Guys first post here and I think I have a banger

The Samsung Edu portal seems to have reduced price for the online exclusive colours (so not applicable to the normal colours) across the whole Z range. (Receive 30% off Galaxy Z Fold5 Online Exclusive Colours from 12:00am (AEST) 14 Sept 2023 to 11:59pm (AEST) 24 Sept 2023. Discount will be applied automatically to the cart.)

Plus up-sized $450 trade in bonus (from $300 previously) until 04.10.2023 (according to the website, probably wrong)

The prices are now:
$1819.30 (256GB) - $450 bonus = $1369.30
$1959.30 (512GB) - $450 bonus = $1509.30
$2204.30 (1tb) - $450 bonus = $1754.30

So I was able to trade in my Flip 5 (512GB) to Fold 5 (256GB) for:
$1819.30
- $1190 Flip 5 trade in value
- $450 trade in bonus
= $179.30

The Flip 5 is also starting from $1154.30 (256GB) and $1294.30 (512GB) + 450 trade in bonus $350 trade in bonus

So for you it could be that:
Flip 5 (512GB) $1294 - fold 3 value $520 - $350 bonus = $424 out of pocket
Fold 5 (512GB) 1959 - flip 5 value $1190 - $450 bonus = $318 out of pocket
So total $424 + $318 = $743
So it is a $246 saving by jumping

Only issue is the time delay, may or may not miss out. Imagine if you did this after getting the S23 deal

    Personally, the folded thickness, the back screen width and the issues with the foldable screen is putting me off buying this device.

    Don't see any reason to upgrade anytime soon.

          I guess there's a lot of R&D costs that go into these things. And really no competition at this point. So Samsung are in a unique position they can charge a premium for them. From the perspective of a small tablet and phone at $1400 it doesn't seem too bad. I was looking at the Y700 tablet and those things are heading near around half that without the latest specs or an oled screen etc. The funny thing about the Fold its cheaper in this deal than the Apple pro phone and it isn't even really that much heavier or bulkier but then you get an 7.6 inch screen.

          What turns me off the fold is the aspect ratio, battery life and durability concerns but i suppose those are worthy trade offs for some.

          On second thought, I will try to be polite and pretend that you are genuinely ignorant and asking a real question.

          When folded the phone is nothing but a subpar, thick phone with small screen.

          When unfolded, I use my Fold 4 to read and write emails, attend meetings on Webex, MS Teams, review and approve documents (links directly to work Sharepoint), and many more.

          It's also great for Youtube and Netflix on train. Tiktok also works great because video and comments are displayed at the same time, in case you like that productivity

          The form factor is it can conveniently fold as a phone to place in a pocket.

      Fold generally drops in price each year.
      Sale usually around $1200 - $1500.
      Apple iPhones are $2,000 and rarely drop in price.

    So just to confirm, if you're trying to do this deal from 0 phones (or that $1 earbuds trade in method), the only catch is if you don't manage to get your Flip5 by the time the bonus promo ends in about 2.5 weeks? Looking at the other thread it seems like people are getting their orders pretty quickly. I suppose the other risks are if they suddenly end the promo early due to out of stock etc or adjust the trade-in value of the phones out of the blue. ETA: if your final goal is to get the Fold5 I meant to write. ETA2 just realised that the discount promo ends earlier on next Sunday.

      I had the same issue when I traded in for the flip5 at release. I just put a 0 at the front of the IEMI and left off the final digit, trade in worked without any issue.

    Also on the government store by the way. $1369 for a Fold 5 256GB is excellent value. Come to think of it, i got a S23 Ultra for $830 recently and if I buy the Fold 5 as well for $1369, that is a total of $2199 which is the base price of an iPhone 15 Pro Max!

    You cannot proceed with Trade-in as the Trade-ID is invalid.

      Looks like if the trade-in bonus exceeds the value after taking into account of the device value, Samsung will simply not apply the bonus

      So in your case it is because the final price of 369 is less than the trade-in bonus of 450, they just don't apply it!

      You get charged the $150 when you do the trade up process. If you don't send it in, you get charged the $60 late fee.

    Has anyone had difficulties to verify their account? I received an invitation for the education store in edu.au email account. Upon clicking the provided link, I was directed to the login page. After entering my account and clicking "Next", I always got the same error message: "Couldn't load webpage. The webpage didn’t respond to the request in time. IAMGCSaeucentral1_…" I also tried in private mode, so there should be any caching issues.

      Fold 4 is amazing , its totaly different phone. So fold 5 will be more amazing. However , the front screen is way to narrow for effective use at all. Fold 4/5 will be very useful unfold for lots of new things : driving with big screen loaded with 2 maps side by side , any types of works on the go, stock and forex trading with split screen. Etc
      I sold my boring iphone 13 pro max for folding phone and not going back..

    Used to have the Fold 3. Am using the S23, I'm tempted now to go on this deal but not sure if the extra $600-$800 is worth it for me (My EPP only has $300 trade in bonus)

    The slightly bigger front screen and more importantly the slimmer design and better battery life from SD8G2 does seems appealing.

    I have a 2in1 laptop that I take with me everywhere now for Lightroom, Photoshop, Excel, etc productivity. For entertainment TikTok, Instagram, even Genshin impact and lots of other apps were not really better on the Fold due to the aspect ratio…not sure if any of that is fixed now. That's the main thing, then I'd consider spending an extra $600 for it
