No issues. Its very zippy. The only drawback I would say is indoor photos don't look as good as S23U

      • +1

Same experience here but on the day after launch. Not sure why you've been negged.

  • +2

Had a call yesterday from a Newcastle store. My white 256 early to mid November.

    • @scottb721 when did you order ? I ordered mine on 6th Oct. No update from my store. Generic 2-3weeks answer.

      • @listenam I ordered mine late arvo on the 9th.

    • Victoria maribynong was told early November but who knows. They also told me I was number 2 in line and I would get my 256gb porcelain on release day.

    • Good that they called you.
I ordered mine from Kotara, 256gb Bay on the 7th, I've called them twice for an update and keep getting a generic response about stock levels and them not being sure when to expect it.

I've asked that they contact me on my main number as I don't have a phone to put the new SIM card they gave me into

      • I worry I might be impatient, today marking 2 weeks from contract signing for black 128gb. They should have stock which is what I gather from their online inventory

        • OK. Picked up on the 2 week mark. Kind of had to use the time lapsing to compel the reservation of stock. Thanks all

  • Any one canceled on the 9/10/2023 around 11:20am still waiting for the final bill coming? Thanks

    • I cancelled on the 8th and haven’t received anything either pretty sure it’s one billing cycle or a month so if I don’t get it in a month I’ll call them up.

    • +1

I have chatted with Optus and it seems the bill will come 1 month after cancellation.

    • Same here

  • How many of pixels did HN actually sell for them to be this much OOS. Can someone with some skills create a post with polls please? I also got no ETA yet answer 😞

    • I think they save it for outright sell, before l sign the contract l have been told by sales this time have enough stock. I signed on 9th got it on 12th on time.

    • Friend of mine ordered a black 256G p8p from Telstra , they don't have stock either and asking him, to wait for a couple of weeks. Not just HN has issues with stock.

      • It's basically a limit number of stock Google would supply

    • Imagine the demand when pixel 8 /prolaunched in Australia Austria Canada Denmark France Germany India Ireland Italy Japan Netherlands Norway Portugal Singapore Spain Switzerland Sweden Taiwan United Kingdom United States.. samish date.. and U have a crazy au hn deal being megaphoned on ozb.

  • +2

Got tired of waiting , went HN local store and collected a Bay 128G insted of 256 porcelin and got $99 refund.

    • May I know at which store did you do this?

I tried doing similar thing however the representative said, he is unable to modify order due to POS limitation.

      • Castle Hill home center (NSW) , was not that stright forward due to the $99 refund . They were bit reluctant at first , but I keep asking them to help as its more than 2 weeks and no ETA yet. The store manager had to make many changes in their system , took 10-15 min .

  • cancelled. they offered $35 a month for the next 12 months. would have bitten if it was for 24 months and no cancellation fee

    • Is it keeping the plan for $35 is much better than cancelling ? When you cancel you will have to paya approx $828. You getting 100G data with optus 5G for free for 12 months and if you can extend the offer after 12 months , you getting it for free for 24 months.

    • Did U work out what U gonna pay in the end even if U cancelled after 12 m! Same same. At least U would've enjoyed 100gb and calls if U took the offer.

      • +2

yea but i dont need the data anyway. thats what free boost sims are for

        • +2

im on a boost 365 plan myself. gave the optus sim to the o'l man for his Bday! 24months dad! a tear in his eye and bit of a cheeky smile in return from me.. win win.

    • I keep hearing this. I want this deal! When I asked to cancel they only offered me $10/month off for 6 months and I took it because I wanted to keep the plan

      • Did U try again and tell them people are being offered the 50% discount. The first point of contact in the chat has no authority but cancellation.ask them to put U thru to retention team

        • I haven't tried again yet. I actually got the $10 discount from the first point of contact. It was legit because it was reflected on my first bill

  • My current issue is dealing with Google. bought Mous case but MagSafe magnet is pissweak.. so having issues returning.. with invalid RMA and support is almost non existent. 1st chat support said give em 24hrs to investigate. Now that's expired another person saying give em 72hrs and they'll update…. How hard is it to reissue a valid rma. This is gonna be fun when they give U 14 days to send back the item… But can't.

Fishy so googled google support review!!!! GOSH! I hope we won't need to deal with Google for warranty and HN will be a better experience.

    • Just out of curiosity, which one did you get?

      • Walnut Mous limitless 5. Nice premium case and all BUT.. weak magnet that can't hold weight of phone and rear 1mm raised camera edging doesn't leave much confidence protecting it.

        • Ah ok
I got a aramid fibre one. I did consider the walnut one as it looks nice but wasn't sure about the texture and be a little slippery.

First MagSafe I've ever used and seems to be fine from the one I have. I got an esr wallet (halolock) and it sticks on if I hold it off that and shake a little. But will come off if I shake hard.

Regarding lens, I did get the lens protector for added protection.

My only minor issue is the bottom area where the USB port is. Holding it with my left or both hands when typing, my pinky rests on the hard bit at the bottom and gets a bit irritated.
Thought it would be a little softer.

    • get d brand if u want magsafe

    https://sell.reebelo.com.au/

Wondering if anyone has got better deal to sell their phone!

    • That's a pretty good price! I would seriously consider it if Samsung does another stack deal for S23U

    • Have you sell your’s to them? How’s the experience?

      • +1

I haven't initiated it yet! I'd rather wait for more options.

You can lock the price with them for the next 14 days by initiating the trade process.

  • My number still hasn't been ported.. I haven't got a bill from Optus, my mate got one all ready and he ordered the day after me.

At this point I'm assuming I got a free phone.

    • u get it after a month of cancelling

      • +1

I haven't cancelled my plan. I wanted to have it, but as of now I have nothing from Optus but my phone lol

        • +1

I'm in the same boat here haha

          • @zammr: Still no bill or any calls from Optus how about you ? At this point it looks like I got a free phone.

            • @adamshere: Yeah still same here, have heard nothing about it since signing up

    • Just received my bill today. First month + termination fee

      • And no phone in hand?

        • -1

Nah I picked my phone up on the day it released . They can't port my number and haven't heard anything from Optus since the day after I got my phone. No bill etc

      • Me too. I went onto Optus chat and asked if it was possible to waive the first month, as I thought that since I cancelled on the day of signing up, I would only need to pay the termination fee, and surprisingly, after referring it to their supervisor, they did!

I need some help or advice on what to do. Originally I took up this promotion on October 11th and the next day ported my number to another provider based on comments in this thread.

Earlier this afternoon I received a call to go into Harvey Norman Hornsby to collect the P8P 256GB phone. I went in expecting to get the phone but instead hit a brick wall of staff telling me they had to check the Optus account before they could provide it. I had not mentioned the number was ported out at this point but eventually it came to the surface when their franchise manager told them not to hand over the phone because I had already cancelled the Optus plan.

Despite showing the staff the contract agreement, the Optus bill for the first month and the purchase invoice it did not matter, they deferred to their store owner. I went back at 5pm when he was available and we ended up in an argument of sorts, I ended up a bit heated and he looked like he had done this to many people before, as though he knew all the loopholes on how to deny, deflect and refuse terms of trade despite it being after the fact. He said I had cancelled a 'SIM only plan' and because they had not already handed me the phone I was no longer entitled to it.

So now I am down the first month Optus bill $69, plus the service cancellation fee which would probably end up being about $793. Also there is the $99 on the purchase of the phone for the 256GB upgrade, they offered to give that back originally but I refused (this was on my first visit) as I wanted the phone that all parties had agreed too.

I am not sure what to do now. The store owner is not going to negotiate this at all. Can I go to NSW fair trading, will they even be much help?

    • +7

Raise a complaint with HN head office then go to NSW Fair Trading.

      • +1

Thanks I have started this process today, Will post further when I have anything informative to add.

    • +3

You could try Compliments & Complaints, although I suspect it would just go to the store manager.

    • +4

Completely illegal what they are doing. Should be an easy win for you. God Harvey’s can be absolute scumbags. Thank god I don’t shop there anymore.

    • +8

You are under no obligation to keep the contract for 24 months.

Copy paste from my advice to another obargainer:

Let them know your next call is to head office. That will normally make them act as it is part of their performance review. I highly doubt the franchisee will want you to make that call.

If they don't act call head office, from the store if you want. 02 92016111 iirc.

Tell them your next call is to fair trading or similar. They will normally do pretty much anything to avoid that hassle.

I have had them call the franchisee and fix an issue on the spot for me.

      • +2

Thanks this is very helpful, following up with them today.

        • +2

Get a chance to speak to head office today?

          • @Duff5000: Yes I did and its still ongoing via the HN Head Office currently.

            • @Elly18: Almost two and half weeks later. Harvey Norman Head Office has refused to honour the promotion despite everything including my evidence of purchasing the phone on October 10th.

They only offered to provide me the phone if I paid the rest of the phone value on the invoice minus the Optus plan cancellation fee. Which is over another $1000 I believe. I also have a bill from Optus now for cancellation of the plan for $793 to be paid on November 26th.

The liason officer at HN Head Office said that anyone who cancels 6 months down the track will have to pay the remaining cost of the phone. This is despite me clearly telling them that this was a Gift Card Voice plan and phone has been paid for in full on the day of plan activation.

During the last few weeks I was unable to get a surname of anyone involved in this. The liason officer refused to provide any details of anyone who worked at Harvey Norman, be it the franchisee owner, themself or their manager for escalation.

My only avenue now is to go to NSW fair tradingand lodge a complaint. Has anyone been down that path before?

              • +3

@Elly18: You didnt "purchase a phone" and you didn't "pay for a phone" you signed up for a 24 month plan and as part of the HN norman deal anyone who signs on to the deal gets a Pixel 8 pro for 0$. No where did the deal stipulate that you needed to "stay on the deal". What happens with optus is none of their business and should have never been in the first place.

If your liason officer is pulling shit out of his ass ask him where it says on the contract, contract clearly states the exit conditions which you followed. Defs should have fought hard for names too.

As annoying as HN is have you tried just going in at a different times and hope you get a different employees or call up, pretend everything is normal and request to pick up the phone from a different location?

Maybe call up head office again and hope you get a different person but stay on the phone until they get you an answer instead.

                • +3

@alteyez: There's another way to look at it if the T&C's for this deal are the same as the current Samsung deal.

Customers who sign up to a new Optus $69 SIM only plan in store at Harvey Norman, Domayne or Joyce Mayne during the offer period will also be eligible to purchase a Samsung Galaxy S22 128GB device with an $1149 discount applied upfront to the cost of the device at point-of-sale. Device must be purchased at the same time the plan is taken out.

They DID purchase a Pixel 8 Pro with a $1699 discount, and Harvey Norman now need to supply what was purchased.

      • What you said is true however you end up dealing with the mess with HN. Not really worth it by cancelling before you got the phone. I suspect they are trying to not lose money by denying the handset

    • +3

I too have ordered a P8P 256GB and currently in limbo with no ETA of when the phone would arrive. I ordered a Porcelain one.
I've always suspected that HN could do something like this and withhold the phone from you, that's why I've been sticking to the Optus plan for now. In my case, I'm still in a better plan than what I was on before (Telstra plan that cost me a few bucks more with no real benefit apart from cheaper movie tickets). Optus coverage has been good in Sydney CBD area.
It doesn't matter if you can go to Fair Trading and fight for your rights, it's still a major hassle. And if you don't succeed in getting it to go your way, you're on the hook for $800+ and no phone.
      I wish you good luck.

      • Yup I said this before wait until you have the phone then you cancel. It's not worth the savings for 1-2 months $34.50-$69, dealing with HN mobs

I extended my payment til 13th Nov. I would have to pay that $69 if phone still not arrived. 2nd bill I will extend again til HN delivers

        • Just go on chat and request to put the service on suspend, $5.5 a month.

          • @techdave: Did you suspend straight away and how does it work?

            • @neonlight: No, I didn't do it immediately, but some people did and you could do it anytime.

So just ask them for it so at least the bill wouldn't roll over for another $69 while we wait for HN. Took about 5 minutes to do over chat on the optus app for me.

              • @techdave: Ah yeah I see thanks I guess I will suspend it closer to 13th Nov the due date on my bill if still no phone yet. Great idea thanks heaps!

                • @neonlight: I was able to convince them to waive the $5.50 by saying it was their agent's fault.

                  • @scottb721: Thanks mate, did you to this via chat as well. Saying their agent couldn't deliver, hence that should be waived? Thing is, isn't Optus gonna say at the time you signed the Optus plan you already knew the phone is not available? Or should I go with agent failed to deliver by date as promised so I can't use the service etc?

                    • @neonlight: Yeah on chat.
When they said it would cost $5.50 I said "You should be billing your agent for not supplying the phone" and that "I haven't started using the service" because of that.

                      • @scottb721: Thanks a lot mate I managed to suspend it as well up to 90 days. $5.50 fee also waived thanks again!

I wonder once the phone does arrive proceed with reactivate the service before port out heh

    • +3

Guy is bsing, mate got the phone when he asked where in the deal did it say "stay on" for 24 months, deal was you get the phone for "signing up" not stay on which is what he did, if they fail their obligation then that means they voided their part of the contract, then ask for the number for the head office.

You followed the contract to the tee and decided to cancel the plan, regardless of what happens to that plan HN still needs give you the phone.

What happens with optus does not matter with HN.

    • +6

      jfc
      abomination of a business owner.

    • +1

It is now more than a week later and I am still talking with Harvey Norman Head Office. They have been helpful to a degree but they really have not done a deep 'investigation' into the issue. At this point they have taken the owners word and decision onboard far too easily without understanding the promotion fully.

I will wait sometime into next week before taking this further. I am not sure what a reasonable period of time is for HN HO to come to a resolution either for or against but it can't be much longer
      .
I also feel like the fact that the owner looked at the status of my Optus account after the date of the purchase might be a breach of privacy?

      • +3

What would they need to consider that would take this long. It's pretty obsidian and porcelain.

      • Have you contacted optus? Maybe they can reactivate your plan. They will more likely try to keep you as a customer. Probably the turn around would be quicker than dealing with this horrible mob.

        • Yes, already spoke to Optus, they can't reactivate the same account plan because the number was ported out. If it was a cancellation over the phone that would be different.

  • I ordered my phone(P8P 256 Bay) at QV on the 8th of October, and I still haven't received it. The salesperson told me I was fourth in line, so does this mean that this store has received less than four phones since the release? This is really outrageous!

    • Ordered the p8p 128 Bay in WA on the 13 Oct. Was told two weeks but now they can't give me an ETA. Doesn't look good if you were earlier 😅

    • Ordered my 256 Porcelain on 10/10 also at QV….have called them a few times and each time a week is added onto the delay!!!

They don't even have stocks for any of the variants for walk-in customers….

  • Has anyone in WA received their phone yet? Ordered on 13 Oct in store and the store person said there was a back order and expecting more stock in two weeks. Two weeks have passed and have called them for an update and was told they are having stock issues and don't have an ETA

    • +1

My friend picked up his 256gb obsidian from Cannington, my 256gb bay is still no ETA from O'Connor

    • I ordered on 8/10, 256 Bay. Was 4th in line but they only got 3 at launch. Picked up my 256 Obsidian after Midland transferred a phone from Mandurah for me. Got very lucky and only waited a few extra days.

  • Anyone else waiting for a phone from HN North Ryde?

    • Yeah nothing at all

      • What colour/capacity are you waiting on?

        • Bay 256GB, Obsidian you might have more luck to get it earlier

  • +7

My advice to those waiting for their pre order phones is to go to the store and make yourself known. I just dropped in on Wiley Park unannounced, and my phone was there despite initially telling me it would be a 3-5 week wait. The guy showed me how he was trying to contact me for weeks, which is infuriating because I was very clear to call me on my current number not the number they issued me. Obviously they were calling a number that was disconnected.

Keep in mind I have been regularly trying to call them and even got to a point of leaving my number with someone there to get them to call me back.

    Hope that helps someone.

    Note I ordered a black 512 gb P8Pro.

    • What was the stock status on their website?
I've been checking Harvey Norman's website to see if it's available for click and collect but it's showing unavailable in all the store in my vicinity.

Btw, anyone ordered with HN Cannington WA?

      • My friend picked up his obsidian 256gb last week

      • As well as my local, I've even been checking Melb, Syd and Bris stock lol

      • I didn't have an ability to check the status of my specific pre-order and I didn't really look for what the case was for general purchase.

I am saying if you partook in this OzB deal and are waiting for them to call and you cancelled the accompanied number instantly, they may be trying to call that number because lol.

  • +1

At this point, I'll probably never get the phone.. first call was no ETA. Second call was also no ETA. Third call was 2-3 weeks (at least it was something..). Now, I decided to put in an email (maybe they will be more exact) and it turned into no ETA again. I hope you guys will have better luck with your store.

    • Update: I got call from my HN today, telling me it's ready for pickup. I guess the guy was actually clueless or didn't want to deal with me. FYI, I got the Porcelain 256gb on the 7th. From the latest comments, I also suggest that if any of you ordered a Porcelain 256gb, give them a call and ask.

  • +1

Just called up HN Wiley Park and they said the best ETA they can give me is 1st week of November. I had them update the contact number in the system as I've put the ported in one On Hold with Optus.

Ordered the Bay 256GB (funnily enough he said there is no stock anywhere in the country)

    • +1

256 bay no stock in aus is some more bs from HN pulled out from their rear end

      • +2

Like I said they are waiting for that 2 month commission. By not delivering your phone for two months so for those who have not cancelled yet and also deny anyone picking up if you cancelled your contract

        • For sure, HN are hopeless and im never going back there. First they just take as many preorders as they can without knowing when they will even get stock and how many, but then there is ZERO communication about it. I got a call release day to say sorry allocation exhausted and 'maybe next week'. No calls a week later so i call to find out and they cant tell me anything. Havent heard anything since and everyone here is having to call themselves to find out whats going on.

I was speaking to optus complaints this week to get my first month charge waived, which they eventually did, but the complaints lady called the store for me. She got a 'maybe next week' as well. Its such BS that you sign a contract and now cant go elsewhere for a deal because you are locked in but they cant even provide you with the phone you signed up for.

          • @worthy1: When you ordered, you should have checked the stock on order in the store vs the pre-orders.

Pretty simple .. I picked the 256gb black because there was 5 on order and none in the queue yet in my local HN store
