 converter because you will need one anyway. They usually throw in a complimentary cartridge but this is a fairly wet pen so that wont last long.

Herbin drawing inks are also on special ($3) and its well worth getting a couple. That should get you there.

    • Doesn't it come with a converter already?

      Its in the specs.

      • I don't think it will come with the converter, but we'll see!

      • Refill with LAMY T10 giant ink cartridge or Z27 LAMY converter for bottled ink

Does not say included like the "blue ink" just above it.

  • +1

Does it come in a fancy box? Would be a great gift.

What's so good about this? And what is the difference between fountain and ballpoint?

    • +12

Yeah! And while you are at it - what's the difference between a roller coaster and a hot air balloon?

      • Poor me, I thought fountain and ballpoint were model names.

I've actually owned a Lamy which a friend of mine bought me as a gift when he travelled to Germany, but to be honest I think it is not as good as some Japanese pens that I regularly use, like the uniball UMN-207.

        • I was just messing about. Can't understand why anyone would downvote your comment..Legit seemed like a reasonable question.

  • +1

Thanks. Bought this and the Lamy studio

Will be interesting to see how these feel relative to the plastic safaris

    Some nice kaweko pens too

    • Same. I already have a Lamy studio blue (paid more than double the current price for that) . For this price it's a steal.

Have have 20+ fountain pens and Studio is my favourite so far.

      • +2

I am the opposite, I have a blue Lamy Aion and a collection of Safaris and Al-Stars. In my opinion the Aion is a different beast altogether and you'll likely love or hate to write with it. Compared to the Safaris and Al-Stars, the Aion is heavier and slightly bigger/longer making it feel solid and robust, but this is the same reason it also feels clumsier, more unbalanced and less refined than the Safari or Al-Star. On the plus side ink delivery is similar and as reliable as the Safari and Al-Star and the metallic colour choices are eye catching. I think this pen would fit someone with larger hands and/or those finding the Safari and Al-Star too small and uncomfortable to hold.

    • Was the studio on sale?

      • +2

Yes the brown version is at 69.50. I've never seen the studio that cheap.

        • Is the LAMY Scala any good? It's $101.50 down from $300 +

Also would you recommend the studio as a first fountain pen lol.

          • +1

@Tehcookiemonsta: Lamy Scala and Studio are pretty similar. Can't go wrong with either. In most colours, the grip section is gloss metal which I like but some people have grip issues with that. So if that's a potential problem, you might have to go with a different model/colour.

        • Thanks! Got both. Black studio would have been nice. Brown will do. Gotta buy some ink now… any deals on inks other than the one mentioned above?

          • @park it: There is this set of 4 which seems to have 3 common colors to use.

            • @Tehcookiemonsta: Looking for just black 😬

            • +1

@Tehcookiemonsta: Herbin inks are good. Herbin 1670 Emerald Of Chivor is probably my favourite. But this one is sold as a drawing ink. So eventhough you can use it in fountain pens, you'd probably need more frequent cleaning - this is not a day to day use ink. I'd rather get the regular Lamy ink (or any other decent brand).

Edit : I personally prefer Pilot, Pelikan and Sailor inks for daily use. Waterman too. I wouldn't buy Lamy bottles unless they are at a discount.

          • @park it: Noodler's ink

            • @stockastics: Yes Diamine, Noodlers and Rohrer & Klingner too. I still feel the big company brands like Pilot, Pelikan (which has a nice black) and Waterman are easier on maintainance and cleaning for daily use.

Sailor has a nice textured and shiny black (Kiwa Guro) but those inks work better if you clean your pen every time you refill which is kind of a pain.

          • @park it: Just keep in mind that most fountain pen inks are water-based, and therefore aren't resistant, so if you're looking for something that doesn't run if it gets wet (I've lost work due to this), or if you need inks that are at least semi-permanent for legal reasons, you've got to be careful what you buy!

            • @Tangenyahu: Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa (Iron Gall) is my favourite semi permanent ink (and the only one that I rely on to be so). It's not a archival/legal ink but the colour and the history of iron gall inks makes it worth it.

    • Same. Got M nib for Lamy Studio. Found it far smoother than EF or F.

      • Got EF. Hopefully it’s not too rough…

        • Buy the Aion in M. If you don't like the EF you can swap the nib.

        • +1

its a knife. i had it on my safari. fine is better, but M is best.

    • Same! I have the AL star in fine from a previous OzB deal. I got this one in black (silver sold out) and the studio in brown with an EF!

  • now says notify me so out of stock ?

    • Black, fine and medium tips still available..

  • I like my gold rolled classic Cross pen. It’s a classic design, you see it in loads of old movies.

    • i have one, overrated. more nostalgic. it doesn't write well unless you add a good amount of pressure on it.

  • +1

Definitely the Scala Fountain Pen Matte Black is great value and has good reviews online

  • Thanks, OP, great find. Ordered two medium fountain pens along with the ink converter so you can bottled ink. I've recently discovered the benefits of fountain pens after buying a highly-rated generic fountain pen off Amazon. One word of warning though - the inks are pretty much permanent. Almost spilled a bottle onto our cream carpet! Takes days to come off your fingers!!!

  • Do i need a fountain pen?

  • Can you buy this in store?

  • +1

I bought the cp1 from amazon a few weeks back but gosh if I had known the ideos was going to be on sale I would have waited. The cp1 is beautiful but ideos even more so

  • Damn, whoever got the pilot custom 823 in amber for $167 should be happy with themselves.

    • +1

i was thinking of getting this one too, but i already have a mont blanc for special occasions.

    • +1

I was so salty I wasn't early enough for that one. That was an absolute bargain.

    • Damn, those look wicked!

  • +1

Black medium nib back in stock it seems

    • thank you, just purchased one.

not enough for free shipping :(

added another pen and converter, that i don't need. well i kinda need a converter, but now have free shipping.

  • Oops 😅 that escalated quickly. Started out with just an AL Star last night. Between 1AM and now. 4 orders. 2 Aion. 1 Studio. 1 Scala. A few converters…

    • +2

lol, i did the same. i have no idea how or when i can use all my new fountain pens. i guessing i will just keep it in my inventory and use it when i lose or get tired of using one. perhaps even gift it for nicer occasions.

      • I’m going to start journaling 😆

    • +1

Hahah same here. I just wanted the ystudio pen but then the dialog and the imperium were so cheap so had to get them. Then found the aion for 31 and kinda gave up and started buying every lamy on sale.

  • +3

    Great for signing bankruptcy form

  • Thanks, bought one. Medium. Also some ink that was on sale to make $50. Now see if they have converter with it. Think Officeworks got it otherwise. Very happy daughter as doing lots of drawings. So to get this correct the refiller is easy to clean out and swap colors or get 4 or so for different colors? Also do they stay fine in the refiller if not used for example 2 or 3 weeks? Sorry about the questions. She currently have a “glass pen, fountain”

  • +1

Still available in Black M nib, great price, thanks OP. Threw in a little Rhodia and converter to reach free shipping

  • Thanks OP - got the Aion, noto ballpoint, converter and some ink.

  • What happened to the Xiaomi pen?

    • Haha, they're still around?

I still have like 2 unopened from a few years ago when I got 3 for $2 each via eBay I think it was.. 😅

Probably the best $2 pen I've ever used. I rarely need to write nowadays though so I'm still on my first one.

  • +4

    There shipping is very slow.

    • Yes, still waiting for them to ship mine too.

      • Same, guess they ship once/week if not express.

    • Yes, only got the AusPost shipping update today. Can't complain for free shipping + reasonable prices I guess.

      • Same, mine shipped today. May also be slower because we ozbargained it!

  • +3

Just got mine, make sure to carefully inspect them as one of mine came with significant dents in the aluminium enclosure.

    • can you elaborate on where in the enclosure or show pictures of said dents?

      • Mine were at the top of the pen, opposite to the nib side.

  • Mine came in the morning.
Have to say I prefer the Lamy Studio much more than the Lamy Scala. Still, not a bad price for the Scala. I paid much more to get the Studio.

Aion also feels cheaper than an Al-Star for some reason (again not bad for the price)

  • Mine came in. Much prefer it to the Safari ans Al-Star. Actually like it more than Lamy Studio because the grip is better

    • +1

mine are stuck with Auspost for 10 days without any movement. Australia Post customer service has gone downhill. they refuse to look into it and persist its just delayed and is within the time frame

  • +1

Mine came in (Aion). Actually pretty dry line, in hindsight should have gone for the M nib but most reviews seem to indicate if anything it was a bit on the wet side. Nice pen for the price, thanks OP.

  • +1

Warning: Do not buy from this store Their after sales service is non-existent. I purchased 3 Lamy fountain pens from them. The Scala has a couple of blemishes which I will ignore. The Studio has a faulty cap and would not stay on. I contacted their support about the faulty cap and they asked me to send in a video which I promptly did. It's now been 2 days and I have not heard from them. I sent a follow up email, no reply so far. The contact number listed on their website is also not working.

    • OK they emailed me a return postage label yesterday, and said they will send me a replacement. Will keep this thread updated.

      • +2

Check your replacement. They've sent me a replacement Studio and it had the same issue. The Aion also had white mould growing inside the pen.
I recommend everyone check their Aion by unscrewing it and looking down the back part of it and see if there is a layer of mould on it.

I've requested a refund for all my pens still yet to get a reply.

        • @undien I just unscrewed the Aion and checked and there's white residue (mould?) on the back part of my pen also !

          • @djevoultion: Yeah.. I definitely think it's a storage issue/ humidity issue or something and I think affected the batch of pens they had.

I'm sure you can clean it off but it grossed me out enough to not want it.

            • @undien: Did they accept a return for you ?

              • @djevoultion: Yeah they replied I could get a full refund, so I sent my purchases back.

It's a shame because I wanted the pen as well but I feel like every Aion they have will have that issue.

          • @djevoultion: Also, be careful with mould and inks. If you want to fill this pen use a syringe to fill converters or use disposable cartiges to prevent ink wells from getting contaminated.

The last thing you want is mould in the ink which could potentially ruin other pens as well / ruin the ink.

  • Order cancelled at my request hmmm I wasn't that drunk last night
