Easynews Unlimited Plan (Includes Privado VPN) - US$2.99 Per Month (~A$4.63)

590

This is about as cheap as you can get Unlimited Internet. Privado is an okay VPN provider that lots of Usenet providers use, fine for browsing or torrenting but not so great for circumventiong geo-blocking or getting regional pricing deal (likely to be blocked).

One thing that sets Easynews apart is that, in addition to NNTP Usenet (ie requiring a special client), they also have a Web based front end with searching enable (including inside archives), so, for instance, you can track down a copy of a particular music single in flac format). The web interface is here: https://members.easynews.com/global5/

I have been using an Easynews $3 USD a month plan for the last 3 years and would recommend them, unless you want to do a lot of posting (they sin bin you if you get DMCAed). Also note that historically Usenet providers offer discounted pricing around Black Freitag / Cyber Monday.

Not really, Usenet providers generally only allow a single IP address.

  • can this be used with prowlarr? im trying to find the API key but nowhere to be found.

    • I think you have to install other linking software?

  • Thanks OP

  • I'm late to the comments but jumped on this as Usenet has always been a bit of a black box to me. Seems like I need another indexer to set this up with sonarr and radarr though… which means more money. Is the only way to use Easynet through its web search?

Is the only way to use Easynet through its web search?

Yes, it's only a provider and not a traditional indexer which would normally be usable in sonarr and radarr.

      • Yep I thought so. Thanks mate. So is there a way around this by using another indexer for the search or is it web search only?

        • Yep if you’re using Usenet for downloading binaries, then you would sign up to an indexer and a provider separately.

  • Can anybody give me a pointer how to use the PrivadoVPN included with EasyNews? I can't find any instructions. I downloaded the PrivadoVPN app but don't know what my login details should be.

    • For anybody else in the same situation, contact EasyNews support. They responded quickly to provide a username and password for logging in to PrivadoVPN.
