Upvote for the deal, but realistically this is only for the single player portion (6-8hours) - multiplayer has been full of hackers for years (was it de-activated).

But, a great game :) would recommend it

    • +2

A 6-8h campaign is crazy short?

      • +13

games used to be 40 hours long!

But i guess as i grew older, i got less and less time and more and more money. So i was OK with a 6hr game these days.

        • not pure fps genre (with exceptions like open world far cry sort of games)

        • +4

JRPG's would be 40 hours long, but most action games growing up (MD/SNES era onwards) were between 3 - 10 hours in length. It wasn't until what feels like the PS3 era that people started demanding longer games.

I prefer shorter games. I can only dedicate lengthy times on weekends. That's why COD games have always been fun for me for their story mode. Awesome, short'ish action based games, lots of set pieces and I am thoroughly entertained by the time the credits hit.

I have so many unfinished games because I just can't put in 30-50 hours of games. They get too long, too tedious and too boring.

      • +5

it feels short, but its awesome

        • +4

          Giggity

      • +2

50c for every hour, better than $2.5 for 5 mins at TimeZone ??

        • +1

          timezone still exists?

          • +2

@Rod M: What are you talking about? Timezone is still everywhere. In most Westfields and are all pretty popular with the young-ens still

          • @Rod M: Sure does - GMT+11 in particular hosts several arcades

        • $60/10min for my son

          • +2

@J Wang: OzFather of the year award for you !!!

      • About the perfect length for a campaign in my opinion. 6-12hrs is the sweet spot, any longer and it always feels like there is a bunch of padding that was added so people don't complain that "It's too short". I have tried to play Titanfall 2 a bunch of times and just wasn't able to get into it, but the length is not the problem.

      • Last of us and Uncharted probably hit the sweet spot for me at 15-20 hrs.

6-8 hours was acceptable when tied to a multiplayer shooter. Sub $5 is still a deal for 6-8 hour story I think

        • +1

I think LOU and Uncharted are solid lengths, but especially Uncharted, still feel a little stretched to reach the extended length (especially uncharted 4, a lot of "lets go do this, oh, actually this has happened now we need to do this as well". Lost Legacy was the perfect length Uncharted game for me.

    • +5

Would this be playable using a wireless controller from my recliner? I so like shorter games. I'm replaying Half Life 2 and god damn it's long!

      • +3

@Loopholio That's how I played it. Loved every second.

        • Sweet! I'll grab a copy :)

    • +14

https://github.com/R2Northstar/ exists and always multiple aussie servers full.

    • +2

The multiplayer experience can be revived pretty quickly, even in 2023. Lookup Titanfall 2 Northstar, and download the Flightcore installer for a server browser and a community that will still quickly populate servers. Played just a couple of weeks ago: joined an empty server (they were all empty on Northstar in Australia), but within 10 minutes the server was full again.

Recommended deal for one of the best shooter singleplayer campaigns in recent years, with possibility to enjoy multiplayer with very limited modding required.

      • Do we need to buy it on steam to play multilayer?

    • I used to play on PS4 but bought it on Steam when it went on Sale last time for $10 :(

Still good game. One of my all time favourite.

I don't play multiplayer but really enjoy Frontier Defense so pretty much playing FD exclusively.

A bit annoying though as instead of trying to co-operate, players tends to fight over each other for a kill.

Too bad they didn't cater for single player FD - would have like to just play FD by myself.

      Still mostly very enjoyable.

The only titan that I kind of dislike is the Tone - very slow, 3 shots to mark for missiles and then a team mate run in front of you when you fire the missiles or Salvo…, and the shot splash is a bit too small. I find myself shooting at the feet most of the time to get the marks.

      • I'm the opposite, tone was my main in my titanfall multiplayer heyday! The salvo was crushing after you made a few hits on opposing titans

    • On par with or even a bit longer than many first person shooter campaigns.

    • +1

      Northstar mod brings multiplayer back!

    • +1
  • +6

The campaign is awesome in this, well worth it. I bought it at launch, no regrets.

    • +2

Protocol 3 - protect the pilot

    • -8

I wouldn’t call it awesome. It’s no CoD Advanced Warfare.

  • +5

    GET IT

    get it now

    • Got it, Got it just now. Weird Titanfall (1) isn't on steam

Oh nvm, Titanfall (1) was multiplayer with single player as tutorial…pointless then.

      • Oh nvm, Titanfall (1) was multiplayer with single player as tutorial…pointless then.

That's pretty much Titanfall 2 as well lol. The amazing story serves as a really great tutorial to get you used to all the mechanics in MP.

  • Cheers, OP! I bought the game. It's a bargain.

  • +3

Campaign is a bit short, but for the price of less than a cup of long black you have 10h of great fun. No-brainer I say.

  • +7

This title deserves whatever the full price it was going for. At 90% discount, don't even blink. MP was great back in the days, SP still solid as ever. I only wish they would create TF3 because this franchise deserves it.

    • +6

One of the few mech games where the mechs actually feel big and heavy.

I watched the trailer for Armored Core 6 or whatever it is and it looks ridiculous, things that should be 200 tons flitting about like schizophrenic hummingbirds.

      • -1

Yeah I bought armored core 6, and its doesnt feel right at all.

MW2 is still where its at I guess.

      • +1

I thought MechWarrior 5 was pretty good.

      • +1

Hmm. I think I like the idea of a stupid fast mech though.

I say this as a fan of Zone of the Enders (1 and 2), however. In which the mechs are extremely agile.

I may give Armoured Core a go once my brother gives me back my ps5 he borrowed for FF16 :P

        • +1

          stupid fast mech

I know what you mean - it's sort of like when someone realised zombies would be scarier if they could run

      • Don't look at Armored Core 5 or Verdict Day gameplay then :P

      • +3

Need to get back to playing Virtual On in the arcade from the 90s

      • That's the great thing about Armored Core, you actually have variety and a lot more freedom in how you play. You can build and pilot a big heavy AC with large guns, or a smaller light one that focuses on mobility, or even something in the middle.

      • +2

things that should be 200 tons flitting about like schizophrenic hummingbirds.

        Think Gundam.. not Pacific Rim.

    TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTITAHFALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

(profanity) APEX LEGENDS ME AND ALL MY HOMIES HATE APEX (profanity) APEX (profanity) IAP (profanity) BATTLEPASS (profanity) SHITTY SERVERS (profanity) RESPAWN

Titanfall is the best single player FPS made in the last 10 years change my mind.

    • Agreed. Titanfall 1 (OG) though it was quite limited with only online multi player which made sure it died quickly in Australia when released was and is a great drop in and play game. It reminds me of Mech warrior however has the added bonus of being able to exit the titan and plant bombs etc on the enemy.

  • +4

One of the best campaigns I've played for a long time. Every campaign level feels very unique and it has one level in particular which is the most unique and fresh level I've played in an fps.

    • Which level?

      • +1

Effect and cause. Although every level has an entertaining gimmick.

        • +1

It was great. Just played it this morning and yeah, never seen anything like this before.

          • @DevonBlaze: Cheers, thanks for the feedback. That was definitely the highlight, but the whole campaign I thought was excellent. Perfect length, lots of interesting mechanics and settings. Good fun all around.

  • Optimum SD playable?

    • It runs amazing on Steam Deck. Pair it with Gyro aiming and you’ll have a good time

      • Sorry but, what is Gyro aiming?

  • -1

Campaign was pretty good, except the part where they kept trying to humanise the mech AI.
I'm firmly in the group of people who believe that machines that can process incoming speech and output speech of their own should never proactively speak unless previously requested to, and not continue to speak after the request made by the human has been fulfilled.

The AI in this game tries, unprompted, to make conversation with you several times throughout the campaign, but thankfully you can let your response choices time out without actually having to respond.

Aaand yes, I know this makes me first against the wall when Skynet rises 😅

    • +1

It's not just a machine, it's got the soul of your wife

  • Do I need to play the first game to understand this one?

    • +1

There is a training course when you start a new campaign, and the senior tells you a story so no.

    • +1

I didn't play the first and I enjoyed this game.

    • Nope. Never played the first one. I think the first is solely multiplayer?

Not sure if you like multiplayer or co-op.

It has a 4 player co-op mode called Frontier Defense, where you defend your "harvester" from 5 waves of attacks.

Multiplayer is kind like Apex Legends, obviously not as "shinny" but with the ability to call in a Titan. Not sure if it is still plague with hackers though.

  • do people even still play this game?

    • I do. In fact, just bought it last time it went on sale in Steam for $10. (Used to play on PS4 and don't want to pay for PS Plus just to play online)

Been playing FD regularly and enjoying it!

Have to connect to Hong Kong server though - Sydney and Singapore (next lowest ping) servers seem to be pretty empty. Hong Kong is quite active, getting FD sessions quite quickly.

      Not sure about multiplayer.

  • Awesome game.

  • +1

It’s on Xbox game pass ultimate for free if you have that subscription.

  • I already own the base game so I can’t checkout .. does the DLC add much?

    • I think the main additions are the warpaint and the Ion and Scorch Prime - nothing particularly interesting but cheaper than getting the DLCs I suppose.

Have a look at the item descriptions.

  • Steam asking me sign in when purchasing even though I'm already signed in and once I do, gives an error. Any in the know of what's going on?

  • +2

Wish I got around to this while it was active. The mechanics were satisfying but by the time I played it the only ones left in multiplayer were the die hards, so I had a miserable time.

  • +2

I see Titanfall, I click purchase.

Pretty sure I've bought this on all available platforms now lol

  • Even by todays standards the graphics are impressive. $4 is absolute bargain.

  • Finished campaign, it was pretty good! 9/10. Deducted one point for it being too short. More than good value for price paid thru this deal tho.
