Not a real battery tester, no dummy load, it just monitors OBDII battery voltage.

    Still not bad.

    • yeah that's a shame, had looked at similar before but you can go to any of the supercheaps / repcos etc & they'll do a proper battery test for free

  • UDIAG CR600 OBD2 is a $16.03 as of lightning deal.

    • Can you add more information, where is that price from?

    • Any big difference between the two apart from the fancy screen on the 800 ?

  • does this work with Australian sold cars like nissan etc etc

    • Yes

    • majority of cars made since 1996 should support obd2 since it became a standard

      • +1

        since it became a standard

        Maybe

        • it does help when a standard in enforced by legislation tbf

      • +1

        Unless they're Japanese.
Then They'll be JOBD, even the Australian Delivered models in some cases.
Daihatsu and Honda are two that spring to mind. Oh and Subaru up until the Hawkeye Impreza.
Suzuki and Toyota are OBDII, unsure about Nissan.

The actual reporting protocol is 1:1, but the 'protocol identify' step at the start of the scan is different, so lots of tools will say no, even though they COULD display it.
        Just an ID mismatch.

There's a reason I own muiltple scan tools imported from different locations :p

No. Doesn't even work with all Australian built cars.

OBDII or EOBD which is the same thing didn’t become compulsory in Australia until 2006, the reference to 1996 is for the US domestic market.

A generic OBDII scan tool like this will allow you to read and clear fault codes, as well as view the output of most engine sensors and check the emissions monitoring system. It won’t give you access to the entire vehicle’s system. You need a much more expensive scan tool that has been specifically designed to communicate with your vehicle’s other systems.

    • Do you know what brands do?
      Eg Ive got the Isuzu
      Dmax 3.0td 4jj1 engine

I use a Bluetooth OBD plug and the Torque App, will do the same in a simple package. Easy to keep it plugged in all the time if you want.

    • Any chance of a recommendation of a cheap OBD plug ? Thank you.

      • +1

        Any off AliExpress work wonders.
        "Obd 2 scanner wifi/Bluetooth"

  • anyone know of a cheap tool similar to a Forscan that will allow me to get into the audio menus of my Ranger? Not real familiar with these things. Thanks heaps

    • Is there something you can’t access from the audio system settings menu that can only be changed using a Ford Ranger capable scan tool?

      • apparently so! Got a sub 'installed' by Autobarn who connected it up to my stock system. They then told me they needed Forscan to turn off the active noise cancelling system in the back end of the stereo so the engine noise doesn't come through the sub, and this could only be done using a Forscan tool. Can't find anyone locally who does that living regionally.

  • Just buy any elm323 Bluetooth adaptor for about $3 delivered or less. They do the same job and more via your mobile or tablet. Some are even compatible with Carista (or maybe it was OBDeleven can't remember) to reprogram functions on your VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat/Cupra. I added GTI dial sweep on startup, cornering fog lamp illumination, auto lock upon driving, reverse dipping passenger side mirror on my Audi A1. Had to pay for programming credits but it was about $10 from memory.

    • What app do you recommend to use with the Elm adaptor?

      • I've used Torque in the past

  • Can we program injectors from those scanners and DPF regeneration?

    • +1

Generic OBD2 scan tools do not have the functionality to be able to input replacement injector codes or initiate a DPF regeneration cycle. That not what they are designed to be used for, which is primarily for engine fault diagnosis.

There are scan tools with OBD2 functionality that have advance capabilities like the ones you mentioned but not at this price point.

  • Any one can recommand something cheaper for Mazda 3 2010 MRZCD 2.2? DPF regen required
