Note: there is a $50 coupon on the Amazon page to get this deal, but it doesn't have a name to put in the field above.

I've been a little bit sceptical of the "value proposition" of some of these low power mini PCs when you compare them performance/dollar with the Ryzen minis. However this one was too good to pass up!

  • Alder Lake N95 CPU
  • 8 GB SODIMM RAM (3200MHz?)
  • 256 GB NVMe SSD
  • slot for 2.5" SSD/HDD (doesn't say max thickness but I'd assume 9mm)
  • 2 x HDMI 4k@60Hz
  • 4 x USB 3.2 (type A), 1GBe, Audio 3.5mm
  • WiFi 5
  • BT 4.2
  • Windows 11 Pro
  • 4.5 x 4 x 1.5 inches… um, about the same size as a 4x4 NUC

Note:

  • No USB-C or Thunderbolt
  • Only a single RAM slot, NVMe has only a single PCIe lane
  • RAM and SSD are no-name apparently even though one of the pictures shows a Crucial RAM stick. But they are replaceable later if need be.

It's fan cooled (yay!) but Robtech says it's very quiet. UPDATE: it is not quiet.

Does it filter at least 95% of airborne particles that have a mass median aerodynamic diameter of 0.3 micrometers

  • Sadly as soon as you want pick more RAM and storage there's no coupon anymore.

    • Yeah, it's just this configuration.

  • I have Beelink GTR which is very noisy and hot.
GPU is always over 100 degrees

Upgraded to UM790 last week - wow, super quiet and cool

    64gb DDR5 plus 1T version cost around $1100

    Price is acceptable

  • So what is the deal with these things? I mean whole device is crazy cheap and then it includes a full windows licence worth around $200 - more than the whole package.

Is that some pirated version? Or is it subsidised by income from spyware which comes with it? Or is it just a greymarket key without licence, which can stop working at any moment? I certainly Wish that there was no Catch but the price just does not make sense.

    • OEM licenses don't cost as much as a retail licence, in fact very little.

      • They do. Retail/box is ~AU$300, OEM is ~AU$200 (source: I build computers).

        • Do you sell systems in large quantities like these?

          • @ldd-mn: No but principle is same. Maybe you meant volume licensing? That could be possible, but comes with strings attached (not for resale)

            • @Vecernik87: I must be, please forgive me

              • @ldd-mn: You did nothing wrong so there is nothing to be forgiven. I am trying to figure it out and any idea or suggestion is welcome.

@Vecernik87: From what I've seen they use a stock install of Windows, I doubt there's malware included with it. Personally I'd reinstall the OS anyway so it doesn't bother me. Could be using HWID activation scripts.

        • To be clear, I am not confusing OEM with volume licensing, but I was under the impression that the OEM license cost is still based on the quantity in which the business buys the licenses.

Looks like the coupon has gone for me

    • Oh, that didn't last long. I'll mark as expired :(

  • does it run on Nokia N95 I still have one of those

For the sake of posterity, I'll note that I returned it because of the noise, contrary to what the reviews say, it's not at all quiet :(
