Google Pixel 7 128GB $649, Pixel 7 Pro 128GB $845 Delivered @ Google Store

691

Just got an email with discounts on Pixel 7, presumably to clear room for the 8s. Code says it only works for normal 7, but seems to give a slight discount off pro as well. Pretty low other than anything studentbeans?

  • How long will a pixel 7 battery last with modest use throughout the day? I have a Motorola pro 30 and it's flat by 5pm and need something better

    • +2

I've had a Pixel 7 since launch and regularly end the day with over 60% battery, with quite a bit of use through the day. Absolutely recommend the 7, the camera has been hugely impressive too.

      • +8

This is very opposite to my use. My pixel 7 had worse daily battery life than a 2 year old pixel 5 that I replaced with it. I am probably more around moderate use than modest though.

It's probably one of my biggest complaints about it. Fingerprint sensor being the other.

        Otherwise it's a great phone.

        • +2

My experience with battery and fingerprint is the same as well.

        • +1

Exact same. I've kept my old Poco F3 as my work phone and the only thing the Pixel feels like it has that's superior is the camera.

          Battery life is notably worse.

          • @pauly85: I use grapheneos on my pixel7pro and I find the batterylife amazing, must be all the google tracking stuff that eats the battery. I also have 3 broken pocof3 at home that all decided to stop working for one reason or another. So I am the polar opposite situation. Love the pixel and hate the poco.

            • @denserham: Interesting.
I'm actually using CalyxOS which could be a factor, but feedback online is that the battery should be good with Calyx.

Maybe I just got a slightly worse battery.
It's not terrible but I was expecting it to outlast my Poco and I'd sat it lasts maybe 3 quarters as long.

      • +1

Yeah I have a Pixel 7 Pro and the battery has been great, huge step-up from the previous Pixels I've owned. Battery seems to be one thing that experiences vary from person to person though, it sounds like if you're away from Wi-fi a lot it struggles a bit more for whatever reason.

        • I've found that sometimes if 5G reception is just the right level of not quite good enough, it uses a lot of battery to try and stay connected, rather than dropping back to 4G.

Setting 4G as preferred fixes the issue.

    • +2

If it's in a cold room where it can't be weird and overheat and def on Wifi? AGES.

If it's in normal use and not on Wifi? About 17 minutes.

    • +3

I've been using my Pixel 7 Pro for the past year and the battery has been below average. Most times I can't get through the day.

HOWEVER, something that pretty much I've seen no one talks about is how good battery saver mode is. WIth battery saver on, my phone can easily last 2 days of usage. Which is insane.

    • +3

P7Pro user. Battery will not last the whole day for a heavy user like me. Have to charge it in the afternoon.
Phone also gets very hot in sun, especially when driving and using for Car navigation. Fingerprint reader has been almost perfect for me, much faster than on P6 Pro.
Apart from above, phone has been great. If you can get a massive discount for it, then buy it, you won't regret it.

    • I have the 7 Pro and nearly always have to charge at some point through the day. Have been really disappointed with the battery life. Currently on 60% after having it charging in the car for around 60-90 minutes.

      • Need a pd car charger

        • It's just plugged into the car for Android Auto. It does charge it over time, but it's not really speedy. Working from home during the day and it'll often get down to 20% and below and need a fast charge.

    • +1

My 7 Pro easily lasts a day (with some battery to spare) and I'm listening to Spotify about 6 to 8 hours, youtube on the train to work and home (an hour each way) and browsing/emails every hour or so.

I don't use battery saver mode, and the screen res and Hz is set to the max.

and re fingerprint issues (from other comments), I have had none, it unlocks 1st time, every time.

    • If you want good battery life, get a phone with a 6000mAh battery, like an ASUS ROG phone.

And don't leave your phone charging overnight, to preserve battery capacity. Once it is finished charging, unplug it.

    • Off charger at 6am this morning, mines at 29% now at 8:20pm - I watched a lot of Instagram videos this morning on the way to work which accounts for the lower than usual battery level I have today.

Pixel boys will tell you it lasts 4 days, dont believe them. Even the pro is trash

      • Too many reports of heat and battery issues from the Pixel community. Too many to just be haters.

        • Too many reports of heat and battery issues from the Pixel community. Too many to just be haters.

The only people that complain online are the people with issues. The sample set is way too biased to be a useful metric.

Google anything and you will find people complaining about it.

    • I have the 7a and the battery life is a bit impractical if you're not near a power point.

Oh man just price matched lavatech at JB yesterday for $699. Any chance of getting a $50 refund?

    • +4

A coupon discount doesn't qualify for a pricematah either way as it's not public.

    • Price match by chat or instore ?

  • +4

Normal phone prices…so good..unlike another brand

    • +1

This. Brilliant value when compared with the two main brands especially.

  • man, how do i get these targeted offers (inb4 'be targeted')

    • sign up for their emails

  • +4

Pixel 8 is around the corner, i expect to drop more

    • +7

But then pixel 9 will be coming and you'll never have a phone.

  • this is cheaper then the 1TB iPhone 15 pro max i just purchased. maybe i will get this as my side phone

    • +1

      Username checks out

    • +6

Don't be a silly Goose, the iPhone would be your side phone…

      • true, i will give them both a fare shake and decide later.

    • No

    • That was the Pixel 6a?

  • +2

It's still cheaper via JB trade in deal, they are giving $300 discount for a trade it + the phone you are trading in if it's an older phone, you could still get $50 or so for it.

Unless you are in the Google Eco system and have 2t storage which results in 10% credit back into your account and you can use the unidays discount.

Hmm Pixel 7 or stick with S20 FE?

    • How about 7a?

    • +2

I'm sticking to my S20 FE as the battery life is still ok plus having SD card slot is a huge plus for me. My partner got the Pixel 7 but there are some quirks that will drive me insane. For example, you can't remove the google search bar at the bottom and the "At a glance" at the top which takes out a lot of screen real estate. There's also an issue at the moment where the calendar widget's font is super huge which makes the widget pretty useless.

      • +1

Using a different launcher (Nova, Lawnchair etc) should sort that stuff out?

      • +1

these two quirks are super bad, some yt videos suggest using another launcher but that defeats the purpose of having vanilla android.

        • +1

That's the whole point of going Android, you aren't locked into that walled garden (Apple) and can choose what you want.

        • I agree I would not want that search bar, but I want the pure google experience which includes the pixel launcher.

    • Here we go again…

    • Why are iPhone owners so insecure?

      • +2

Constantly trying to rationalise the ridiculous purchase price?

  • No Pixel Buds Pro sale, I wonder if they'll ever drop to $150 again..

    • FWIW, can get the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC for $135 from their website plus signup of $15 off, which are rated slightly better than the Pixel buds.

      • Thanks mate but I had the pixel buds pro and I really liked them, they were super compatible with my Pixel phone and also I know the noise cancellation and microphone work well for my working environment. Appreciated the recommendation though 👍

  • How do you get emails? Where do I sign up? Ty

  • 7 pro owner here. Battery life is fine and better than the iPhones other members of my family have. Not as good as it was with my old Redmi note 10 Pro though which had superb battery life.

Fingerprint reader has been fine for me also. Fantastic phone at this price.

    • +2

Nice, I have the standard 7,
      - both the battery life and fingerprint reader are bad, considerably worse than my 6 pro.

  • +1

    Weird. I get offered the 7a for 649 (save 100), the 7 for 999, and the 7 Pro for 899 (save 400).
    So YMMV.

    • +1

That just sounds like the non-targeted prices with their current sale.

  • Assuming similar prices, which is the better choice between the P7 and P7a?

Still happy with my 4a but its battery life is not what it used to be.

  • +1

Still $649 after $499 and $599 sale few months ago ? Wow ..

  • Battery not great and charging speeds are slow compared to many Androids.
    Apart from that good phone

  • +1

BRING BACK GOOGLE PIXEL 5 .

  • Officeworks sells Pixel 7 Pro for $887. And if you use Ultimate gift card (currently available for purchase at 15% off) it will cost you $754.
You can also get it even cheaper from JB HiFi if you use trade-in $300 voucher + Ultimate Gift card (15% off).

  • This is pretty much same as previous discounted store price, they're just trying various strategies to clear out stock before Pixel 8. When I read the title of this post I almost thought the store discount is back and I could combine my target discount code with it lol
