    oh damn!!!

  • Is there a wireless version of the drums?

  • can it be connect 2 drums to the Switch for 2 players ?

    • Seems like it:

Nintendo Switch Exclusive Software "Taiko no Tatsujin Nintendo Switch - Jin! drum-shaped controller is perfect for drums

Im confused, as it only 1 x USB port in Switch Dock, how do I connect 2 drums ?

        • What? Switch dock has 3 USB ports. OLED has 2 ports

    • Yes, I have 2 drums and they both work fine.

  • +11

hmm tempted but worry will gather dust after a week, just like the ring adventure thing

    • Got two from the last sale - one is still in the box and the other is currently collecting dust by the TV. We couldn't get the sync calibrated properly enough causing the drum to miss beats. I might look into modding it to make it more responsive.

      • +1

Generally an issue with post processing on the TV. Tried gamemode etc?

        • Thanks, I might look into that.

    • +7

Just buy it, you’ll be drumming every day for the rest of your life.

    • I didn't buy it.
It will collect dust, just like the Ring.
I've got the ring as well, only used it once or twice.

      • yeah.. hmmm with ring i bought second hand so damage is low, plus there is one game probably thats why we are not interested.
this kind more fun and few games (but yes technically all the same thing drum drum anyway).
        ah not sure.. probably pass

    • I have 2 that are both currently collecting dust BUT I did play it extensively with my wife for quite a while and we always go back to it every now and then. I don't regret a thing, probably one of my favourite rhythm games.

    • I haven't even unboxed mine, it's gather dust near the Ring-Fit, some 8bitdo controllers, the Wii equivalent of this, and a bunch of other things I never use ;)

  • Never played a Taiko game before, is this more or less fun than Guitar Hero as an actively maintained rhythm game?

    • +4

Go to a Timezone and give it a go, you get two songs for one tap and if you're lucky some kid may have already tapped it, not understood how to start the game, got bored and gone elsewhere

      • played free many times…..

      • And I thought it's only me loitering around looking for free games ;D

    • Best music game ever since ddr. Great fun and you don’t need to be a drummer to play it.

    • its more fun at timezone. these controllers are tiny and plastic so you don't get the same experience at home

    • Free demo on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

  • +4

wow never heard of this. I feel old. what is this?

    • same

    • This was released before year 2000 ….

      Are you 70s? 80s?

      • +3

maybe he was born after 2000..

      • -1

        not old then just dumb.
I only had PS1/2/3 didnt get anything nintendo in the 90s/00s

        • +1

Taiko was huge in arcades and on PlayStation 2 in the early 2000s.

It and DDR were really the first wave of the rhythm game phenomenon. Guitar Hero came along a few years later.

But Taiko was kind of a Japanophile thing. DDR and Guitar Hero went more mainstream.

    • upgrade yourself from 3.5 to 4 and you will feel better

      • but thats even younger! I need Windows 95

  • So good. Got two of them. Great fun with friends

    Wife is gonna kill me…

    • +3

      just drum her tonight….

    • If she wont let you buy the drum ask her if you can play with her bongos instead

    • -1

Sticks are a good length should be fine

  • Description says this comes with two drums. Can anybody confirm this?

    • Includes 2 special drums with a length of about 10.6 inches (27 cm). In addition, the drum can be attached to the dedicated stand for convenient storage
    • I think it's a lost in translation issue maybe. They are referring to the drum sticks.

    • I think it is referring to the drum sticks, not the actual drum.

  • +1

Played with my kid before in arcade centre it was very fun. Dang!!….I just bought one without owning a Nintendo switch. Look like I need to get one now. LOL

    • hmm someone said the experience is far different between this at home and at arcade centre

      • Not surprise if it is. I spoke to few mates they said its pretty good fun for kids at home. So for that price, I reckon should be alright. I have been putting off getting Switch console for a while now always wanting it to play Zelda perhaps this is a good excuse now. Hehe

        • yeah fair enough. you can wait for black friday next month or just get second hand from marketplace i see a lot around 200-250 before bargaining so could be 180-220 that is cheap (non oled)

      • It's not "far different" but the full size is… full size.

It's basically good enough for at home and when you're drumming youre not noticing any difference unless you put 100 hours into the arcade version

  • Seems to work with Ryujinx but fiddly. I’ll wait for it to be a little more mature… Or maybe switch 2.

    • Dang was just about to ask if it worked with the Steam Deck

    • There are Taiko clones online and the controller works with them on PC.

      • Oh of course there’d be clones, thanks, didn’t think of that! AliExpress?

        • +1

I think they meant clone games - you don't need to use the drum with the official switch game on PC. I personally play on PC using OpenTaiko

          • @rain-e: Thanks, that eventually took me to a review https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SidowGgHp5M. Now I want the US$350 one 🤤 Looks legit.

            • +1

@frugalftw: I don't think there exists a Taiko player out there who doesn't wish they had the Taiko Force haha

              • @rain-e: Well, just putting it out there, if someone is hosting a taiko force party, please let me know. I’ll bring beer.

  • +1

I recommend modding it to get good experience, otherwise you have to hit Don hard and Ka REALLY hard to get consistent triggers. At least Hori is still better than other drums in the market.

    • +2

Any particular mod you recommend? There are so many different mods.

  • Wow, suddenly brings back memories. I wonder where we can get one of those Guitar Hero 3 controllers.

    • My house. Collecting dust and taking space. Just like this would be

    • I wonder where we can get one of those Guitar Hero 3 controllers.

If they're compatible with Clone Hero you'll be paying a tonne for one.

  • Can you play Rainbow 6 Siege with this?

    • +1

      If you use melee weapon.

  • I have one of these, you have to hit it hard enough to kill someone for it to register. You can mod it to make it more sensitive but I didn't have much luck with the side tap sensors

  • +1

(profanity) me i paid like $140 each 6 months ago :') and then i found out it wasn't part of xbox game pass PC anymore so had to shell out another $40 to buy the game

  • I didn't expect this drum game to be popular in Australia, thought maybe only in Japan.

    • +1

well you forget there are many asian in australia….

      • Australiasia

  • this game keeps calling me to get it on ozebargin lol maybe I should :D

    That's good price.

Check reviews for IINE brand alternative. Some says it's better than Hori and it's bigger. Good price on Aliexpress now

    • Not sure if IINE updated the software, but check this review from YouTube 2 years ago.

  • Have anyone played the game here? does it come with english option? or jap only?

    • The game or the controller? The game is English provided you buy Europe/Australia/US version. This drum doesn't come with the game

  • can we actually get a decent game play using the controller? i vaguely remember months ago playing with 8bitdo pro 2 (or joycon, cant remember) and i had massive lag between when i press and it triggers on the tv (or maybe the lag is because playing on tv?)

    • There's no lag with the drum

  • Didnt buy one thanks…

not sure why everyone who buys something has to say they did… ?

    • not sure why everyone who didn't buy it has to say so… but here it goes anyway. Didnt buy one thanks…
