  • Before anyone asks, this can be used for PS5, but buy a heat sink as well

  • This is pretty good read/write speeds. What's the compatible Samsung version? 980Pro?

  • i have ordered SN850X from previous deal for $187, should I cancel and get this?

    • +1

No I would keep the SN850X deal, it's slightly faster than this one

    • +1

Agree with giantxtc2joshua but this one has slightly better endurance (1600 here vs 1200 for 850x)

  • Buy it or not to buy???
I still have one unopened 980pro 2TB that paid $167 sitting in the box…

    • This one is faster but it won't be noticeable

    • And the one you bought has a heatsink (this one doesn't) so you can expect less throttling.

  • Another person looking for advice on how this compares to other 2TB SSDs. Specifically, this recent Gigabyte 2TB deal?

    • +1

That is a beast of a deal. One of the highest endurance ratings and very well reviewed.

For speed, you honestly wouldnt be able to tell the difference between almost all drives in this calibre.

If I needed a drive I'd probably get the gigabyte but only if you didn't care about US Amazon support.

      • Thanks for the insight :)

        • I reckon KC3000 over the Gigabyte one unless you must get one with the heatsink included.

While in general day to day use, you may not be able to notice the difference in reads, the writes is quite noticeable. Phison E16 SSD's dynamic SLC cache is smaller and sustained write after SLC cache runs out isn't stellar. If price is a concern, then NM790 2TB is still hard to beat. NM790 will give that Gigabyte SSD a really hard time. At least with KC3000, there is an excuse that it still has better sustained write over NM790.

    • There seems to be a speed difference between the 1TB and 2TB versions (the 1TB being slower). Tweaktown specifically tested the 2TB version and it seemed to smash most tests:

    • If only this ssd fit in a laptop

  • This VS lexar nm790 for an os drive?
