            @MustardKetchup: Fluctuating temperatures and humidity. Probably better to store them in a cupboard that has relatively stable temperatures and low humidity. There are a lot of articles if you do some Googling.

      Depends on your skin type. I have very dry skin and my favourite is the Le Tans facial fluid. Wasted money on about 5 different sunscreens before I found my holy grail. Although the pink cancer council day wear spf50 is an all rounder for all skin types.

    Just be careful of counterfeit products when purchasing that you don't accidentally buy from non-Amazon/3rd party stores. Not sure where they'll source it from but make sure you compare and return if not the same quality.

    I'll be getting it from ChWh this time around to save hassle since price is comparable.

      I got six bottles last time and at least five were fake. Wrong texture and smell of the sunscreen. Label was slightly different.

      Are the ones sold by Amazon even guaranteed to be genuine?

      I thought the issue with Amazon was they pool all stock with the same SKU, regardless of whether it's a 3rd party or "Sold by Amazon"

      So you could be buying something "Sold by Amazon" but what you get sent it a counterfeit that a 3rd party seller sent in.

      That was my understanding, unless things are different now.

          Co-mingling stock is definitely a thing. Maybe they've stopped it for Skincare/Cosmetics but it seems unknown whether they've implemented that in Australia as well.

          I recently bought a few La Roche Possay products from Amazon during Prime Day. Sold and Fulfilled by Amazon. I don't know if they were fake or not - but they made me break out really badly. It wasn't just normal purging either.

              @Save Medicare: First time using LRP. I've used similar products/ingredients from different brands that have been fine. But never LRP.

              So it could be that my skin had a reaction specifically to the LRP products, or could be that I was sent fakes. I have no idea…

              But knowing that there are fakes on Amazon doesn't particularly inspire confidence. I actually just contacted Amazon and they agreed to let me return them, which was an easy process at least.

    I had a sample size of this from the family doctor but I really didn't like the feel of it, it is way too dry and hard to spread out. Suggest to try the Japanese or Korean suncscreen especially the facial ones, they are light and way better to spread out and much more pleasant to wear on your face.

        Beauty of joseon uses good broad spectrum chemical filters (some of the same used in anthelios) but is a lighter formulation. It’s one of the rare Korean sunscreens that’s had it’s UV protection level independently lab certified too.

      they are also way less effective at blocking UV If you’re talking about imported sunscreens - they aren’t properly tested to the same regulations as sunscreens sold here. If you look up consumer tests of a lot of those sunscreens some of them don’t even meet like 50% of the SPF labelled on the bottle. LRP on the other hand is excellent and has one of the highest levels of UVA protection you can buy in a sunscreen.

      I've read that overseas sunscreen are a no go for the Australian sun, and that it would be better to shop locally as it's more regulated as to what they can sell here in terms of ingredients and protection, is that true?

          Several different factors to consider. Same sun but different ozone layer above us. We also have a harsher climate and more extreme UV levels.

          Sunscreen from overseas are not as tightly regulated and tested compared to sunscreen sold here that have registration numbers on the product.

      It’s a trade off for sure - Jap/Kor sunscreens generally sit way better on my face and don’t break me out or cause irritation.

      I do find they are less effective, but for someone like me which sits in an office 8 hours a day, it’ll be just fine for the walk from the carpark to the office. The best sunscreen is the one you’ll consistently wear - I hated wearing some of the Aussie ones because they’d irritate my skin.

      If I’m at the beach - Cancer Council sunscreens for sure.

    There is so much fake stuff from Amazon…even sold by Amazon itself. Supposedly, all the stock gets bundled or co-mingled together regardless of who is selling the stock and they ship it from the pool of same products. Therefore it could be a combination of fake and real - just a lucky dip.

      I don't think Amazon would want to fund the resources required to check where store owners are receiving their stock from.

      Unfortunately, anyone can have a store on Amazon, shipped by Amazon and you have no idea where they're buying that stock from right? I would say most of them are looking to buy it from the cheapest source so unless it directly comes from the companies Amazon page, you have no idea if it's legit or not.

      I assume if there is multiple and multiple complaints about fake product, the risk for that amazon store owner is is that Amazon will hold their funds and also hold their product. So it's not a great idea to sell counterfeit on amazon because they will do those things.

      Try this vs "normal" sunscreen and you can feel the difference. A daily sunscreen is important (well definitely to me) and only good if worn….for me that having something that doesn't feel oily or caked on…..this is great.

      My dad worked on the rails so lots of outdoor exposure and is now having skin cancers cut out to ensure they don't take hold real proper.

      So get whatever you like to wear at the price you want to pay….whether it's from ALDI or some French sounding company….the main thing is to wear something, if you're going to be outside. I've tried a couple of brand and this is by far the best to ensure I'm protected every day.

    These (much) cheaper alternatives are also very reputable and get good reviews from AusSkincare communities :~)

    They stretch for a long time if you’re just getting your face/neck with these, and use a generic 50+ sunscreen for the rest of the body.

      I think I tried the Cancer Council one way back and didn't love it. It might not have been great for my sensitive skin. Can't remember for sure.

    I used to use these a lot when I was younger and whilst I like it, I slather on a lot of spf on my face and this makes my eyes irritated. It’s also tiny, at the price I’d rather buy a korean spf.

    I find the Cancer Council one best value as it just has so much more product, and for AHM users you can get a rebate as well.

        Note that Korean sunscreen has gotten some bad rep recently as it wasn't actually SPF 50 as they claimed.

        That said, I'm using axis y sunscreen ATM ( it's a physical sunscreen) and can attest that it's great (it "hides" your pores as well!). Ymmv

          Note that some sunscreens in the Australian and NZ markets also fail SPF testing. source. Not great, but it happens.

          The Korean Purito sunscreen that famously failed to meet SPF claims was relying on AMA laboratories in the US to test their sunscreens. It turned out that AMA labs was falsifying results, and even Australian brands like Ego Pharmaceuticals and Sukin were caught out.

          Korean sunscreens where Kolmar is the manufacturer should be pretty solid in terms of reliability.

      The first one is if you want the sunscreen not to have a foundation finish - some sunscreens can be used as foundation.

      The last 2 are for different skin types;
      * the first one is for oily skin - so it'll be a little matte or drying,
      * the second one is for dry skin - so it'll be hydrating or extra moisturizer added

    I get a very bad allergic reaction to some sunscreens and I have not yet found what is causing it, anyone else get red and burning spots on the skin where you apply sunscreen specially face?

      I don't but it is a thing.

      There are many different "filters" which are used in sunscreens, so definitely try different brands out.

      I'd also give a mineral sunscreens a go if you haven't already

    For those who are looking for a cheap face sunscreen that is non-greasy and pleasant for everyday use, the Aldi Ombra Daily Defence SPF50+ Face Moisturiser is just a few dollars and may be out in the next month or two, if Aldi follows last year's schedule. This product only comes out once a year and once it's gone, it's gone for the year.

        In using Hamilton at the moment. It's fine but my skin is not mega sensitive. It's only $10 so you can try it and give it to a friend if it doesn't work well for you.

      I tried this since it was recommended on here but I really didn't like it. Was very chalky and stung the eyes very badly for me. Went back to NIVEA Sun UV Face Shine Control SPF 50 which worked a lot better.

        Hmm that's weird, I've never had a chalky tube, it's always quite smooth for me. Eye sting is definitely an issue and differs from person to person. I don't get eye sting from the Aldi one but I did with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion SPF50. Not fun.
