Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Aero OC 16G Graphics Card $755 + Shipping ($0 Pick-up/ in-Store) @ Umart & MSY

120

Seems like a decent deal on the cheapest nvidia gpu with more than 12gb of VRAM. If you don't need the VRAM, or cuda, save your money.

For anyone else (all 3 of you), this deal is only $5 more than the cheapest 4060ti 16gb and seems like a higher quality model.

Also available at MSY for the same price.

Edit: price went down by $7

It's funny to see the 4060 Ti have more memory than a 4070 Ti.

    • +2

      Rtx3060 16gb, rtx3070 8gb

      • +7

        3060 12gb you probably meant

  • +16

    Don't do it!

  • +1

If you need this kind of vram better off getting a second hand RTX 3090 for around ~$900

    • +5

a second hand RTX 3090 for around ~$900

      Maybe in USD
Those things are more around $1300 in Aus usually.
Still good $/GB if you can afford it though.

      • +2

        Think he’s talking second hand

        • +2
          • +1

@Lief: They're usually cheaper on fb marketplace.

            • @MA87033: Welcome to secondhand.
You can pay as much as you're willing to risk.

              • @Lief: Well the 3090 is definitely not worth it at that price used but what I mean is eBay is usually more expensive when you consider people sell higher due to fees.

                • +3

@MA87033: And what i mean is i would never buy something like a GPU from facebook marketplace because I can't easily tell it's not broken, or a wish.com scam gpu without leaving the point of sale.
Ebay has 30 day buyer protection and seller feedback. it's less risk, so you pay more.

                  • +1

                    @Lief: Agreed.

                  • @Lief: Oh the buyer protection extends to second hand products from private sellers? I didn't know that.

                  • @Lief: Dealing in person can be ok, I got a 3080 12GB for $600. The seller agreed for me to take my desktop there and stress test it before buying.
Sold my 3070 on the marketplace as well, the buyer didn't bother testing, but it would be fair to ask for it.

                • +1

@MA87033: With eBay you'll also be seeing the ones which have not sold, which are the expensive ones. The cheap ones will already be gone

            • +1

@Wicko: I looked at the listings and that second $900 one and the $600 one have the exact same pictures.
Maybe just the $600 one is the scam but there's definitely some funny business going on there.

              • +1

@Lief: Yeah definitely, but most are legit you just have to suss around.

          • @Lief: Looks like they've increased in price a bit — I guess people have realised that they're among the best value AI cards. They were definitely consistently available for $1k a few months ago. I nearly grabbed a Dell OEM card for $850 buy it now.

        • who shops for second hand gpu's on ebay.

          • @Lolitsjoel: FB/Gumtree seems too scary to risk that much money on a dud

            • @Diji: I usually prefer it since you can inspect and test before handing cash over

              • @Wicko: Yeah I guess it's safer if they let you run some benchmarks and inspect the cooler for corrosion and all that.

  • Noob question. Is it better than 4070 12GB?

    • +9

      No it's about 30% slower.

    • +1

4070 is defo much faster. I got that great deal for 4070 at $888 which came with Diablo4 (worth about $100), have been enjoying the games at 155fps most of the time.

  • +5

How many game will you be able to play and at what resolution to justify having 16gb on a card with this level of performance? This should have 12gb and the 4070 16gb.

Surely it's a Camry with the phattest spoiler. Hodlllll

  • +11

This card is the 4050 Ti to me. Nvidia should have kept the tradition of the GTX 750 Ti and 1050 Ti alive.
But some bonehead in the marketing department (probably just one guy - likely the VP of Marketing or something) decided that if they call this card a 4060 Ti - even though based on the die size and memory bandwidth and number of compute units, its clearly a 4050 Ti - then they'll be able to sell it for $500 and the dumb proles would eat it up.
I hate that attitude. I don't care what you want to price it at - the price will have to adjust to supply and demand anyway in the long run - but I do care about SPEAKING THE TRUTH, and REFRAINING FROM BEING DECEPTIVE.

This whole gen suffers from despicable name inflation.

    "Name" | Actual
    4090 | 4090
    4080 | 4080
    4070 Ti | 4070
    4070 | 4060
    4060 Ti | 4050 Ti
    4060 | 4050

AMD is just as guilty though… the recently released RX 7800 XT is in actual fact just the RX 7800. The 7900 XT is the 7800 XT, and the 7900 XTX is just a 7900XT.

Why have we accepted an age of deception in our society? I blame the deceptions that were perpetrated on the public during the Covid era, among other things…

    • +2

yeah, don't pay/purchase according to their name/model. Aways check few reviews/benchmark beforehand.

    • +2

IMO looking at memory bus 4080 is 4070 and then it goes downhill quickly from there onwards

    • Why have we accepted an age of deception in our society?

People are, on the whole, stupid. e.g., 5G scare, "plandemic" conspiracy, numerous vax conspiracies, flat Earth theory/moon landing conspiracy, UFOs/alien abduction "cover-ups", class warfare in general (capitalists pitting the middle class and lower class against each other while they help themselves to the pockets of both).

It's nothing new, the populace has been fooled by those with more power and more money for ages. The quintessential con man is a prime example of this. "I'm rich and if you give me money I'll tell you how you can be, too!"

I don't think the world has gotten more accepting of deception, it's just more obvious since we're so much more connected now. If we had the Internet during the smallpox pandemic there'd probably have been people posting about how it was an experimental pathogen released to sway the war's outcome in one way or another.

  • So based on the comments what’s the better option “new” for this price if this isn’t worth buying

    • +4

4070(when ~$800) or a 4060ti 8GB(same performance but cheaper) are better value if you're just gaming
AMD's kinda shoddy around this price range right now if you must buy new because they just released the 7800XT and are being ridiculous with its pricing, but if it's anything like the 7900XT it'll improve on the price front eventually.
Also look out for clearence prices on 6800/6800XTs because they're around the 4060ti/4070 performance range and there might still be some significant stock around somewhere to clear and the 7000 series is barely better than their 6000 series counterparts.

      • 7800XT

Hoping we see some good price cuts by next EOFY (or a killer deal on a 4070 pre-built)

  • Does it run Starfield

    • It'll run but not well.
Unless there's been a patch, nvidia performance in that title is incredibly bad.
It'll get about 47fps average at 1080p high according to hardware unboxed.

    • +1

starfield is xbox promo essentially. Xbox Series X is the cheapest way to play it

well, Xbox Series S is the cheapest way to play it, but you'll quickly run out of storage and it won't play in 4k

      • There's DLSS mods already out. I'm not going to say that will fix the issues with performance, but the game runs badly on every card without upscaling. Seems to be a trend now, release a poorly optimised game and rely on upscaling to fix performance.

        • +1

sure they were rushing this one out the door

I think for a lot of advanced titles it's the new business model:
          1. hype it up good!
          2. release it raw, let the early adopters test it for free OMG they even pay top dollar to do that
          3. use the funds from early adopters to polish the game
          4. profit

it is essentially a form of extortion crowd funding.

    • +1

My Radeon RX5700XT runs Starfield surprisingly well, and likely just as well as this 4060ti. You can pickup one of these for $200 or less 2nd hand.

  • Everyone should ignore the 4060ti - both VRAM configurations. It is only marginally better than the 3060ti (sometimes slower…) and $200 more while only offering newer DLSS 3 support.

  • Hold for 5000 series.

    • When is that?

  • +3

Bought a used 3080 10gb on gb marketplace for $550, invoice date Dec 2022, so peaceful not been mined. Much better performance than this

  • Need this 4070 price to comeback - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/793318

    • A 4070 Ti would be good for under 900$.

  • +1

Who is buying this junk ??? For the same price you can get RX 7700xt, which will destroy the 4060ti. For $100 more you can get RX 6800xt or RX 7800xt or RTX 4070.

  • I think people should buy a good quality 3 fan model 12GB RX 6700 XT for around $450-470 and use that and wait for FSR 3 public release. People won't agree with me though.
I think its the best value right now. I paid $625 for mine and it runs every game on High/Ultra at least 80-100+ FPS @ 1440p. It also runs quiet and cool.
To me its the best money can buy for a midrange 1080/1440p Graphics Card right now. The 7700 XT is more expensive and only 5% better / is even worse to the 6700 XT sometimes.
This is just my own opinion though. If Nvidia weren't so expensive and super cut down across the stack, they would be the better thing to buy.
