Last time I was offered this, I worked out the value (eg. buying giftcards) would be 25% when compared to keeping the points with ANZ rewards (ie. I could buy $400 of giftcards with X amount of points, converted to Velocity with the bonus only got me around $100) :-(

  • No offence to OP

and they are really slow when sending out gift cards and their supplier sucks. I oerderd a $100 officeworks giftcard and waited the full 14 working days in vein and only until I called they I was told they run out of stock ??? They don't care to give you a courtesy call to check if you are happy to keep waiting or change to something else.

At this 15% jack-up, no deal for me.

It's actually a good deal, if you want the Frequent Flyer miles with Virgin. If you are after giftcards then this isn't for you. But if you have points elsewhere that can be transferred then you won't get a better deal than 15% bonus. Velocity is one of the best reward programs around for flying, if you do the research.

  • This is the second time this year they've offered a 15% bonus.
October last year they offered 20%.

citibank not on their list. I remember I contact both Velocity and Citi Bank. No deal for me again.

  • Cant these Virgin points be transferred on to Singapore Airlines 1 for 1?

15% bonus is a good deal but make sure it is right for you based on your redemption preferences. I previously transferred Amex points to Velocity with 25% bonus and now regret not being able to redeem for other airline points through Amex's sweet convertion ratios (eg. 1:1 for Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines). Less points are required when redeeming for SIA seats on Krisflyer program than on Velocity Rewards program. 15% is insufficient to cover the shortfall. Definitely a deal for Virgin Australia frequent flyers nonetheless.
