Great deal, just a friendly reminder Black Friday is only seven weeks away.

    • Friday the 13th is just over a week away…

      • That’s fair, I meant the Black Friday sales event amaysim has been part of the past couple years.

        • yeah not sure if i get now or wait

        • But Amaysim removes the 60GB annual pack? So the $60 deal is gone now.

          • @hawkeye93: True, the cheapest is now $170, so half price would be $85. Never gonna assume CR is off the table tho. If it’s not good, you can always simslut for a few months and wait for one of these deal to come back anyway. For me the option is worth more — a soft gamble.

    • Since both the $119 and $149 are no longer available on the amaysim website, there won't be any BF deals on these two packs though?

      • You are correct if they don’t change anything then. The real difference is these packs include international calls, whereas Black Friday ones might not. I have faith it will work in my favour 😇

      • +1

these packs were never sold on the amaysim website. They're exclusive to Woolworths. Amaysim used to have a $120 60GB plan without international inclusions on the site but inflation said hello.

    • What was the deal last black friday? Can't find it on ozb search.

      • Probably $60 a year or something like that for the base plan without international calls. Don’t remember much of it, just the rule ‘always buy during this sale’.

        • Those were the ones with Cashback right? If i remember correctly one must activate within 30 days

          • @dingdong3000: Don’t remember if there was any cashback from last year, but maybe a year before that, with cash back I think it was around $30. The activation was more so because the deal comes back in exactly a year so it makes sense to activate it asap.

  • My Boost 12m plan ends in Dec. It doesn’t look like Boost gets much love here anymore? Perhaps because you can’t use deals to recharge?

Is this a good alternative of what is everyone’s preferred provider now? Or do you port away then back to boost?

    I don’t need 5g.

    • +2

Boost prices got a lot more expensive 2021.

    • +1

Switch carrier, rinse n repeat !

    • Depends on coverage where you are … Boost is Telstra, Amaysim is Optus.

  • Does it include 5g or not?

  • So I can buy and recharge my current Amaysim number?

    • These are for new connections/customers, not a recharge. You will need to port out and then port in.

      • And doing that with these guys is a massive PITA - have to use a new email address and so on (even after the out/in port), and support was no help at all.

    • try a chat and see what they say. I am going to do this next week before my husband's 120GB plan expires

      • how did you go?

        • he got 25% off his plan if he renewed

  • mobile hotspot gives me very slow speeds, is this expected?

  • Do we know if the amaysim 60/120 gb have data rollover. ?

The bigger gb’s seem to do, cannot see on these

    • +2

      all plans have unlimited banking

      • I'm assuming this will only work if there is still some data left? My son has no data left and cannot get online with his banking app.

        • yes e.g. at the end of 12 months, you have 5GB left, you begin the next year with 65GB total. If you want working mobile data after all data has been used, try Dodo who have speeds slowed to 1Mbps when you go over included data

  • What network?

  • +1

    Thanks for sharing

  • 10% monthly off for Woolworths insurance

    • +1

      What? How?

      • If you have Woolworths car or home insurance, you get 10% off once a month while shopping at Woolies.

        • I believe monthly 10% off excludes for mobile recharge and Woolworths Mobile.

          • @thsydney: Oh is it…I did not know…but this deal isn't recharge ..it's amaysim starter pack

            • @pyramid: Can confirm monthly 10% off works with these starter packs. Just got one today.

  • Does anyone know if I can activate these as an eSIM?

  • Can you buy this very cheap 1 year plan as your main number, and then buy those free nonstop boost 28 day starter pack for data?

    • +1

Yes. Just register this as an eSim and use Boost SIM for data (they don't offer eSims).

      • How do you register as eSim ?
        Thanks

        • During activation it asks your preference either via using app or online.

  • didn't we do this last wk?

    • discount applies since this Wednesday and in store only

  • My Lebara long term plan expires on 22nd Nov and I would love to jump to Amaysim.
I can't find the 60GB long term plan on their web site. Does anyone have a link to the CIS?
I can't find how long we have to activate these long term Amaysim plans. Can anyone tell me this to save me a trip to Woolies to check the SIM packaging?

  • Can u port from Optus to this?

    • yes they're different providers

      • Have you tested this i.e. as Amaysim use Optus network so are the same carrier? Just like Boost uses Telstra's and with those are not possible.

  • How reliable would it be to get the cheapest plan as an esim and use boost for data? Or is it safer to get the 120gb?

  • Do amaysim provide number share (eg for smartwatches)?

  • I suppose you can purchase with eGift Cards?

  • Can this receive SMS while overseas without purchasing additional roaming packages?

    • It became standard for all providers to allow free receiving of SMS while overseas a couple of years ago

      • Not with Telstra prepaid

        • Just read they disabled that this year for pre-paid, what a bunch of crooks. At least my woolies one would still work: As International Roaming is automatically turned on, you can receive SMS without having an International Roaming add-on if you are in an eligible country.

          • @FeZZa21: Yeah. Technically, it’s still available with the more expensive monthly prepaid but long expiry has been cut. I imagine many ppl overseas on this plan were left stranded :(

            • @supperman: I think they want people to buy the roaming package to make it all work

  • +2

    Activate by?

    • +1

same questions here…would there be a cut off date for activation?

      • 12 months after purchase

        • 12 Months, how do you know this (as a matter of interest)?

I was told 90 days by CS however I don't think they really know either. The packaging doesn't mention anything about expiry or time to activate after purchase.

          • @Borg: On the packaging it says “Activate SIM within 12 months of purchase”

            • @gunso: Nope, not on the one I have in my hand as I type this. The one I have is with "International" Calls included. Is that what you have?

              • +1

@Borg: Yes, I purchase the one with outer sleeve. The inner package on the back above the barcode states it.

                • @gunso: Oops you are absolutely correct. I looked high and low and didn't spot it. Thanks for pointing to the location. rules me out as every becoming a proof reader :-).
12 months is very handy indeed.

                  • @Borg: I'm tempted to get one myself if it takes 12 months before expiry.

My Kogan mobile S prepaid plan expires in under 11.5 months and I could do with keeping to just one mobile number that covers my local call/sms/data and international roaming needs.

I'll probably still keep my Mrs on Boost though… she didn't like the reception on Kogan so I'll get yelled at if the Optus network fails her. Besides, Amaysim's maximum data quota of 200Gb is cutting it a bit tight for her and Boost's roaming isn't too bad at $40 for 5Gb and 60min calls/60 SMS with 14 day expiry. She'll just need to get two 14 day roaming packs.

  • Does anyone know if you can add Data Roaming Packs to these starter packs? The T&C's are ambiguous and I think it says you can't.

    • In the App, I can add Roaming packs so I would say yes. They are not cheap but are valid for 365days

  • Silly question…

Dad's on Coles Mobile on his main phone. If I buy the 60Gb/yr starter kit, and port him to Amaysim, can I keep him on auto renew so he's only paying $119/yr for the 60Gb indefinitely but not get moved to the more expensive $170 plan?

Because we'd like to get access to Amaysim's roaming on his main phone but he uses 2Gb or less of mobile data per year so the $170 plan is overpaying for his needs

  • Another question… mum is on Amaysim As You Go atm but we don't have to keep her mobile number. As she's already an Amaysim customer, can we start up a second number on her account using this starter kit and let her existing number expire?

    • +1

      yes

      • Sweet!

I'll touch base with mum and dad before mum's AYG credit expires next year and see if they want to just switch her back to an annual plan so she doesn't have to remember to top up the credit each year.

Hopefully Amaysim don't phase out these starter kits.

        • does she need the data? If not, existing customers can get a 365 day plan that is $60 per year just for unlimited calls and text.

          • @shxhshzhz: Cheers for the heads up… I didn't know about this option since it didn't show for prior to us signing mum up.

She can probably live with no mobile data. She has mobile data turned off atm to prevent any accidental use of her AYG credit.

If given the choice, she'd prefer getting data over unlimited calls/text.

But $60/yr so she can just set it to auto renew is pretty affordable. Not to mention having unlimited calls is good in case there's an emergency and home NBN is down too. At 12c/min, her AYG credit won't last long if she needs to make a longer call.

            • @Mugsy: especially on some customer service phone line

              • @shxhshzhz: Agree.

Mum let her old Coles mobile expire as she was traveling in Vietnam on the expiry date and she only uses Whatsapp. She didn't realise that Whatsapp is linked to her mobile number for security verification. She also doesn't think about contingencies with essential services like telephony.

Anyway, I got her on Amaysim AYG as a cheap option to get her a phone number to relink Whatsapp to and so she can access Amaysim's roaming plans for their upcoming trip to China.

She may find sitting at the airport lounge with no mobile data isn't fun and want a plan with data again. Or she may not. My parents are quite old school and do everything through trial and error (I prefer to do my research and avoid as many errors as I can).

Dad has a second mobile that is also on Amaysim that we'll also probably switch to this $60 calls and text only plan so he can just auto renew it

EDIT: Dad's gonna buy two of these… one to port his Coles service to Amaysim on his main phone. The second is for mum. We won't be able to keep her newly activated Amaysim AYG number (not gonna dick around with porting to a $2 sim and back again) but Dad's decided it's better to just stuck mum on a plan that has unlimited calls/sms and some decent data that we can auto renew.

  • Switched from Boost Mobile since they have become less competitive price wise. For older parents, it’s perfect.

    • Same plan here for my folks… gonna set up two $119 plans. At unlimited calls/text, over 30x the data they'll use in a year, international roaming packs suited to their travel needs (they've done 6 or 7 international trips over the past year), and unlimited international calls to countries that matter to them, I'm just gonna leave it on auto renew for them.

  • Sorry can someone confirm - is the 120GB $119 or $149? When I click the link at the top of the post it says $149 in woolies stores, but the title of this post suggests it's $119? Cheers

  • If anyone have Woolies insurance, you get monthly 10% off and can be applied to purchase this Sim pack, I bought one yesterday with additional 10% off.

  • Yup, can confirm the Everyday Extra Rewards 10% off worked for this. Great timing OP as my Optus prepaid is about to go up to $35/month. This works out at $7 something with the discounts.

    • Do you need to buy this in-store to get the 10% off?

      • Yeah it only works in store now

    • Didn't work with the Everyday Extra 10% off at WW Hobart City. Did I do it the wrong way?

      • No idea why, sorry. My shop was $160 including the $99 Amaysim. I got prompted to use my monthly 10% off and it took $16 off the shop.

  • Link doesn't work anymore?

  • Only available in store was the message I got. So I miss out as deal expires tonight.

  • Look this product has been pulled from the shelves. Been to two woolies. No where to be seen.

    • Yeap, I suspect this is the case. My local use to have many and all disappeared overnight a couple of weeks back.
