I can still think of better thing to spend $1300 on. I'm too cheap to pay the $370 to go to the registry office and make it legal.

Can you marry your sex doll with this service

    Asking for a friend

  • No train stations? Trainspotters got shunted again.

  • May I invite a few government officials from Sydney and Canberra to my wedding venue?

  • +9

Had a look at one option. $1299 is for a 20 minute wedding, not the reception, which costs the standard 100-200 per person for drinks and canapes.

    • +1

Ahhh so the Government has cheaped out again!

  • They'd have to pay me

  • +2

    Government is broke AF.

  • +4

    Your wedding ceremony

    Includes:

    ceremony in the Water Pavillion
    ceremony styling
    celebrant
    commemorative wedding certificate
    standard wedding certificate

Look its cheap for the venue - but don't really see the value in 1.2k.

Most likely a ton of upselling.

    • +3

      No cake?

    • From who, a lazy employee who just wants a pay check

    • +1

how much does it cost if I get those separately? I'm having trouble working out the savings from this incentive

      • +6

Not sure how the venues differ but:

Garden of friendship is 780 for three hours

Styling is 0-1000 depending on your taste

        Celebrant is 750 or so.

        87 for both certificates.

Looks to be a saving of about $500, but at the expense of being rushed in a 45 minute window, having it on a specific random day, having an unknown celebrant and limiting it to 35 people total.

  • How much would an average “normal” wedding cost?

    • I think the point is that the venue is cheaper than would normally be.
Wedding costs are up to you.

    • How long is an average “normal” piece of string?

  • +4

getting a wife is no bargain, trust me!

  • Checked and comes to $6075 including venue, certificate, dinner for 35, flowers and standard photoshoot.

    • +2

171 per person is still cheap

      • Care to explain?

        • +2

Never arranged a wedding, have you?

          • @singlemalt72: I haven’t hence I’m asking right?

            • @nightelves: Explanation - Weddings are expensive, short of a paperwork only with a celebrant that will cost a couple of hundred.
Dresses, suits, flowers, photographer/s, venue, catering, cars, accommodation …… currently the average wedding cost in Australia is around $35,000 (some say $25,000, some say $50,000 but this seems an accepted figure)

            • @nightelves: I've got my wedding in Oct and we're doing a destination wedding in Bali. All costs considered it comes to $40,000 AUD which is considered cheap compared to the premium venues here in Sydney.

              Things included are:
Flights, venue and accommodation for 3 nights at a 5-star resort (mini-honeymoon essentially), fireworks, floral arrangements, celebrant, photographer and videographer, catering for 40 people, alcoholic drinks package, wedding planner and designer, make-up artist, hair stylist, waiters and supporting staff.

Overall considered a 'good deal' compared to what you have to pay for the same thing in Sydney.

  • only 35 people. reminds me of the covid restricted weddings. no thanks

  • +1

This has been offered for a while by the govt. There are celebrants cheaper than this in Sydney lol. You can do it at Blues Point for example for free if you keep the numbers low.

    • +2

The cost of a celebrant is only one component. The offer is primarily for the venue, which appears to be discounted.

  • +11

I did this micro wedding last year. It was amazing, highly recommend it. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any.

    • +4

      How was your honeymoon?

      • We did the honeymoon before the wedding. It was great!

      • He went to Micronesia

    • +4

If your life was being made into a movie, which actor would you cast to play you?

      • +1

Angelina Jolie. She looks nothing like me, but shes a great actress!

    • Where will you buy your next IP?

  • Damn no excuse that wedding is so expensive now

  • +5

The wedding and funeral industries are the biggest scams. 4 hr function photoshoot = $1000, 4 hr wedding photoshoot = $5000

    • Unless youre Ansel Adams, no wedding photographer is worth more than $250 an hour

      • +2

I imagine that the four hours refers to the duration of the photo shoot, not the work afterwards, which could be extensive.

    • i just did a funeral and it cost around $27k

  • +5

    Anyone wanna go halvesies?

  • -1

    What's a "micro wedding" - a wedding for leprechaun's?

    • +3

      Hobbits.

      My precious….

      • +3

        The ring bearer

        • Yeah, ring bear~

          • @Homr: Now now. You are turning it into a circus.

  • +1

What are you getting with this package? Looks like a ceremony venue for 45 or so mins and a celebrant? So it's like going to the registry but in a very nice place

  • As someone from a small family I can't even think of 10+ people to invite for a wedding lol.

  • Apparently all the best locations in NSW are in Sydney! New Sydney Wales…

    • +2

They didn't make the capital of NSW Orange for a reason

Should've been Dubbo. Or Broken Hill.

        • The one person who thinks Dubbo isn't a shithole found this comment and negged it!

  • +5

It was a weird af conversation, but ultimately I got an OfficeWorks price match.

    • +1

You can have the ceremony itself in the Office Furniture section of the store, lots of chairs.

It can be live-streamed to all of the monitors for standing guests in other parts of the store

  • -1

    Suits all the tightass OzBargainers.
Or even better, don't have a wedding at all.

    • +1

I'd be shocked if the more regular OzBargainers had ever had contact with the opposite sex.

  • I wonder if there is an XS, S, M, L, XL wedding package also.

  • Is Food & beverage provided with the package??

  • this isnt a deal … get married in a church is cheaper.

    • Just live together is cheaperer.

      • -1

well sort of no… it might be cheap on the day but i guarantee you, you will lose in the long run.

  • +2

Take my advice. Don get married. Saves u ton of money n peace of life

    • Always marry up

    • +1

Or buy cars. Old saying if has wheels or tits, it will give you the shits

      • …and don't lend your lawn mower, chainsaw, or missus.

        • don't lend your missus.

          Instructions unclear. She divorced me.

  • pretty sure this is a long running deal. I saw it at the end of last year when i was looking at wedding options.

  • Definitely a bargain, cheaper than a twin share cruise package — probably easier to find someone to share 😂

  • This is a really strange offer, especially directly from NSW gov?? Why…?

    • +1

I'm reasonably sure that the NSW government owns the venues.

    • Yep, very odd.

    • It may encourage 30 people to book hotels, dine out and have a party somewhere in nsw.

Do you also question the creative kids, active kids, or swimming lesson vouchers? The old dine and discover scheme?

  • +2

This, or an Asus ROG Ally?

    Decisions, decisions.

    • Or the rumoured legion go?

  • Just booked it to celebrate my 50th

  • +4

This is like a printer deal where you pay less for the printer but for more for the toner lol

  • Micro Wedding

Is this only for extra's from Willy Wonka?

  • I just don't see why the government is involved in this?

    • They gotta make some money somehow.

  • 8 years late

  • nice! shame only like 4 dates left lol

  • Wow I can finally book - I've been waiting for a deal (not even joking!!) 😁 😁 😁

  • Friend just spent $22k on wedding…

    • did you get invite? What food & drinks did they provide??

      • I did. It was at a golf club, about 140 people, very basic setting and basic drinks but dinner was really nice. $22k doesnt get you much!

        • Wow 140 ppl is alot.

          • +1

@Homr: Once you get around 50 family and friends they mostly bring a +1 and kids

  • Its kinda glaringly obvious that "From $1299" is definitely the lower end. If you want to EAT, that's more like $7000

Also also. I was browsing the Yallumbi Rooms for e.g. They're designed for like 100 people. It would feel weird as to have only 35 people in that sort of a venue! Real Nigel No Friends

  • does this include food for 35 people?

  • +4

This is a hack. Get other 11 couples and say I do together. Comes down to just over $100 per couple.

    • +2

Throw keys into a bowl at end of night?…..

      • Perfect time to use those condoms from past deals.

  • 20 mins is just way too short.

    • Thats all you need on your first night. Then back to fb to check all the likes

    • That's what she said.
