ive never quite understdood why these types of boxes are so expensive. surely the materials and manufacturing cant be that complex?

I can't tell from the photos, but are the latches held on with rivets? Years ago I bought a storage box like that from Bunnings, with riveted latches… Where the rivets could just be drilled out, making the latch padlock irrelevant.
It's plastic, if they're bringing a drill .. they're being a grinder.
