½ Price KB's Gyoza 750g $8.50 @ Coles

½ Price KB's Gyoza 750g - $8.50

It's been about 6 months since they've been half price. Inflation hasn't hit these…yet.

When I'm lazy or need a quick meal, I just place them in the air fryer with a light spray of oil for ~10 minutes.

Nice gyoza ! Usually used by many restaurant around here

  • Nice one, that's my favourite frozen Gyoza out of all the ones I've tried.

    • Agree. But it's certainly the most expensive one.

      • Yeah cheaper at Korea supermarkets (although even those aren't that cheap anymore).

        • Cheaper than this or cheaper than normal prices?

    • +1

Have you tried the Aldi ones? I would say on par if not a bit better. Low price every day too!

      • +1

        Much less filling on Aldi's

        • This is the case most frozen savoury snack items with pastry at aldi. Cheaper but less filling

  • +3

Goes well with ABC's extra hot chilli sauce.

    • +1

100%, my go-to combination with these

      • +2

Soy sauce and sriracha is a petty good well know combo.. or soy, apple cider vinegar and chilli flakes for a Korean theme, sesame seeds

Good frying then add a touch of water and finish steaming with lid on until the water evaporates :).

  • Which are the best flavours?

    • +7

NOT the chicken one. It has artificial spicy taste (note chilli in bottom right corner of packaging) and a weird bitter aftertaste. I tried multiple times to finish the pack but felt sick after having 3 each time. I had bought 2 packs too, ended up throwing the rest out.

Yes I am a regular spicy food eater…like Sambel Asli stuff, fresh chilli, dried chilli etc. So it wasn't like I couldn't take the spice.

      • -1

The artificial spicy taste probably from coriander which is a herb that looks like parsley but taste different. Coriander has been described taste like soap. I think only the chicken Gyoza contains it.

Woolies and Coles has fresh coriander bunch in herb section, also dried coriander in bottle but it doesn't taste like the fresh ones at all.

        • I love coriander and it does not taste like soap to me. But I have heard before that for some people it does.

        • I know what coriander is and no, coriander does not taste spicy. What I tasted was not coriander.

My personal favourite is the Prawn Gyoza.

    • +1

      +1 for prawn gyoza!

    • Any of the prawn ones for me too (gyoza or hargow)

    • +1

While prawn is better than most, I find their green veggie Gyoza exceptional.

    • +3

      Definitely prawn gyoza!
I have tried pork gyoza and expected it to be as good as prawn but it was damn disappointing.
I also tried their prawn hargow. Not too bad, but not so good either. I like Mr Chen's prawn hargow and find KB's one isn't on par.

    • The pork ones, but they always sell out first…

      • +1

My family and I didn't rate the pork ones much. Much prefer the prawn ones.

    • Prawns

  • -1

given the price stayed constant, the cabbage ingredient must have increased while pork/prawn decreased

    • +2

The prawns are farmed in polluted waters.. logic has it that as there is more polluted waters, there are more prawns to harvest

  • In for hargow and gyoza! (remind myself on Tue)

    • +3

There's a reminder function above the comments section between the tags and related products (next to the 'Report', 'Bookmark', 'Hide' options).

  • While it looks cheep but nobody noticed the weight is redued by 25%?

    • Coles only sells the 750g, whereas Woolworths sells the 1kg (usually works out the same price per kg).

      • I see that's why somehow I feel I got this for $10+ the cheapest from WW.

So, 1 Kg should be around $11.35.

        • +2

Yep was $11.35 when half price (last time being back in 2021).

Hasn't been half-price since, as it was under the 'price-dropped' scheme which prevented it from being half price.

          • @RichardL: agreed 30%-40% were what I haven't seen lately

  • Missed my week 2 shop. RIP to my 10k points xD

    • +3

      Disaster :(

    • +1

That sucks. At least it was week 2 and not week 4.

  • Aldi version tastes better. Esp when pan fried.

    • +1

Prawn Agree. Veggie not even close.

    • +1

The ALDI veg ones taste strange.
These green KB ones much nicer (still expensive at half price though).

    • +4

If you pan fry in a smear oil, then add 20 mls water to finish for last minute or two to keep moist .. 😘 .. !!

      • +1

Then flash fry with soy sauce at the end to give them a nice coating and serve on a bed of turmeric rice!

  • Where are these made?

  • Honestly quality have gone down hill seriously and the ingredients percentage is a scam.

    • -4

A scam is by definition illegal. Have you reported it to police?

    • +1

How is it a scam buddy?
You should treat this kind of stuff as junk food anyway.

    • Unclear… Need a lab report on the contents of these to justify.

  • +2

Been waiting for hargow to go 1/2 price. Thanks. Also gotta remember Coles do rainchecks!

  • +2

The Aldi army must question every other product on the market as usual

  • Which one is the best to eat through the alimentary canal?

    • +3

I’m not familiar with that part of Venice :)

      • Haha 😆 Good one☝️

  • my stupid coles local didn't have these half price :(

    • They probably would have scanned up as half price

      • I checked with them and it looks like Coles local don't always have the same specials that Coles non-local have - not to worry I'll go to a non-local to get some mystery dumplings to try

        • +1

The Coles near us didn’t have the half price sign but it scanned at 1/2 price. Might be worth talking to the staff and showing the catalogue price. They might override for you or explain why they can’t.
