All printers come with "starter" toners though? So wouldnt really matter which printer you buy, you will nearly always be up for the cost of another set of cartridges.

      • +2

        +1

        • A lot do.
Point me to at least 3 colour printers that you know that sell for less than $200 and come with full toner cartridges (with printing capacity of > 1000 pages for black and > 700 pages for each of the colours at 5% coverage).

Compare the total and see if it is good.
In my mind this is a good deal. If you disagree, post a better price for this item. Or an alternate item with lower upfront and/or running costs.

And "Approx Yield: 1,400 pages @ 5% coverage"
          http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/html/printeryieldguide.h…

I suppose this is cheap if you want a hundred or two colour pages, then send it to landfill.
Find us a cheaper printer in the sub $200 price range (both for upfront cost and low running costs).

      • +1

Apparently this model can be refilled.

Two sets of toner here for $140. That is much better!

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8x-FUJI-XEROX-CP105-CP105B-CP205-…

    • +1

How long will the starter toner last compared to the real cartridges?

    • +7

If full toner is worth $320, and these come with starter toner (roughly 50% full compared to full), then this printer comes with $160 worth of toner - and it only costs $99 (+ delivery).

In other words, by your own maths, the printer is cheap and this is a great deal.

That being said if you are prepared to use refills you can get toner much cheaper (e.g. http://www.tonerstop.com.au/Xerox-DocuPrint-CP205B-Bundled-S… will fill each colour twice for only $149). Or you can get replacement OEM cartridges for less than $200.

      • +2

You have to be good at maths to be an top ozbaraginer!

        • +8

But obviously being good at English is not a prerequisite! :P

    • +11

Hey I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my printer, so up vote me maybe

  • +16

    More than $9? No deal.

    • That deal has put some people off any other deals for a printer. Still have the wireless Dell printer unopened somewhere. Don't think I will be looking for another printer deal in the short term.

      • -3

        Sold mine for $50 lol

        • -2

Neggers.. You jelly? Bahah how lame

        • -1

          I didn't neg you…
Until you said "You jelly?" of course.

  • any one know if 3rd party toners are available for these? or if they are refillable.

I don't often print at home one of these could suit me for ages.. I know I lost a lot of ink cartridges from sitting idle in my old inkjet printer but laser can sit inactive for a lot longer right?

    • Laser toner can definitely sit idle a lot longer than ink cartridges! This is an ideal printer for low volume printing because the print heads won't clog from liquid settling (which can happen to inkjet printers when they're not used).

      • Shipping to Perth $34.80 - over 1/3 the item cost.
        Not cool for me unfortunately.

        • Sorry, the items are in our Melbourne warehouse - which makes individual WA & NT courier deliveries rather expensive. :(

        • what's your best shipping price for 2 of these to the same location in Perth? (i.e. I know where 'Elijha' lives :)

        • +2

We can do 2 units to one address in metro Perth for $45. We'll have to manually override the shopping cart (which will probably say $57.60), so please put a note in your order comments and wait for the updated invoice before paying - unless you're paying by credit card, in which case we can take care of it for you (the usual surcharge will still apply, but only on the lesser amount).

  • +1

Hard to find a colour laster printer with ethernet port that is cheaper than this one.
The S-LED technology does print better quality photos compared to other traditional low-end / midrange colour laser printers.

The only down side is that, even though this is one of the smaller laser printers, it is still big, bulky compared to low end black and whiter laser printers.

    • Is S-LED better for documents too?

  • Isn't a PayPal surcharge against their User Agreement?

    • If it is applied only against PayPal and not any other form of payment ie if paying with PayPal add 2% - then it's against the PayPal terms. But say if Credit Cards and/or PayPal as payment options both attract a 2% fee then that isn't (ie as long as they don't disadvantage PayPal as a method of payment). AFAIK

    • +1

      Only on ebay.

  • +1

Hey Hot rep - you guys send account passwords in plain text via email. Not a good idea.

  • +1

Thanks for a great deal. I was looking for some genuine toner for my 205w, I just purchased 2 of these instead. Who knows, maybe I can ebay the printers minus the toner :P

  • +2

Good price, but I reckon shipping is going to kill this deal for most people.

I'm guessing no pick up option for your melbourne warehouse?

  • Ethernet, nice!

  • +5

If you want cheap generic toner, you can buy it here for only $19 each:

    http://www.protoner.com.au/category68_1.htm#3166

    Other color:
    http://www.protoner.com.au/webcontent-2.htm?q=cp205

I think the shipping is capped at $9.

I have bought toner from them for my brother 2132 printer. The toner so far helped me to print more than 1k paper and still working real well. My toner was rated at 2.5k.

It is a highly recommended seller.I don't really like to refill the toner as it may require some skills to do it but having a brand new toner is definitely hassle free.

EDITED: You may buy it from them through ebay and you can make offer for lower prices, I indeed bought two last time and saved $2 for each of them

    http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/procolor2012/m.html?_nkw=cp+205&_…

    • Thank you very much for putting the links up. The price for the toner cartridge for my fujixerox m205b is only $14 + shipping. It is cheaper than the toner refill sold by tonerstop on ebay. I contacted the ebay seller, I could do pick up as well.

  • +1

I'm gonna say this but yeah I'm still happy with my $9 printer from Dell :-)

  • We got a M205B B&W m/f Fuji Xerox well over a year ago and it is A1. Best printer ever. Would not go back to messy ink and all its problems.
Got a refill (large) thru ebay for around $22 delivered. Havn't tried it yet as it is still on it's original cartridge.

  • How long does a genuine/non-genuine ink cartridge last for? It says 20,000 per month duty amount but I don't know what that means

  • Good stuff, I always wanted a colour laser printer for a long time. Now I can get one for decent price.

  • -5

Id buy this if it was $9

  • $58.02 freight to Central QLD….no deal!!

  • Definitely a deal for me

  • Disregard that. Solid deal, a lot sell it for 150 so it's nothing amazing, but still a solid deal.

I think the $20 shipping to Sydney with the Paypal surcharge isn't too pricey. I checked on other sites that have stock from Melbourne and they we're charging 40-50 for shipping.

  • Shipping is too much!! :( (to Perth)
    Awesome deal otherwise!

  • -1

@ REP (Hot) - Thanks for the deal - Just bought one!
BUT you need to revise the %2 Surcharge Calculation used in your website checkout process. It is currently applied to the Total cost BEFORE the discount applied. Surcharge should ONLY be applied to the ACTUAL Total Cost, ie AFTER all discounts have been applied!

  • A question for the rep, can you use CP205 refills and/or toners for the CP205n?

  • I have a CP205w which is essentially the same. The print quality is great and I've found it to be quite reliable. Highly recommended, especially at that price.

  • where do you apply the coupon code? Do you need to create an account first?

    • You need to create an account as there seems to be no way to checkout without one. During checkout there will be a coupon field to fill in.

  • bought

  • OWWW…$22 shipping

  • Shame they don't allow pickup, this seems to be running out of the location that Ausmedia was at (http://www.ausmedia.com.au/)

  • Really want a colour laser at home just cause its laser but I'm a cheapskate so just print all my shit in the office…lol free toner and paper!!!

  • -1

Is the deal ended? Price back up to 169 for me… I really wanted one to! Possible to give me same price? :) user name is "sestrooper" on site.

    • +1

Just apply the code when check out!

    • +1

I don't get it. The text is in bold (hot.com.au $169 - $70 UPVOTEMEMAYBE coupon = $99 + delivery) and the coupon code is clearly visible. I heard people aren't reading books anymore but this is almost as if nothing is being read.

      • +1

Apologies, I didn't see the coupon. Thanks for the help!

  • Does this print in A3?

    • +5

only at 50% size on A4 paper

  • I've never had a colour laser before.
will this be able to print decent letterheads?
And also will replacement toners be easy(Cheap) to source 3-4 years down the track?

    • +1

will this be able to print decent letterheads?

      Yes

And also will replacement toners be easy(Cheap) to source 3-4 years down the track?

Maybe. But in 3-4 years it'll probably still be cheaper to buy a new printer with all the new features.

I've owned a 2x Fuji Xerox C525As, a Fuji Xerox C1190FS and now I've ordered a CP205 from this deal. Every time the cost of the printer is roughly at or below the cost of the "official" toner that comes with a new printer.

So while not environmentally friendly, it make economic sense to wait until the warranty has expired and you've used most of all the toner and just buy the next year's model. I generally run 4-6 full sets of toner (6-10 times the printer's purchase price) through a printer then scrap it.

Eg as pointed out above, this printer is ~$125 delivered, comes with a one year warranty and includes ~$140 worth of toner. It's cheaper to replace it than buy a full set of official toner.

My earlier FX printers (C525a and C1190FS) first major expense, apart from toner, was the drum unit which usually is good for ~20,000 pages. When that was ready to be replaced, it was cheaper to replace the entire printer. Thankfully, this printer doesn't appear to use a drum unit or fuser, so the only running expense should be toner.

You can buy 3rd party toner cartridges cheaper, and that may be an option for you. Personally I tried it once (in my first C525A) and one leaked through the printer and ruined it. It would have cost more to repair than replace the printer. So I'd keep to the official toners until the warranty runs out and you don't mind the risk of killing the printer by using them.

But if you're only used inkjets, laser printers (even on official toner) have lower running costs. Especially if you don't print often, where inkjets spend most of your ink on "cleaning", rather than printing.

      Check this video out.

  • Expired? On clicking through I get an item price of $234.88 and coupon code brings up "You do not have applicable products in your cart."

  • +2

Doh, missed out! OP, is there any chance of more stock and running this deal a little longer? I'm okay with a week or two's wait.

  • +5

I'm so glad this sold out — the temptation to resist buying was becoming uncontrollable! I think I'm suffering from ozbargainitus - the impulsive compulsive condition where you want to purchase an item you see on the site not because you actually have a need for it, but because it's a bargain…

  • My printer just arrived (northern Melb)… very happy with the price and prompt delivery!

    • hi. just wonderibg how much was your shipping.

      • ~$17 for shipping.

I paid with credit card and the total was just under $120.

  • +1

    Missed out:(….
Although it's not showing OOS, but it's coming up as:
    Order total preview:
    Subtotal: $234.88

  • i registered on the site this morning and must of just missed out, was really hoping to get this :(

  • Hmm - anyone else not get a power cord in the box?

    • yep not power cord for me either

    • -1

Haven't received mine yet (due to Startrack did not follow delivery instructions!), but it's odd that power cord was not included in the box. Is it listed as part of contents in the booklet? Is it 3-pin? or fig-8?

  • recived mine last Monday, opened it today and found out there is no power cord!!! How do i even use it without power damit!!!!!!
