700

Similar to the tax time deal for the tradie brands, this now applies only to the 6.0Ah twin pack.

I think it's the first time this promos ever been run for Ryobi batteries, and since there's rarely ever discounts on them, night be worth it for some people.

So you’re getting $50 off and helping to save a gorilla in the Conga, and you think that’s not a bargain?

      • -1

I mean, I donate pure cash to WWF each month to save the gorillas mate.

Batteries are normally better picked up in combo deals, but each to their own I guess

        • +10

I'm sure Hulk Hogan appreciates your pure cash donation.

      • +9

        Harambe is proud of you.

    • +3

I'd bet they're not 'reusing the parts' of my 20+yo NICD battery.

    • +3

If I can get money for my dead cooked battery, they can have it.
I literally have a pile of Dewalt Ni-Cd batteries and I can all but guarantee that they're not going to be using any parts from them.
The only reason I still have them is for deals like this

      • -1

It's not money though. It's a 17.4% discount off RRP

        • +3

Money was a figure of speech. Regardless, it's still more than I'd get for them instead of just dumping them into a recycling centre

  • +4

6ah twin pack is $289, for the curious. Never see them on sale, so good deal.

I’ve got a dead 1.5ah floating around so feels like I should go for this, but I struggle to burn through a 4ah even on the blower vac which chews through batteries.

    • +7

4Ah is kinda my sweet spot in terms of power & weight/bulkiness. I’ll never use 6Ah to its full capacity so Ill have to pass on this one

      • I can’t feel much weight difference between 4ah and 6ah 😂
I only use 6ah for mower, nothing else.

        • +6

Try holding it on a impact driver or drill for a while, sometimes its bulky and gets in the way

          • +3

@bheart: I made an extension cord for my batteries.
Used some 10awg wire, and 3D printed the Ryobi fittings.

It's only about 2M long (not far enough to matter with a 10awg wire), but it lets me keep the battery off of the tool for situations like that :D

The prints are annoyingly big (time consuming, even at 0.3mm) though; if I were to do it again, I'd look on gumtree for a broken slow charger, and dead battery and canabalise the parts.

            • @MasterScythe: Thats so cool. Do you have a youtube channel to show your work? Lots would be interested in at least watch you do it

            • @MasterScythe: I also wanted to do that. But without a 3d printer my options were salvaging the parts off a charger and a (dead) battery - too expensive to buy off the shelf.

            • @MasterScythe: Once you go down this path, might as well use a corded drill..

      • +1

its good for the dual battery brushless mower.

    • +3

Haha my thoughts exactly. Got a 1.5ah that I basically never use. It feels like a good deal to get the discount but then I'll have two additional 6ah that I won't use.

    • A slight boost in performance too with the High Performance batteries. I've got these the 4ah and some 1.5s and there is a difference in the blower and drills power

    • How do you like the blower vac? Am in the market for one

      • It’s pretty average. Fine for light work like a garage or deck if you are too lazy to sweep, but it’s not great at being a blower or a vac tbh.

    • +2

Get the lawn mower. Guaranteed to chew through 6 of these for our lawn (2x 18V at a time)

    • What's so good about these batteries that they are so expensive? Swear I saw an Ozito drill that comes with a battery for like a quarter this price.

      • The included batteries are often 1.5ah which can't handle anything with a lot of load. Like drilling larger holes etc

  • Are you able to trade in two batteries and get $100 off?

Just checked a previous link and looks like you can't: https://trade.bunnings.com.au/advice/innovative-products/trade-in-any-18v-battery-for-$50-off

Only one trade in can be applied per twin pack battery purchase. (This means you can’t stack discounts on one twin battery pack.) However, you’ll be able to get discounts on multiple twin packs – one per battery that you trade in. For example, if you want to purchase three Makita twin packs and get $50 off each pack, all you’ll need to do is trade in three old 18V power tool batteries.

    • +3

nope no multiples and only the Ryobi -
Only one Redemption Offer can be redeemed per transaction. For example, an Eligible Claimant cannot redeem more than one $50 discount for the purchase of one (1) Qualifying Product.

The Redemption Offer is eligible with the purchase of item number 0344373 -BATTERY POWER TOOL RYOBI 18V 6.0AH TWIN PACK RB186060X (Qualifying Product).

    • Trade in 2 and get 4 newies for $478

  • +3

Seems like you can bring in any 18V battery.

I have a dead one that I was about to throw away, but don't really need the 6.0ah ones…

    • +2

If you're game, you can look up videos how to replace the cells in a ryobi battery. Or salvage the cells if they're alright

      • Had a look, they’re soldered on…

        • +2

Yep… Need to be somewhat comfortable with soldering and desoldering. Hence the "if you're game"

  • +7

    which would be better value, 2 x 6ah for $239 after trade in, or 4 x 5ah for $349

    • +1

Yep, I'd rather get $50 off the 4-pack… Will skip this deal…

      • +1

thought the 4 pack also is better value, not sure if it's elegible for the $50 off

        • +1

not sure if it's elegible for the $50 off

          It's not.

    • Thats an amazing deal. Wish if anyone wants to share 2 in sydney south west.

    • These would be better value unless you specifically need the HP batteries

  • I got some knock off 9aH ones on ebay and seem to be alright, manage to line trim front yard, quickly touch up the shrubs along the fence line then use the blower to clean up the trimmings. For some reason they never seem to reach full charge on the original ryobi charger though. This deal got me half considering trading in my stuffed 2ah and 4ah ryobis and giving the authentic 6ah ones a go…

    • +1

i got knock off ones from ebay.

they certainly do not perform no where near as good as the genuine batteries, i watched some reviews where they said they were almost on par.. which is correct except for tools that need extra juice.

eg/ i got 2 x 8AH ebay knocks offs for my ryobi scarifier. It would last about 10mins on full charge (it uses 2 batteries at once).

Compared to my 2 x 4AH, which provides the scarify more power (you can hear it rev/spin harder) and it lasts for atleast 20mins.

I think for powertools that don't require as much juice (whipper snipper, trimmers, edgers, scrubbers, torch), the ebay knock offs are ok.. but for mower, scarifiyer, blowers i think genuine battery is the way to go. There is definite more power being delivered to the tools with the genuine ones.

I am on the hunt now for genuine ones for next lawn season. The $50 credit which makes it $239 isn't attractive enough deal considering u can get genuine ryobi battery twin packs for less than that on ebay.

      • -3

If a "gardener" aka cowboy ever rocked up to my place with Ryobi he would be shown the door.

    • When/if my batteries die I'd buy cells and replace myself since that's the best way to be sure that the cells are good compared to the knockoffs.

  • +1

It won't let me post, but same thing is $199 on Ebay ($189 with Ebay plus)

  • +2

I've got a dead 1.5AH battery. I'm not in the market for new batteries, so how would I give it to someone who might be interested in this deal?

  • Excellent, I have a 1.5Ah one on its way out and a $100 gift card for bunnings.

I know what I'm doing tomorrow

  • +4

For those that don’t know. If your battery is dead, it can sometimes be brought back to life.

This is dewalt but same process
    https://youtu.be/XklpbyQIeFA?si=ZucPSRGaz4KVR_uU

Note that all batteries need a tiny little bit of charge for the wall plug to recognise it. Why the above method works

    • Cheers will this work for makita?
Also where do I get those red/black awg from?

    • There's another hack that sometimes work when the battery charger gives an error light after battery is placed in charger.

Leave battery in the cradle(fully engaged).
Have wall plate switched turned on.
Remove and replace wall plug from wall plate socket a few times(quickly) so you are creating a rapid connection.
"Sometimes' that zap is enough to reboot batteries producing the 'dead' error. Worked for me with pre lithium Ryobi, so 'might work' for lithium & possibly multiple brands, with same symptoms.

  • Why is it so hard to find genuine Ryobi batteries online

    • +2

Bunnings are the exclusive distributors. Anything you get elsewhere is a grey import (or fake).

  • Has anybody seen any deal for Ryobi 32v batteries?
It feels as if they never ever have deal for 32v anything.

    • +2

Are you sure Ryobi has 32V batteries? Did you buy it from the seller that selling Chonel bag / Rolek watch / Guccy shoes? :P

      • +2

Bargained to hard and they can ONLY do one for 4v less…

        I meant 36v :D

    • 36V. Try the Ryobi site direct. Or sign up for an account & maybe you'll get a notification

      https://www.ryobi.com.au/garden-tools/products/list/category…

  • 1400.00 grams? A bit on the heavy side. Hope the 5Ah goes on special

  • Edit: Just nabbed this 2pk from ebay, legit, $219 ($25 eBay discount code & free shipping - $2-$4 cashback + $3 & $5 for store challenges) $182 delivered when all said and done. I'm pleased with that purchase!

Discount off anything Ryobi, is always a rare blessing.

Remember, 6.0Ah batteries are (High Performance), giving boost to a large range of named HP tools, but also increased performance of regular products

eg.) . On my 165mm drop saw, with a 5.0Ah I can cut through a particular size of pine - try the same dimensions with merbau and it chokes to a halt 3/4 through. But if I plug a 6.0 or 9.0 HP battery, it will carve up the merbau over and over again.
For those unaware, merbau is a hardwood whereas pine is much softer.

Also definitely boosts my Ryobi stick vac, but I would not recommend it to anyone. For a construction tool brand the vac sure gets clogged up with just about anything, because the wastebin entry port must have been an after thought!

  • I've just bought the 4-pack of 5ah Ryobi batteries for $349. Anyone want 2 of them (cost price)? Located Melbourne West, could potentially do CBD also.
