  • hmm, now i don't know heaps about ram, i do know that the lower the CL number, typically the "better" (with the caveat that your clock speed is high enough… as in low MHz with low CL is not as good as medium CL and high MHz or something along the lines).

would this be better than a 5600MHz CL36 that isn't a B-die? (likely A?) or is this better cos you can adjust the timings and achieve a better OC?

    • there's a good Reddit on comparing different mhz cl combinations as far as I remember, but there's also compatibility (chipset, CPU, even motherboard model and revision) to facilitate overclocking and stability

it's a rabbit hole really, and the wealth of information won't fit within an ozb comment

    • Think hardware unboxed did a video about it. Probably not worth the upgrade at least for am5

This is 5600 CL40 and SpecTek B-die (inferior batch of Micron die). That's why it has CL40-40-40-77. The slightly inferior sub-timing for CL40 gives this kit a bit more leeway. It is one of the slowest, if not the slowest DDR5-5600 CL40 kit.

If your 5600MHz CL36 RAM modules working fine, then those are likely better. I would not expect SpecTek B-die to overclock well, especially it already have inferior sub-timing set by default.
