Note: this is the model without Hall-Effect Sensing Joystick.

Yeah it's lame that they call them both 'ultimate' when this one is a inferior without the hall sticks or Switch compatibility.

      • +2

I want an "ultimate" controller with hall effect sticks and Xbox layout 😔

I already bought this "ultimate" some time ago without researching first. Here's hoping they release an kit to upgrade to HE.

        • +2

FYI, 8bitdo sells xbox-layout buttons for the HE version on their website for like $10. But that involves opening up your HE controller to swap them in.

Or if you've already got the muscle memory, just buy the HE version, connect it using the provided Xbox-compatible dongle, and ignore what's printed on the buttons.

    Better with the Bluetooth version

So the Bluetooth version has the hall sensors? Does it come with a dongle for PC too, or does it use Bluetooth for PC? This is the most confusing product ever.

Also, does the Bluetooth version works on switch?

      • +2

        Yes to all your questions.

      • +2

The BT version comes with dongle for PC

        • Thanks man, appreciate it.

  • Pro 2 is better because you can use AA batteries so that it'll last longer.

    • ah thanks i have the pro2 already.
the good with tthis ultimate is the hall effect and also you can shake to wake up nin.switch.
      and the dock is cool
and the pink colour options is dope

    • I have the Pro 2 and hate the directional pad. I wonder if the Ultimate is any better if you have one to compare. That would convince me to upgrade.

  • Pity that it's not the Bluetooth version as it's also compatible with the Switch and Steam Deck.

    • Turns out it actually does work with the Switch if you plug the little dongle from the dock in.

      Should work with Deck too.

  • I tried the ultimate bluetooth version and honestly it was pretty disappointing in terms of build quality. Had d-pad wobble and something rattling inside. I hope it was just unit-to-unit variation

    • +1

If there was something rattling inside then obviously some thing was broken in it. Maybe it happened during shipping. It probably had to do with the d-pad maybe it had plastic broken off inside. The controller should have nothing rattling loose inside of it.
