Can you run Android apps on it, widgets?

  • $50 off coupon was there, but when I added to cart it is gone and now is longer longer on the item page

  • No more $50 off coupon :(

  • We have a home server that has all our photos and videos on it of the kids. What I eventually want to set up is smart frames that pull random photos or videos from the server and display them on the frame.

I dont want to setup a monitor attach to an OS as there is a potential point of failure there. I just want something whose dedicated job is to pull media from the server and display it.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    • Google home does that (but you will need to host photos in google photo)

as far as 'point of failure' … you are not running critical photography infrastructure, you be fine :)))))))

      • Thanks, we are trying to keep our photos out of the cloud.

    • We have Google Photos and Google Home Hub and they show the pictures from Google Photos on the screen, it is straightforward to setup. It might not be exactly what you are after, but it works great.

  • Damn, store people must be peeking OzBargain.
$50 was there before which made this decent deal.

Recently bought an Aura frame for my parents. They live overseas, so i set it up for them here and then when they came to visit, gave it to them. I can add photos via an app.

    • Good idea. Thank you.

  • I think they re-enabled the $50 off after midnight 🤭
Deal is back if anyone want it

  • Thanks just got one

  • I believe digital photo frames have been discontinued for a couple of years now. Consider using a tablet as an alternative, mounted on the wall.

    • An advantage of using a tablet is it doesn't need to stay plugged in. I'm not so sure about mounting it on a wall, though. Wouldn't it be awkward to recharge?
